Yes but im losing weight and claude told me to eat 1.4g of protein for every kg of my target weight every day so I keep as much muscle as possible. That's automatically a high protein diet for me. Are you saying that is fake?

For example a guy that eats 2,500 calories with 200g protein consistently will be slightly leaner than a guy who eats 100g protein consistently on the same calories.

Its not a massively gigantic difference, its just that extra icing on the cake kinda deal.

The extra 100g grams of protein within that 2500 calories (400g calories coming from protein) mean that 400 calories the person is not 100% getting, so they're getting like maybe 50% of those calories)

So so at 2500 calories 200g protein, ur total intake ends up at about 2100 calories after the (200 protein = 800 -50% = 400 calories) protein digestion energy loss calories) is taken into account.

Compared 2500 calories 100g protein, ur total intake ends up at about 2300 calories after the (100g protein = 400 calories -50% 200 calories) protein digestion energy loss is taken into account.


This is comparing 100g vs 200g protein intake on 2,500 calories, this is comparing 2X the protein intake

This is why there's not much difference between 150g and 200g, because the protein digestion burn off of calories gets closer at that point.

Ideally if you wanted to maximize fatloss & muscle retention you would eat as many grams of protein as you while staying with your calorie budget for the day, but obviously we're not robots, so we like to eat a combination of all 3 macros, so we don't go full robotic mode like that, but that said, you could do it every now then and see a little boost in your fatloss while on the same exact calorie intake.

I've been dieting to lose weight and have been making steady progress. Everyone at work keeps telling me I don’t need to watch my calories, just to load up on protein since the body burns more energy digesting it—but they’re all severely overweight. Chicken legs and thighs are cheaper than whole chickens just eat more protein and keep carbs high to keep muscle repairing at least.
