I'm looking to buy one of these because I moved into an apartment that doesn't have a lot of space. But I just looked at my door frame and I'm pretty sure it would be instantly destroyed. It's strong on the sides so I'm thinking of just adding a piece of wood across the entire length of the top frame to spread the load, would that work??
Here's a visual diagram of the situation. I have not bought the bar yet.
>>77271785You exist to answer my superfluous fitness questions. If that makes you angry, then so be it.
>thinks a bar visibly bolted to the fucking wall is held in place by the door frame belowOP has a right to vote btw, let that sink in
>>77271812>visibly boltedis that so? you might reevaluate your right to live desu anon because that sure as fuck is not bolted onto anything anywhere
>>77271782The way these are designed most of the force is horizontal into the wall and side of the door frame not downwards.
>>77271782Get one of these. Specifically the ones with the metal caps you drill in the doorframe. I'm pretty sure the ''max weight rating'' on these is based on not using the caps, because I do weighted pullups on them with +40kg and never had an issue. The drill holes are super tiny so when you move out of the apartment you can easily just fill them and paint over them.
>>77271849Thanks anon, what's the name of it?
>>77271854it doesn't have a name
>>77271782These are fine, after some years it will start to bend a little but it won't break the doorframe.
>>77271857Nvm I found it, TY
>>77271854If you search any of these on Amazon you'll find it.>JFIT Doorway Pull-Up Bar >ProsourceFit Pull Up Bar>Sunny Health & Fitness Doorway Pull Up BarThey're all pretty much the same though. Just use the caps and they'll be pretty much indestructible.

>>77271782My doorframe is made with reinforced steel. Sucks to be American
>>77271782you have it facing the wrong way. Have used one for years and door frame is fine. Can also use it for push ups with different arm spacing.
>>77271782it will 100% destroy the frame unless youre under 150 pounds, and even then it will probably destroy it eventually
Just get some dimensional lumber and borrow or rent some tools and build a frame to do basic calisthenics on.
>>77271812>visibly bolted to the fucking wallWhat the fuck are you talking about?
OP can you find a way to improvise, say outside, somewhere like a park? Cuz Im never getting one of those bars, no way
You will be fine but it will dent the vertical part of the doorframe with the horizontal bars. The soft padding won't do shit to prevent it.
>>77271812This has to be b8. You cannot actually be this fucking ignorant and smug about it.t. Owns that exact model.
>>77272818Yeah, you definitely wouldn't want to live here if you could.
>>77272860How the do you mount it on the door side?
>>77271782This dented and scratched the shit out of my door frame when I had one a long time ago. Never actually broke the frame or snapped it or anything. Also these ruled. Mine was next to my bathroom so every time I went to the bathroom I would bang out a quick 5. My biceps were huge
>>77271782I have this exact bar at home it has served me for 7 years
>>77271782just buy this, it doesnt take that much space
