Supposedly, this is caused by too quick of a weight gain, then too quick of a weightloss. hence, it is recommended to diet slowly but steady and not gain too much weight to quickly if you can avoid it.If that is true, why do fighters never have any problems with loose skin? They balloon up dozens of pounds between fights, then have to lose the weight extremely quickly in a matter of weeks or EVEN FUCKING DAYS. So they should be a picture book example for loose skin problems, but there isn't a single one of them showing any indication of it, even when, THIS IS IMPORTANT;, at a rather advanced age for athletics. How is this possible? What even IS loose skin?
>>77272176It's not (just) about speed of gain/loss. Even when they're losing dozens of pounds and not just actual water weight, it's nothing. Your skin is elastic enough. Gain and lose like 100 lbs, it's a different story, no matter how slow you do it
>>77272261So what's the limit before you get loose skin? I need to lose around 40lbs
>>77272176Because it's all waterLosing or gaining fat or connective tissue is what causes loose skin since they keep it tight
>>77272400If you're at/near your max weight, not in the middle of losing a whole bunch already, I doubt you'll have any. I went from my fattest at 230ish to 165 lbs with no loose skin (I do have some stretch marks from getting fat though, faded but can still feel them). At 35 years old it that matters, dunno. If you do have a small amount you can easily fill it out with muscle. It's not worth worrying about, really. The huge skin curtain cases you see used to be enormous, and I always see them say it was still worth losing the weight. If you just want more people's experience for assurance, maybe ask in a bigger thread like /fat/ instead. More eyeballs and more likely attached to someone who's got the experience.
>>77272176fat people are not known for healthy lifestyle. so their skin doesnt do anymore what it should do.
>>77272176Because most people are 100+ lbs overweight and are that weight for so long that they lose their skin elasticity.
