How do some "men" cut on <2000 kcal? I'm a 174cm manlet and I cut on 2400-2800 kcal/day, depending how active I am. Do you guys just lay in bed all day?

I have hypothyroidism, so I have to cut at 1200 to 1500 calories at 6'1 and 190. This is with 10 rounds of boxing plus plyometrics plus cardio. This isn't a cut, either, this is the rest of my life. Pretty gnarly, to say the least, but calories really don't work as claimed. I should be eating 3k/day or so according to the doctors. But doing that doesn't work at all.

The difference is negligible compared to the difference between appetites of people, and also it's especially nothing when you consider modern foods where a tiny thing might be full of fat and thus 500 kcals - if someone has a habit of adding 1 tbsp of butter to their veggies / pasta / rice / whatever that in itself takes away the difference of literally a 8 kg muscle difference.

I began the cut 4 days ago (officially 6 days but the first 2 days were a bender, then Ive been very serious about it). Bulked for a couple of months before.

Im dyel but I dont want to keep bulking and become a true fatass for the couple of weeks Im gonna be shirtless at the beach. Ill begin bulking seriously in August after hopefully losing 5-6kg (and Ill bulk for 6-7 months)

Many things in my life have gotten in the way of me taking the gym seriously the past years. In all fairness, I have only really progressed since January.

I am at 57,5kg OHP for 3 reps and 85kg bench for 4 reps. Its not much, but its something.

Do you guys even go out in the real world? I would say that even like this, I am above 50th percentile. Of course, anybody who has done it seriously for 1 year beats my ass to it. But Im not delusional. Ill try to be skinnier for the 2 weeks I go to the beach, and then in August Ill try to keep on doing this seriously. Im 25 so I have plenty of years left to lift. In the previous post I said I could not really stay consistent. Call me a nigger, maybe I dont have the grit, but so much stuff has gone down in my life during the 19-25 yo period that I just could not keep diet and/or exercise consistent for months on end.

Some people decide to prioritize being jacked and its fine, me I could not. Now my life is much more structured and I hope it to be even more so when I begin my job after university in September. You gain some you lose some.

I might not be jacked, but I am fit, active and strong enough for almost anything I have done that required strength (some odd blue collar job there and then). For fucking like a bull too.

My maintenance was around 2800 when I was ~97kg at 190cm. To strongly deviate from that you'd either have to be a tradie and on your feet for the whole day or have a health problem. Not all people have to or have time to be active for the whole day.

I got up to like 87kgs after months and months of doing it.

About there I walk/run/skate to the gym and back which is probably half that. The workout itself, the cardio, I also usually do errands those days too so a little is probably from that. My tracker has been on the money when it comes to maintence so far.

Even before i standardized my stepcount and was more or less sedentary, workouts excluded, my maintainence was still like 2600-2700. I autistically track everything that enters my mouth and I was losing almost 1kg a week eating 2000-2100 calories when I did an aggro cut.

Did GOMAD + SS when I was 17, entered skinnyfat hell (from being skinny) and ever since I have fucked around with the gym for years on end without achieving any real progress due to being unable to be consistent for months on end. I am a lazy fuck + life got so much in the way its unreal. Feels bad.

I began taking it seriously January of this year (more like Sep 2025 but even then I look back at my notebook and they didnt really progress, nor was I tracking and stuff). Id say this is the best I have ever looked unironically and specially the heaviest I have ever lifted.

I cant wait to lose the fat and begin a proper bulk & path beginning this August and finally be jacked for summer '27

My BMR would be like 1600, but you don't just add calories burned from steps to that. Otherwise, my maintenance would be 2200 according to your logic, which is ridiculous when even inputting "sedentary" in tdee calculators puts any lazy sedentary adult male at like 2000.

All the weight data I collected from 3 months of aggro cutting + data from the past 2 weeks eating 3000-3100 pretty much confirms to me that this is my maintenance. Weight hasn't budged. At worst my tracked calories could be off by a few percent or whatever (I track even a stupid tbsp of ketchup or a few berries before eating them and have been for months).
Hate appealing to AI, but even ChatGPT estimates my maintenance to be around the 3000 mark, so I'm just rolling with it lol.
I wouldn't bother with all the steps otherwise if they didn't push my maintenance so high desu. I'm even jealous of guys whose maintenance is 4000 or more
