okay the youtube nerds were right about this one
>felt like a huge asshole dragging an incline bench to the cables, possibly the best tricep workout of my life though
>>
I just tried this but quickly ran out of cable length
>>
any good and small cable machine for at home gym?

I noticed when I was too lazy to transfer plates to my ezcurl for bis/tris my arms didn't grow as much. Freeweights have way more torque than machines and cables. Try adding some upright and flat skull skullcrushers, got some wicked doms doing some 1-5rms.
>>
>>77262159
i like overhead motions for tri's too. upright overhead ez bar ext are great, but i like doing both up and down motions for tri's and this incline cable bullshit is my new favorite pulldown variation
>>
>>77262152
ngl i'm kinda poor right now but i'm gonna try to snatch one from facebook marketplace. my dad got a really cool treadmill and a few bikes for free

It seems good for removing cheat form, and the angle of force being offset. I got kind of the same thing with an easier set up with the flat bench skullcrushers and you kind of extend your arms further back to isolate. Maybe an ab bench for the freeweight version.

If i go to the gym at 9am and right as im about to warmup find someone doing this one of us is not leaving there alive

I miss dumbbells skullcrushers but the dumbbells have gotten too big to use, maybe I need one of these bad boys for that and dumbbell shoulders.
>>
>>77262217
as i mentioned above i like overhead tricep ext and the chair bench is great for those. dumbbell shoulder press too
if you have a preacher bench you can use the preacher part as a back rest too. i do that when the single chair thing at my gym is taken
>>

weighted dips are best

>felt like a huge asshole dragging an incline bench to the cables
yeah this is why i can't bring myself do it. my gym is pretty close quarters and i feel like an asshole taking up the whole walkway to do two sets of tricep pushdowns kek
>>77262251
i do these (minus the back support), they feel good but getting the bar into position is a pain in the ass
>>
>>77262281
you lay down while doing tricep pulldowns
>>
>>77262137
How do you actually get the bar into the starting position? Do you just pullover it once you sit down or do you drag it like a retard while standing up?

For me, it's this thing. It's like the comfort of a rope but with the ability to push like you would with a regular v/straight/ez bra
>>
>>77262255
Luv me the French press. Anyone who loves will finda brother in me
>>
>>77262295
you lay down, then kind of pullover into position. i had the pulley a little bit lower than in the pic and could just grab it
>>77262292
i think thats why i like the back support, lean back while getting into position and its pretty stable. though i do workout in the like 3x8-12 range so my weights are rarely super unwieldy

french press?
>>
>>77262306
>>77262137
Is it better than the tricep station with the backpad you use while standing that most multi-cable machines have? For some reason I never bothered trying thata.
>>
>>77262255
I thought the French press was more of a press whereas a skull crusher is using your triceps like a lever? I've never really gotten how people can hit bis or tris on a compound pull or press to failure either i just do bench>shoulders/arms/forearms simple enough.
>>
>>77262251
Kind of unrelated but for some reason I have the easiest time getting progress on arms because it's low effort fast recovery and I can just do a few curls or french press all the time.

only if you weak. Weighted dips are king. Everyone else here is wrong about everything
>>
>>77262315
not too loud, there are muslims
>>
>>77262350
ive been doing upper body 3x a week for months now, and seen nothing but progress, especially in arms by just throwing one or two curl or tricep movements in at the end of each workout.
just pick kind of at random from:
>the so called french press
>pull downs (now going to be this incline cable thing)
>preacher
>hammer curl
>reverse grip cable curls

more to be revealed from my soon to be patented UPPER/UPPER/UPPER split
>>
>>77262330
>skulls/LTE
lying down
>french press
seated/standing
>>

>pick one
I'm on the opposite side of just adding one lift a session, I'll try to time being fresh to doing freeweights. Instead of mwf bench if im focusing delts or tris like that I'll make the Tuesday the day to do an intensive day on said lift and push bench to Thursday. Or just not be as worried about it and do mon-thurs all lifting days and friday is likely a rest day, since I'm more lagging in delts than chest atm. The caveat being that it's about 70% volume per session. Is great for still making good main compound progress while prioritizing supporting muscles if you haven't tried anything like it I would recommend.

nga just use dumbells
>>
>>77262372
Try these 2 for sick arm pumps
>kind of cheat y bar on cable tris and the last few sets bend over more but make it a stricter movement till the last few reps, trying to move as much weight without looking like a dumb dumbass
>on preachers, take a knee and lean forward for the heavy portion then once weaker lean back for full rom
I'm pretty sure my biceps grew a whole inch this year, maybe more. Mostly after making these small tweaks not even trying any out there movements besides to cover deficiencies in the standard shit.

>>77262460
i like these tips, thanks. ill try them friday. ii sort of do #2 already when i do cable curls.

Is this actually a viable alternative to an inclined bench?
I dont want to waste money and home space
>>
>>77262658
Seems retarded to be honest. You want stability when holding weight that can smash all the bones in your face above it not a a fuckin cylinder underneath you. Adjustable bench is probably the most versatile thing you can buy for your home gym, if there's one thing that's not a waste of space and money it's an incline bench.
>>
>>77262144
I use rings at home and do it standing. Much cheaper and great stretch
>>
>>77262137
How is this different to a regular pushdown? Isn't it the exact same motion?
Also all you need for triceps are:
>Pushdowns
>Overhead single arm extensions
>Kickbacks
>>
>>77262502
Think of it like 2 sets a day of 5rm or less. If you fail or kinda lose the tempo do another set. For me this week it's bench>ohp>incline>y bar tris, all are treated like a 3rm for 2 solid sets then another 2 of the same lift bit another variant. You can add more power sets, muscle head specific hypertrophy, or just any kind of extra work from speed reps to time under tension kinda shit or entirely other muscle groups related to the main lift(preexhaustion). It is assumed to hit the opposite movement(bench/rows, prowlers/deadlift) and to use long breaks between lifts so that you can use more of your 1rm%.

Don't mean to write it like a noob book but try it out.

My favourite tricep exercise is like the rippetoe tricep extension but done with BW on rings. You can go beyond failure by adjusting the balance of your body to put less weight on the triceps, without the risk of having a weight over your face. It always gives me the gnarliest tricep pump and they're always sore the next day.
I do them by just grabbing the straps without the ring attached, feels better on my wrists that way.
>>
>>77262253
Dips for tris are way too good
>>
>>77262926
this shit is too easy even one handed
