Looking to join the military so i got to get in shape. Started my strict dieting. I realize with food, the feeling I chase after is feeling stuffed. Not so much food being tasty. I treated everyday like a mini feast. One feast a day. Sometimes multiple meals being a feast. I like to eat until I am bloated and laying down, ready to nap.
There have been days where I eat until I fall asleep, wake up, eat until I fall asleep again. If left uncontrolled I will loop on that, and I cant even play much video games or watch TV since I eat myself to sleep.

Now with my diet, it feels like every meal is just shy of being satisfying. Eating just enough until before it becomes fun.

I miss that stuffing feeling. But it also does feel better to eat light meals, I dont have to nap after a meal. And can actually do stuff.

OMAD has been pretty chill these past 2-3 weeks and I think doing this for a few more months shouldn't be a problem.

I have been experimenting with different ingredients (gnocchi, tuna, veggies, etc.) to come up with a fairly nutritious meal that lets me throw everything into a slow cooker for two and a half hours and be done with it.

Settling on:
300g chicken breast
350g broccoli (that stuff is FILLING)
250g kidney beans (partially blended to make it creamier)
250g frozen spinach
200ml store bought basilico sauce
100ml chicken broth
garlic, chili flakes, paprika for seasoning

While the end product looks like putrid slop it tastes great and most importantly: solid macros (~800kcal, ~105g protein) and I don't think about food for another 24h because I'm full.

Having 200g skyr with 20g crushed kitkat before workouts and afterwards my slop meal with a reese's whey protein shake.

Which ultimately results in ~1200kcal and ~150g protein within a 3h window.

NTA but what helped me was "attempting" multiple extended fasts over the course of a month earlier this year. Went from 3 days to 4 days to 7 days and after accepting that this wasn't gonna be "the way", I also noticed that I was feeling satiated/full a lot faster than I used to.

From what little I've read up on it has less to do with your stomach actually shrinking but rather your hormones responsible for appetite and hunger being re-regulated or reset. I would obviously advise doing retarded shit like that and maybe it's just placebo but worth looking into.

There are so many variables to it. The overcooking IS something I have considered and I looked into it. Biggest losses would potentially be Vitamin C and Folate (B9) alongside antioxidants although for the former two I am already popping a small multivitamin with some omega-3 capsules as well.

And I'll be completely honest, while I am aware of the benefits of antioxidants on a surface level, I don't want to personally obsess over it and will likely just throw in the veggies near the end.

That being said, it got me curious and there are apparently ways to "restore" for example sulforaphane that is lost when overcooking broccoli and is responsible for stimulating the body's own antioxidant defense system simply by adding some raw mustard or radish into the dish since they contain an enzyme called myrosinase that aids in sulforaphane restoration. You need to change your mindset from goal-oriented to process-oriented.
It's nice to have goals, but they aren't great for the day-to-day, because you inherently are in a "failure" state since you haven't reached your goal yet, and all the effort you put in doesn't change your "failure" state until you hit your goal, which you only get to enjoy for like a day, before the next goal puts you back into a "failure" state. Makes it easy for an all-or-nothing mindset.
Instead, focus on the process to determine success. It means your checkbox of success should look like this:
1) Did I hit my target macros/calories for today?
2) Did I hit my workout goal for today?
If so, success, and that's it. No need to focus on anything else.
If you "failed" 1 or 2, you just failed for the 1 day. Know that when you start out, of course you will fail often, as you are figuring things out. Focus on how you can improve, so that tomorrow you can hit the checkbox on the 2 questions above, and therefore be successful in your goals.
In essence, you need to focus on ensuring the process (checkbox 1 and 2) are consistently being checked off, and spending your energy on optimizing 1 and 2 so that you hit it most of the time (I like the 80% rule personally). Your calendar might look like a mixed red/green bag, but if you truly focus on optimizing 1 and 2 (avoiding triggers, eating the right meals, finding the right balance), your calendar will be filled with more green checkmarks than red Xs. That is success.
No mention of weight, nor any need to focus on it.
What will happen, is the weight will come off automagically, without you having to think about it, as long as 1) and 2) are what you focus on. The only reason to check weight (maybe once a week; as long as you don't crash out, I do it daily) is to ensure you are actually hitting your targets (e.g., if you are gaining weight on a 500 calorie deficit, you are not on a calorie deficit, so figure out what is wrong)

Because what you are eating matters far less than how long you are fasting. If you are only eating one meal a day it barely matters what's in it as long as it isn't ultra processed or filled with sugars.

With that said, if you are trying to optimize your minimal meals the goal becomes to maximize nutritional diversity. You have very little food intake to hit all of the fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals, omega 3s, and electrolytes that your body wants. A multi vitamin, a meat, and vegetables gets you most of the way there. Salon once or twice a week will get your omega 3s without the mercury poisoning, and I personally like almond milk for the calcium. If you start becoming light headed or get a headache, you might be electrolyte deficient which can be solved with gatorade or liquid IV.
