Have used an AFO for an ankle sprain and a knee brace for an LCL tear before, but found carbon fiber plates to prevent plantar fasciitis is the only kind really worth running prophylactically.

carbon fiber pl8 protip I just learned the hard way: duct-tape the edges or they can chew through your shoe and necessitate a few milliliters of rubber cement to hold the sole on.
