I legitimately can not discern the difference between 128kbps audio and anything higher bitrate. For years I've seen anons argue about 320kbps, FLAC, WAV, and so forth. But honest to God, the difference to my ears is near imperceptible. I listen to headphones for 8+ hours every day, and even I can't tell the difference. Sure my equipment is not top-tier, but I doubt that explains it.

For my favorite music, I can just about tell the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps. Like if I really try hard. But anything above that.. forget it. I really feel people are lying when they claim they are able to hear nuances beyond 320kbps. I believe higher than 320kbps is hardcore placebo-tier and people who hoard FLACs are raping their limited storage capacity for no reason.

What do you think? Is the audiophile culture plagued by lying cocksuckers, or do some people have golden ears?

At that point just use WAV because then you aren't wasting CPU cycles decompressing it.

I was actually going to do an actual job of that pair almost a year ago when the mv first dropped but got sidetracked halfway through and ended up kind of dropping it due to a few random issues(like the torso on the angel being wonky and not noticing until I got to that point).

Having been in a scene group I will say downloading from FTP is a bit of a pain in the ass. People who only ever downloaded from torrents bitch about the rars. But in addition to allowing things to efficiently spread they also allow you to multithread your downloads. Sites allow you to log in so many times so you can just set your client to skip already existing files and have different rars from the same release downloading at the same time with different sessions. Or you could just download a torrent file and be done with it.

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

what's your setup like?

I've been thinking about syscall overhead recently. Particularly sharing of data.

True zero-copy is hard to work with because changing page permissions requires a TLB shootdown across all cores for all affected pages, and even if we let userspace place all the data in a single page or sets of pages that's still humongous costs.

PKS sound nice on paper - additional protection layer on top of the TLB, changes can be done with a register write, thread-local, and userspace can't modify them - but you can only have 15 such protection domains per process. Not thread, but process.

If we learnt one thing from io_uring it's that being able to add submissions while the kernel is working on them is stupid. However, that means that each thread needs at least two such domains - one for submissions currently worked at, and one for submissions to be submitted - like a swapchain with front and back buffers. 15 domains per process are likely not enough, if we want no threads to be able to change each others domains.

So what's left are thread-local page tables with their own thread-local TLB that would change whenever a thread is re-scheduled.

Not great options. No wonder we still use copies.

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

People will complain about it being a meme but I like cachy. The main downside is that it's arch so it could in theory break at any time, but if you install with limine/btrfs it will autoconfigure snapshots for you on every change that you can boot into. Seems like best of both worlds to me, but I never had occasion to test since nothing broke yet.
Cachy is definitely better for nvidia at least because it ships with the proper kernels and shit by default instead of silently building critical modules in the background. Akmod is retarded.

Lol, no. Unless you have some goldilocks router model like a WRT54 that's not true at all. I have two Vodafone cable routers and two of those huawei home gateway boxes, all picked up from random yard sales, and nobody has a functional install for any of them. I'd guess the ratio is 1 in 20, at best.

>unnecessarily complex
Is there a simpler alternative? Maybe it's complex for you, low IQ nigger, but anyone can figure out how to use Nix after a few days.
>without proper documentation
Use case for proper documentation? Maybe that's something you need in your crappy enterprise Java job. Functional programming hardly requires extensive documentation; it's in the very nature of the paradigm. If you can't understand it, memes aside, it's a skill issue, meaning the problem is you, not the tool.
>you will only get the most autistic of troons on board
Ironically or not, the autistic troons already deliver higher quality software than the nazifags larpers who are bothered by the trannies. The most you chuds can manage is to make some meme like Apartheid Linux, basically a toy project of LSF, nothing more than that.
I also don't want a project full of colorful faggot flags, the problem is that you don't do anything relevant in return either, so the software field is completely free for trannies to play. If you think NixOS is bad, try making a better alternative. Simple as that.
