Recently I started feeling something "catch" behind my left knee on the inner side during leg curls. It doesn't hurt but the feeling is so weird it makes me feel uneasy. I'm pretty sure it's my tendon. Could this be a problem as I increase the wieghts?
>>77514367Flex your quad to set the joint before putting weight on it and basicslly shearing it off when you move your calf/foot laterally/to the side and twist. What I'm guessing is basically happening is a few strands of tendon or muscle are taking too much load to be sustainable. Like imagine trying to bench while twisting your arms outwards and trying to cause injury. You want to keep it flush most of the time unless you are adding 5lbs a week amd shit to low reps and don't notice more of a stinging pain as the weight goes from too easy to actual 1rm.
Try doing a few sets of calves before your leg curls. That's what Sam Sulek said helped with his discomfort in the exact area you mentioned.
>>77514367You probably lack stabilizer muscles from real world movement if your only leg shit is from the gym and also if you are adding mass to your whole body then walking on it a lot might be what causes it. Stuff like swimming and pool therapy can definitely help if it progresses or is agitated but make sure you aren't becoming increasingly inflexible or else one day it's snap city when you twist it wrong and part of the movement is fucked because it's so tight and pulls on your kneecap or some shit then you twist under load amd it's gone. Hm now that i think of it a lot of athletes with chicken legs get their shit snapped try to build atg and flexibility.
>>77514436>from real world movementYou mean sedentarism? I have a job where I walk around, kneel down and get up a lot.
>>77514476If you aren't already stromg/athletic blue collar workers usually get a shit ton of injuries and aren't strong. I never had to deal with this I used to play football and was fat so I'm kind of recommending what I learned from bench. Just don't go overboard on the lifting then have to nurse a tweaked knee which fucks it up more. Repetitive stress injury usually isn't snap city from the load it's from lack of recovery and constant use agitates it. Lol I bet you can't find a doctor who could fix your shit like this yet those autists have ferraris.
>>77514476I would guess lunges to really work deep in the knee, atg squats, and keep it light on leg curls until you know how to do it heavy if it's even needed. Literally just brace your knee itself by flexing it and the shit right behind it so that under load it is neutral. You're welcome I'm off to get drunk.
