Why are ""people"" (gamers) still so anti-VA? Modern VA panels have absurdly fast response times on par with IPS (faster actually except for black to black). On the plus side you get the blackest blacks, whitest whites and no backglow messing up everything. I understand OLED is superior to both and TN is the competitive choice but it's weird seeing how many people still tell each other to steer clear of VA when your average $200 VA panel is almost certainly better than a $200 IPS one.

brownest thread on this board right now
Is software engineering dead?>The consensus is a resounding yes, the job has completely changed, mostly for the better. Devs are shifting from being code writers to being AI managers or "agent managers.">The most common workflow involves running multiple Claude sessions simultaneously, like a team of junior devs. You spend the start of your day crafting high-level prompts for your tasks, and then the rest of the day is spent reviewing, testing, and integrating the AI-generated code. This confirms OP's feeling of being "differently busy." While actual keyboard time for coding is way down, time spent on planning, prompt engineering, and especially code reviews is way up.>The payoff is huge. Many report finishing a day's or even a week's worth of tasks by noon, freeing up time for higher-level strategic thinking, planning the next day's work, or just enjoying more free time. However, you still have to be the senior engineer in the room; the AI can be confidently wrong, use outdated libraries, or get lazy, so manual oversight is critical.>Pro-tips from the thread: * Go hands-free: Many are ditching typing for voice-to-text tools like Whispr Flow or Superwhisper to dictate prompts, citing typing as the new bottleneck. * Stop the sycophant: To get Claude to challenge your ideas, give it a strong persona in the system prompt, like "You are an elite Staff Software Engineer who pushes back on bad ideas." * Work in parallel: Use git worktrees to manage multiple AI-driven tasks on the same repo at once.https://old.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1pun9u5/devs_using_ai_coding_tools_daily_what_does_your/

https://old.reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/1puvhqn/anthropic_cofounder_warns_by_summer_2026_frontier/>This is already my reality at work. It genuinely feels like moving at light speed while everyone else is standing still.>The velocity on projects and the free time left over are unreal. People around me are taking two weeks to scope something out, write up a plan, and get stakeholders aligned. Meanwhile, I'll meet with a stakeholder in the morning and have a working prototype in their hands by the end of the day. By Friday, that business problem is solved with something actually running in production. And I've already moved on because I'm three projects deep into the next thing.>They're not actually standing still. They're doing things. It's just this other world they live in. When you're working with agents across different foundation models, it genuinely feels like you have entire teams outside your normal work colleagues. And together, you just crush it. No barriers. No resistance. No excuses. Just getting shit done.>The scope of what's accomplished in compressed time is wild. If you're truly leveraging this, everyone around you appears to be standing still. Kind of a limitless moment occasionally. I'm not saying that to be cringeworthy; it absolutely does feel like a different world.>I don't think the non-adopters have any sense of this. The train left the station, and they are still at home eating breakfast.

why did the kurobaex guy fuck up the entire app?
The scrollbar got fucked up. It's become harder to touch it to scroll. Posts displayed on screen don't match with what the scrollbar tells you, which is evident if you post, get a (You), or use filters that highlight posts. The release version has a brighter colored section at the center of the scrollbar that shows posts from the current screen which got removed. Currently the scrollbar seems to use where it is in the thread's location to show posts, e.g at the top of a thread it uses the top portion of the bar, at the middle of the thread it uses the center part, and at the bottom of the thread it uses the bottom part. This may not be obvious on shorter threads but on longer threads like on /vg/ it's easy to spot.
Test
I use both Chance and Kuroba just to piss you guys off.

My new year's resolution is to step up my insanity. Being a little insane outwardly in times of overt and obvious desperation has worked out so far. The people I work with appear to be just as insane, just in different ways. When the muzzle comes off, things tend to work out; let's throw off the whole bridle.
I figured out why I don't like my new job. I didn't expect everything physical to be so much worse than the ships I abandoned, with the exact same lack of power to fix anything simple.

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

as cool as luajit might be, the language is horrible. it uses the shitty if/then/aids syntax, and array indexing starts at 1. i would never use it personally.
>>107659294>>107661823A good language requires an IQ so high to use it that idiots can't, even with help.
>>107658714R
>>107658778if only it used snake_case instead of camelCase it would've been perfect
>>107658612My problem with lua's syntax is that the nonuniformity of the various block open and close delimiters makes it harder to write tools to manipulate its code. For instance, I use a hotkey ctrl-[ to insert a `{}` pair around my cursor, but something like that wouldn't work in lua because for functions you don't have an opener but have `end` as a closer; for `if` blocks you use `then ... end`; for loops you use `do ... end`; etcThis is why one reason I prefer lispy syntax. BUT >>107658987 unfortunately isn't a replacement for lua's syntax because the ideologue who made fennel decided that early returns are a bad thing and so you can't easily do early returns in fennel (despite there being no technical reason why not)I get why people like the english word block delimiters. But I find that when you work for a long time (100+ hours; which actually isn't that long given how long big projects take) in a programming language, all of its syntax is abstracted away in your brain, and the syntax doesn't really matter, at least aesthetically (it still affects your ability to quickly identify things, how fast it takes to type things, etc)
