It's a zip file. You extract the contents then run an included script or compile the program. I just have an issue with the command itself. They could at least make an alias.

Fucked if I know i got mine back in 2006-2008
Either way ive been in the PC ame awhile and if I see a .tar file i roll my eyes knowing that some faggot thinks hes very clever for doing something in a more obtuse manner.
And of course anything such a faggot produces likely isnt of much worth so t can be easily ignored without any real loss.
Cant find the image but several years ago on 4chins there was a picture of a door chain lock made into an actual maze that stated "Only the dumbest people think pointless complexity is a sign of intelligence" that sums up those who use .tar for me.

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

Try Slackware it does not do stuff automatically behind your back, once you get familiar with it you should like it more since it requires you to actually decide when to update/upgrade and what packages to upgrade is all your decision, no big brother style handholding

i would cum

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

I am of distinctly average intelligence for this board I think. 135 IQ but i am a slow learner. I just recently was able to put myself to work properly so time will tell if i am able to properly integrate and apply the knowledge of maths and programming that I am currently tackling.

Any tips on communities to join that aren't from reddit?

Aiming for about 150 hours in January. Steph Mishook says learn the web stack first. I have to make a decision soon wrt the starting point. It's either CS50 or web stack. Learning towards CS50 Then tackle Kerrigan C Language or SICP.

I just need to get stuck in and see what I gravitate towards.
>>
>everyone says to learn to code in 2020
>market gets flooded due to overhiring
>everyone gets laid off after the covid growth spurt and blames it on ai
>now everyone is saying to stop learning to code
i wonder what will happen in a couple of years
always do the opposite of what normgroids are saying
>>
>>107659342
Learn to code kind of lost its original meaning, it used to mean learn to code so you can start your own company and be your own boss.
With the explosion of ycombinator style startup culture that somehow warped into make a shitty unprofitable business held up by hype and hope Google or something buys you before you run out of money and you get a golden parachute out.
This later devolved even more into just skip the middleman and learn to code so you can wagecuck for Google until you die.

The initial reason learn to code worked was that large companies iterated too slowly and were out of touch with what people wanted and couldn't provide a good product because they kept crumbling under the weight of their own bureaucracy. All of those things are even more true today than they were before. Even if you legitimately buy into the AI hype, that just means one dude on his laptop has even more of a fighting chance against the FAGMANs of this world.

>it used to mean learn to code so you can start your own company and be your own boss.
why can't americans programmers do the same thing again? there are so many problems that could be solved with low tech, yet no one seems to give a shit, and everyone seems to be desperate to become the next Uber or whatever

That is SUCH a Satania thing to do.
>>
>>107665698
Just saying that doesn't really mean anything. You can say that in any conversation and it would have the same effect.

Like just taking that at face value its pretty strange to make such an assertive generalization about someone. Like I'm making claims about you and the other people, but they are very specific claims in response to specific behaviors. and not just a overused generalization.

Just taking it at the value of trying to be an insult it really is ineffective because its obv just trying to be an insult with nothing backing it.

So either way I don't really see what this reply achieved and its interesting to think you thought it would achieved anything.

how many times has this happened now? bluesky gets a little bump because Elon did something dumb. within months they all come crawling back. most of them will leave after facing harassment from bluehairs over the "objectification" in their art or whatever lol, the rest will trickle out as they realize bluesky is a massive echochamber with no reach.

>>107664088
anyone who has sat down and actually used this technology for themselves knows its limitations and the idea of it permanently replacing artists is laughable. giant sloppy corporations are going to slop whether they do it with AI, mexicans or indians.

>>107665326
the entire anti-AI thing started because furry porn artsts who are predominantly left wing saw how this tech could cut into their bottom line and started to rally against it, by the time people could actually understand the tech bitchy bluehair leftists already bullied, harassed and intimidated people into accepting their framework as morally correct like they do with anything else so lots of normies who get their opinions from leftist accounts/streamers/whatever already had their opinion given to them and won't waver.

Law is not morality anon. They usually overlap but there are thousands of examples throughout history and the modern world where the “right thing to do” is illegal. Somebody decides the moral standard and I’d rather it be an objective thing outside of humanity than the whims of some pedovore satanists a few thousand miles away

I replaced my sons 9 year old 1T HDD with a smaller SSD on his massive old laptop and stuck HDD into CD drive spot as a backup w warning it could go at any time so don’t put OC on it. Runs much faster on fresh Win10 install and would have upgraded RAM if I had time and RAM wasn’t silly expensive rn.
My nephew has an NAS I sent last year. It’s still in box so will help him set it up while in PNW for Xmas.

either it's mac formatted or Windows is doing its usual bullshit where it randomly doesn't auto assign a drive letter
right-click on the 57gb partition in disk management, click "change drive letter and paths", click "add" and pick any letter you want
if that's not available then it's formatted for mac
