Sleep mostly.
Not scientific at all but I try to stretch my hamstrings for the next 2 days often and long. I think they always heal back tighter and it creates problems with using my glutes.

I do a hard leg day every 2 days (sometimes I deload when it gets too much). I find the legs generally adapt really well. Just get a good night's sleep and you're fine.
