I spent so long in erlang development that I forgot this could be an issue.

>God damn, I didn't realise how much I hate it when languages don't have proper lexical scope and variable shadowing
Today I remembered once again that in C you can't do:
struct type *x = something();
if (...) {
struct type2 *x = (struct type2 *) x;
}

Because in C, x on the RHS refers to the x on the LHS, no the x in the outter scope.
This fucking sucks, you can do this in languages with non-retarded name resolution rules.
>>
>>107599750
actually never mind the casting, there are use cases for simply copying a variable
>>
>>107599750
I have written code that'll actually refer to itself in its own declaration, which that'll break.
But also that's niche as fuck and I'll agree that Rust's shadowing (and whatever it copied that from) is generally nicer.

As long as we all agree that python's way is crap.

I'm struggling enough with just that. I just got to the assembly part in nandgame. I thought it would be fun, but it's the opposite of fun.

According to HN, these new models are so powerful that the code writes itself, and bugs are easily detected and fixed.
But then you have major libraries like pic related LibXML2 that are going under- or unmaintained.

>XML toolkit implemented in C
Rust troons will jump on this and make XML.rs written in rust which will magically become a dependency of literally everything overnight. Gentoo fags btfo. You vill compile ze rust compiler und you vill spend 5 hours compiling Rust libraries.

>>107598886
I dont have any problems with this as a gentoo user. firefox takes a long time to compile with pgo and lto already and that gets updated way more often than rust code

For one, the last hundred check-ins are useless drivel like COC updates.
Second, it doesn’t need anyone fucking with it.
It’s bug free and working fine.
Third, anyone that has a copy of this is never upgrading it. Like my company. We don't upgrade anything. Ever. We’re still using what’s called angularjs1.1 and the upgrade from 1.0 almost killed the company.

There's unlikely to be any more phones released in 2025.
The Oneplus 15 wins phone of the year.
>>

How can you tell what phone that is from a photograph of a newspaper image of some grainy CCTV?
>>
Out of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 17 Base Model which has the better battery life? I want to upgrade from my Galaxy S23 to a phone with similar footprint, flagship specs, and an actually usable battery life that doesn't die in less than a day if I actually use it, take photos/videos, navigation, play games, etc. I can legit kill it in like 3 hours. It only lasts me the full day because I'm employed and can't use it all day...
>inb4 oneplus/vivo mini phones
chinkware
>inb4 pro max or ultra phones
too big, I want <6.4 inches, ideally <5.5 inches but that's literally impossible unless you buy knockoff phones from aliexpress or get a very old phone, so let's settle for 6.1-6.3
>>
>>107600726
Just get the 17 Pro, the battery is so much better than the other two. With Apple you will always feel like shit if you don't get the Pro model.

Those RAM sticks you were looking at has now gone up from $300 to $3000? Who cares, just buy it. Why save? In 2026, AI is going to make you super wealthy like Elon Musk, so there's no need to save.

Buy what you want, right NOW!

Especially if you're eyeing a Tesla.

>There's a timeline in which China saves the DDR4 market

CXMT just got orders not too long ago from their government to phase our DDR4 to focus primarily on DDR5.

So they're going to be all-in on the latest.
>>
>>107599719
Elon Musk is undeniably a retard but judging from all the AI bubble shenanigans this seems to be a common sentiment among the people throwing tons of money into the AI fire pit. Like "AI will literally change everything who cares about debt and money and shit"
>>
>>107600626
>There's a timeline in which China saves the DDR4 market
I see that as a plausible timeline since apparently China views domestic chip production as a national level "Manhattan project" and they absolutely have the resources and political will to make it a reality. By this time Trump and his tariffs will be history as well which makes me believe cheap RAM will flood the market eventually.

>Expansion of regulatory zones would alleviate housing needs outside the cities or in certain zones.
Exactly, I meant building outside the cities. Combined with tiny/small house movement, partially self build, etc. It would instantly alleviate the housing markets, which is exactly why it won't happen.
>self building
I'll explain it from the view of a euro. Net wages here aren't that high. If you net 3k after tax you are already doing pretty well. Now, assume a house needs 1000 hours of labor for which I need to pay, including tax, 55 euros an hour.
The build cost will be 55k on labor.
If I want to do it myself I'm not as efficient, so lets say I need 1200 hours. If I reduce my working hours by 8 (20% reduction) for a year, that will cost about 10% net, so 300 euros a month.
Add in the weekends and the help of family, friends or waifu and you should be able to scrounge 1200 hours in one or two years.
So you just saved 50k on your house.

While retarded from a specialization point of view, high taxation combined with low wages makes it much cheaper to do something yourself.

If you include the standard I/O library, C is Turing complete.

However, freestanding C without the standard library is only PDA-complete.

>>107600677
why worry about python? shit lives rent free in ur head.

ECMAscript based. It's the language of the internet, any project worth presenting to the world and gaining traction should be in JS. Well, if you're making a game obviously not, but you'd still need a WEBSITE for your game. DOM manipulation is cool, the ecosystem is massive, there's so much to uncover

Is there any real difference between 320 and FLAC?
51 replies and 7 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107590972
Understand it like this: FLAC is CD Quality or potentially better (although not perceptively so), while 320kbps is compressed by removing data containing certain frequencies that are not as perceptible to the human ear while trying to achieve as much "transparency" (that is, an indistinction from the CD (FLAC or other "lossless" source) as much as possible. So in short, 320kbps contains less musical data than the original source be it FLAC, CD, Vinyl etc. but tries to make it "sound" like the original source. It's up to you to notice the difference.

does anyone here know much about monitors? bought a 2.0 hdmi only monitor (asus vg279qm) for my new ps5 but now I'm reading that it won't run 120 fps on the playstation, I've researched a bit and it seems asus official account in australia has said it will run 1080p 120 fps on ps5 but theres user accounts that say it just goes to 60 fps and under asus official 1080p 120hz supported monitors its not there... There's not much information online and I phoned asus support and the indian didn't even know.
I tried to cancel it immediately on amazon after I realised but they wouldn't let me. Should I bother even accepting the package or just have them return it?
Also was thinking regardless of if I can get a refund or not I would like to try 1440p or 4k resolution. I'm just really retarded at choosing which ones to get, I feel like I dropped the ball with this asus one. Can anyone recommend a decent monitor to go with a Ps5 for 200-250 euro?

There is a definite bug with Chrome and certain "extensions" that cause it to always return with a "mistyped Captcha" error. The issue can obviously be averted by simply using a different browser but the issue remains, and it is up to the devs to fix it.
