Your paying for the other 37 km lol
>>
running is a suicide cult and mental illness
>>
you pay to compete. Hope this cleared it up my retards.
>>
Gives a good goal to work towards in a training cycle.
Professional timing and age groups.
Roads are closed.
You'll go faster because of your innate competitor.

If you're calling a 5k a marathon you're fat.
>>
I do it for the shwag, couldn't tell you the last time I bought any running gear besides shoes. They're always giving away shirts/jackets/sweatbands/bottles etc. Plus there's usually food and drinks after

Same reason you might pay to do an official weightlifting competition. You pay to enter because you want to be part of an actual competition. If you don't care about that, you can just continue lifting weights on your own, and that's fine. Just like going on runs wherever and whenever you want for free is fine. You pay to sign up for the competition if you actually want to be part of an official competition. If you don't care about that, you don't.
>>
I hope the lady that said that can one day find a job so she can afford a marathon.
>>
>>77268540
everyone who's ever run a marathon and lived is ritualistically mogging the same individual, is this histories most mogged man?
>>
>>77268534
what kind of food
>>
>>77268554
Depends on the event. I've done some that have food trucks and beer and shit, that's always fun. But usually it's just fruit and little protein snacks, cliff bars, etc. The way I see it, I was going to run anyways. If I sign up, I get free breakfast + a shirt and people to race against

5km is a pretty based distance for general health if you train carefully like OP's silly foid thinks marathons are, but the *real* 42km is for skellies seeking the above chronic diseases and probably lots more.
>>
You don't "pay", you do fundraising for a cause and the running is the reason people donate.

>link/association/correlation meta-analysis
Shouldve just said "in my opinion" you didnt need any "studies"
>>
>>77268519
Do people get any actual joy out of running? If som what does it feel like? Every time I try it I don’t enjoy it and default back to weights. I guess lifting heavy things and putting them down for muscle mass is just my thing.
>>
>>77268630
>Do people get any actual joy out of running?
Runner's High.

>>77268519
>I don't get why people go out to an arcade, you can literally download games and play at home!
>I don't get why people go out to a bar, you can literally drink some beers from your fridge right now!
>I don't get why people go to concerts, you can just put on the music at home for free!
>>
>>77268630
It's genuinely addicting. If you have good music and you're in the zone it's euphoric.
>>
>>77268553
Probably not
Dude did it at night in hilly/mountainous terrain wearing sandals (if anything) after a goddamn battle. Doubt he could carry much water either
Modern marathons take place on relatively flat terrain with modern diets/water/running equipment.
>>
>>77268519
woman or not she's right. don't pay to run in a gay little event you stupid goys. run for free.
>>
>what is prize money
Of course women and cucks don't know shit.
How do you think these runners make money?
>>
>>77268548
Do you spend money on literally every single thing you see to prove you aren't poor? Have you ever noticed that billionaires don't pay $20,000 dollars for a loaf of bread even though its chump change to them?
>>
>>77268580
That sounds reasonable until your read a bunch of the defensive replies in this thread and realize people are in fact paying to "compete" or to prove they aren't poor.
>>
>>77268656
99.9999% of marathons don't have prize money despite having an entry fee. For the ones that do, you aren't going to be winning shit.
>>
>>77268657
Nice attempts at playing the strawman game but here's the thing. If an events has a price of admission, then yea, you're gonna have to pay or go do your own free version in your backyard. That's how modern life works.

You can tell /fit/ is actually out of shape because nobody noticed:

The first reply to the thread pointed this out

What are the odds?

Have to disagree on live music. The energy is palpable. Go see a Zydeco band in person and tell me I am wrong.
I rarely if ever listen to it at home, but live that is a damn good time.
>>
>>77268519
You're paying for the little medal, the free gelslop, and the joy of getting sticky shoes running through all the disposed gel packets

Damn she is violently fuckable still at 31. No sign of the wall whatsoever. Shame about the stupid tattoos.
>>
>>77268519
Depends on the marathon you're doing ig. The honolulu marathon is one of the most competitive marathons in the world because the 1st place medal is made of solid gold so if you are a hardcore rooner it's actually worth training for and flying out to get a chance at it

white boys cannot compete and invented steroids to cheat and try to compete with Black Men

He also ran much further than that, the Marathon was the last bit.

Couldn't you just slip in from the audience and start rooning for free? And if you cross the finish line first you can lol at them all freaking out.
>>
>>77269152
>it is a white man's concept to give hundreds of cash to the jews organizing the marathons so he's allowed to run
I guess being put on a leash by the jews is truly the mark of the aryan man, huh? lmao
>>
>>77268519
I usually run them for some humane society or breast cancer research or whatever. I know jeets don't understand the concepts of helping other people or having fun, though, so I can see why she is confused.
>>
>>77268530
Just use strava.
>>
>>77268519
Marathons section off the rest of the distance so you can run without stopping
>>
>I ran a marathon, here's the medal that proves i participated and finished in a reasonable timeframe
vs
>yeah dude i totally run the marathon the other day
Might as well argue med school is worthless and the hospital should totally hire you because you read medical manuals in your spare time
>>
>>77271806
A medical certification from an outside body is necessary to work in the field.

You (dumb nigga) are literally paying for clout lmao, and showing off a medal above the age of 12 is pathetic.
>>
bait aside if you do that in a city you'll have to stop at red lights, avoid roads, and slalom around people on the sidewalk. In a proper race you'll have the entire 42km free of obstacles, people handing you drinks along the way, people cheering you on, and competitors pushing you to go hard (actually very important if you want to maximize your performance). Advanced runners pay to compete and to have official times, casuals pay for a fun experience with other like-minded people
