Are these worth getting for meal prepping
>>
>>77270981
It's a scam.
>>
>>77270984
Elaborate
>>
>>77270981
if you want to make rice as well as make some stews, its very nice.
>>
Can't you just boil them in a pot?
>>
>>77270990
yea you can make that way too but rice cooker is automatic and cooks it perfectly each time. You can tell the difference between someone who cooked in a pot and someone who just used the rice cooker
>>
>>77270981
I think they're worth the money. I bought a cheap one from target and use it multiple times a week
>>
>>77270995
I can't. But maybe im just that skilled at cooking rice in a pot.
>>
>>77270981
$20 for years of convenience. Get one. Put rice in, rinse it if you like then add the water. No hassle. get one. get one friendo
>>
>>77271001
then why would you ask if you can cook them in a pot or not?
>>
>>77271004
wasnt me
>>
>>77270990
OP here, I already do that and the rice seems fine to me but these things must be popular for a reason I assume
>>
>>77271006
Then you most definitely cant cook rice
>>
>>77271007
>must be popular for a reason I assume
You might as well ask why people buy air fryers
>>
>>77270981
If you're just having boiled rice you don't really need more than a pot. There's a pretty big gap between the shitty rice cookers that just boil water then click off and the ones that steam rice. The ones that steam are great for if you use rice for more things like fried rice. But they are substantially more expensive. The shit boilers works serviceably for just grain slop pretty much all of it oatmeal, barley whatever it's just a magnet that completes a circuit. When the bowl gets too hot the it loses magnetic cohesion and that shuts it off. It's kind of genius but paying more for this kind doesn't make it do anything else.
>>
>>77271013
Because they use less electricity and cook food quicker than ovens
>>
>>77270981
i was anti-ricecooker crew for years til i got one
extremely convenient
just get one
>>
>>77270981
yeah it just werks
>>
>>77271007
People be lazy.

Just eat some eggs instead.

It's the same as boiling in a pot except you don't need to check if it's done and turn off the heat, you just press a button and forget it

To me it is absolutely worth it
>>
>>77271732
That's because you're fat.
>>
>>77270981
I don't really see the point. I guess you can set them to start at a certain time so you have fresh rice when you get home? Who cares. I thought they were legit because filipinos always have like three of them but my flip gf just cooks it in a pot anyway.
>>
>>77270981
If I were to get one of these, I would not meal prep the rice. It takes 30 seconds of time to just throw it on, may as well enjoy fresh rice.
Consider an instant pot, which makes cooking beans and making stock from bones easy. You can also do stuff like make yogurt in them. Rice cookers make better rice thoughever.
>>
>>77270981
Yes it cooks rice perfectly every time with zero thought. Zoryushi is goated

You'll never need more than one button on the rice cooker.
>>
>>77272237
>my flip gf just cooks it in a pot anyway.
sounds like she too poor to get one, which makes sense since she is flip
>>
>>77272270
>every filipino has like three of them
you can buy these things for like ten bucks.
>>
>>77270981
>yes goy, cook your food in plastic container with poisonous nonstick coating, it's so convenient
Or don't be utter retard and just cook it in a pot.
>>
>>77272232
I mean, so are you.
>>
>>77272290
yep. went to Target to buy one and saw that the internal bowl was a plastic piece of shit that could possible chip flakes of goychem into my rice. no thanks. I just continue boiling the rice in my stainless steel pot.
>>
>>77270981
Rice cookers are set and forget. Using a pot is messy and a pain cause you have to constantly stir and make sure it doesn't stick. I use mine alot and theyre like 15$ just get one
>>
>>77272381
You absolute fucking mongoloids disgust me. Here are few simple steps that even retarded monkeys can understand.
>weight rice
>wash and rinse it few times
>throw it into a pot, add fresh water, use 1:1,4-1,8 rice to water ratio
>cover with lid, put it on stove, high heat
>as soon as steam starts to escape, lower the heat, as low as it goes
>let it boil for 15 minutes
>turn it off, keep the lid on retard, don't even look at it
>after another 10 minutes, it's done
If this is too much work for you, then you deserve to eat jewshit from you chink cooker faggots.

>put rice in
>turn it on

>>77272396
Wow you sure know alot about rice
>>
>>77270981
It cook rice in a specific way, if you like it you won't get it like that any other way, you will get it that way each time it's a positive and negative.
For the purpose of meal prepping it's not really worth it, it's the longest way to cook rice, it requires cleaning and depending on the amount you want to make you might need a big one.
>>
>>77270981
Do you not have $30 to spend on a kitchen appliance? How much rice are you eating on a daily basis? What exactly are you confused about?
>>
>>77270981
Fucking love these things. I used to swear by stove cooking my rice until I actually got a nice one. You can prep rice, beans, oats, damn near anything in it if you're lazy.
>>
>>77270981
>$20
>portable
>clean
>energy efficient
>throw rice and water, put some frozen veggies and a couple eggs on the top basket
>Push one button and go fuck off for a while
>Whenever you want you come back to perfectly cooked rice, eggs and veggies, and it even kept everything warm for you.

Literally no reason to hate on rice cookers other than being an edgy contrarian
>>
>throw 3 cups of rice and 3 cups of water in
>plug it in and turn it on
Takes a couple mins and makes me enough rice for like 4 days.
Well worth imo.
>>
>>77270995
This is extremely reliant on the brand and quality of rice cooker. I had a medium expensive one off Amazon that cooked my rice perfectly, but it had some internal venting system that was not possible to flush out. Over time, it built up gunk and started to smell horrid.

I bought a cheap one after with no internal venting but just hole in the glass lid. This one burns the bottom layer of rice to the pot so you get 80% decently cooked rice, and the rest is burnt.

Now I just stove top it. It's not hard to do once you learn the measurements.

I kinda like the burnt bits. Although on mine it's not really burnt burnt it's just a little bit of crisp
>>
>>77270990
you can but a rice cooker is set&forget also it can keep rice warm for a couple hours

you don't need to get an expensive one the cheap ones at target do just as good a job
>>
100 percent worth it for meal prepping with zero effort. Put rice in, put water in, turn on, fuck off until it's done. Comes out perfect every time, not a gimmick. Ask your chink friends if they use one, 9/10 will say yes.

If you wouldn't really benefit from extra time or you have a hard-on for doing things the more attentive way, you'll live without it. Made rice in a pot for years without problems, but getting one made the mental load of rice making precisely zero.
