>Give it back, jamal.
Not stolen.
I really find a lot of USB flash drives, in my line of work. (Professional cleaner)
Most of these are old sub 4GB drives, some are even mp3 players, some aren't even used and have these manufacture's PDF/Drivers on them.
Sometimes I find odd files, installation media, CVs, homework, pirated movies/music
But nearly all of these that have something have some sort of malware on them, the majority are empty.
One time I found bitcoin wallet.

You could just learn Latex if you really want something good.
>>108502149
A good way is to write all 0s on the drive and then rewrite it again all 1s. After that you can be pretty sure anything you had there is irrecoverable.
If you've been storing a copy of all the data McAfee got whack'd for and must be triple sure to erase it, do more passes but 2 is more than enough for what you're asking.
>>
>>108502032
>>108502149
You can't.
You can't get root/raw disk access to read deleted data on these devices. But even if you could (by desoldering the chip and reading it) All modern iOS devices use encryption by default, so you get nothing.

>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.

Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal

I mean be as paranoid as you want but MAS is trusted by pretty much the whole Windows hobbyist community.
>>
>>108501972
i mean if you're concerned, just check autoruns and make sure there's nothing weird in logon, check scheduled tasks and make sure there's nothing weird there. hitting those two things hamstrings 95% of anything actually malicious because nearly all basic malware persists through startup shit or scheduled tasks. run mbam on top of that and you should have a fairly high certainty that nothing is wrong with your setup. i guess you could audit your network traffic if you're extra-paranoid.

>are you able to bring up the boot menu and see if there are multiple boot entries? can you try booting into different ones?
I only have two entries. The fucked one, and then an entry for the PC's storage drive (labeled as "Windows Boot Manager: [name of the hard drive]")
I'm not sure why it has an entry, there's no OS on it. But it's always been in the boot menu even before this most recent wipe+reinstall. Selecting it does literally nothing, it doesn't even take me away from the boot menu.
>i think you already did bcd repair stuff right?
That was me earlier as well, yes, but since then I've wiped all OSes off the PC completely (using Diskpart's clean as well) and installed Windows 11 fresh. I don't see how a BCD issue would be possible at this point.
For good measure, I wiped the drive again and re-installed completely with the updated ISO, but it boot looped for a while even during the fucking installation process, so I'm not hopeful.

Is it possible my BIOS is too old for Windows 11? That seems far-fetched to me, it's not like my motherboard is 10+ years old, but I know BIOS updates are a thing and I've never done one in my life.
>>
>>108502105
>>108502118
it could be a firmware bug that only affects 11. bios update might be worth a shot at this point.

Thanks for the input. All the mech keyboards with outemu switches I've tried suffer the same fate within a month or so of usage. I've since used a hotswap keyboard and tried gateron milky yellow, leobog gray shaft, kailh box whites, and the huano yellows. I've used each of them for about 6 months up to a year+ and I haven't noticed key chatter. It's probably there but it's not as bad as old outemus. Currently maining the huano yellows but I got curious about the creamy outemus.

Primarily gonna use it for teaching i.e. searching for worksheet and lessons. Gonna do some manga reading as well. Ended up getting the xiaomi pad 8 instead since it was on sale on my country (shopee) for about 280-ish USD and it came with a free keyboard case. Overall pretty good. The green one looks nice.

I hate the shitty threads you people make.
I want to share what has opened my eyes, for other novices like me, who are trying to leave Winslop 11.

This thread is supposed to put you on the right track to making your own decision,
after reading this thread the fog of Linux won't be there anymore,
you will know what you want and you will find the distro that is suitable for you.

> 1. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Linux_Distribution_Timeline.svg
This old image includes 95% of all Linux distros in existence, study this.

Studying this image alone, is going to help you see through idiotic arguments like "mint is better" or "go with arch" or "go with pop_os" -- most of them have a parent OS.

> 2. Distro arguments are pointless. #1 choice that you must make is what family Linux do you want and pick.
If you studied image above, you will see there distinct few families of Linux, the relevant ones are: Debian, Fedora, Arch.

YaST is a nightmare. Why would you want a single place to configure everything? If that thing breaks you're fucked.
>>
>>108499235
point of the thread was never to tell you what is the best distribution, point of the thread was to guide you to find the best distro for yourself, you telling which distro is the best goes against the spirit of the thread, also bad choice.

so you are basically using a docker container with permanent volumes, but without docker convenience?

>>108501820
ill mention it in my next thread, thanks, due to popular demand, why would someone choose openSUSE over Fedora if they have similar concept, doesn't Fedora have better support? YaST is a good idea?

>>108501915
it's my understanding the further away you go from the parent distro, the more unstable the builds will become, this is why for me I want to stay at the parent level, or super close to it. If you got time for arch - sure. My buddy every month tells me about some new issue he is having with his arch server.

i absolutely dunno but https://www.sbcl.org/manual/#Saving-a-Core-Image tells that the stack's unbound in the saved image, you need to pass :executable t and you get no multiple threads anyway. doesn't seem save-lisp-and-die is the recommended way. i would consider a cl implementation which can be embedded into c code and thus be compiled into an executable without problems, like ecl

Depends on the video codec and quality level of the encodes. At the bottom of the totem pole is ancient H.264, YIFY can cram 1080p movies down to 2-3 Mbps with it but the quality is low. You might get okay quality at 5 Mbps while high quality hovers around 10 Mbps. So assuming 2 hour movies x100, the math goes like this for H.264:

MQ: (5mbps/8) x 60 x120 = ~4.5GB x100 = 450GB
HQ: (10mbps/8) x 60 x120 = ~9GB x100 = 900GB

AV1 would katana slice that in half so the idea that you need TBs for movies is kinda silly desu. Maybe if you're retarded and store the raw 25GB blu-ray 1080p movie mux

#define __NR_rt_sigsuspend        130

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/sigsuspend.2.html

tl;dr:
wait for a signal

i really thought this was going to temporarily block a signal, but nope lol. it blocks the thread while waiting for a signal. nevermind that we just had rt_sigtimedwait
it also temporarily updates the thread's sigset mask, which is something, i guess. still seems like a useless syscall imo
but, like all the others, since it's in there, *someone* must have (had?) a use for it
thankfully this is the last of the rt_* syscalls
