Anyone else notice lately that ChatGPT keeps spamming list-based responses full of bullet points? Even with 4o.

Binary packages are specific to dragonfly, dports is made by patching freebsd ports, and ravenports isn’t ready yet.

>Our North Star is ‘1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.’ To accomplish this previously unimaginable task, we’ve built a powerful code processing infrastructure. Our algorithmic infrastructure creates a scalable graph over source code at scale. Our AI processing infrastructure then enables us to apply AI agents, guided by algorithms, to make code modifications at scale. The core of this infrastructure is already operating at scale on problems such as code understanding.”

.unwrap is opt out, assert is opt in. It’s the opposite approach to what Rust usually takes (i.e. Rust should be safe by default, but .unwrap is both easy and unsafe).

Airdrop is somewhere between "doesn't work" and "pain to set up" on non macOS systems, and it's by far the easiest way to transfer stuff between a computer and an iPhone. Apple's proprietary integration stuff like texting and handing off calls between the phone and Mac are also not really replicated on other OSes. Microsoft's Android linker app, Samsung Dex, Motorola SmartConnect, and the Linux Bluetooth stack being able to act as a headset replicate parts of it and in more standard and less locked down ways, but it's still not as smooth and complete an experience as the integration between Apple devices.

Linux is not meant for humans, just install w10. In a few years you wont even have that driver as everything is constantly updated for no reason

If you can get it that cheap, it's a good deal until it blows your PSU.
The prices I'm seeing are $80-$120 shipped, and for a little more, you can get something much newer like an RX 6600.

amd cards were trash for a long time.
their idle power usage is still high? not sure.
then the drivers were trash, while nvidia still has the same setup for over a decade.
and now 3-5 year old amd cards are no longer getting support?

i'm not a fanboy to anything, but amd just seems the wrong choice unless you effortlessly want to play games on linux. though nvidia has been working fine for me on small games.

take the low tech pill

Why only desktop and not laptops?
Also can't you access radios from a desktop PC over the internet?
Dumb phones still have cameras too usually so you could just use that instead of having an extra device.
How can you games and media offline you need an internet connection to torrent them in the first place.

HAM radio is legitimately satisfying. Buying chinese radios and installing CFW so you can monitor everything that isn't encrypted at this point. The most interesting stuff imo is listening to air traffic on the AM bands and tracking flights.

If he's loading up on cpu and ram heavy processes and swapping then maybe not. With CPU he can nice the process if he wants it to get out of the way, it's ancient tech but it works. If he's spilling into swap then idk, that's always going to murder performance, but I'd be surprised if Linux didn't have ways to tune that if he really wants to. I think most people just bought more ram in the past, because "ram is cheap" was the saying until very recently.

/tpg/ is kill. Anyone try Libreboot/Coreboot on desktop? What board did you used? I'm thinking of using a Dell Precision T1650 MT. The motherboards that don't come in prebuilts seem a little too expensive considering they're more than a decade old.

Also, I've occasionally read that I should go with Coreboot instead of Libreboot since the latter is often behind on updates; that I should just compile my own roms instead of using Libreboot's LBMK. Anyone have any links documenting how to compile/configure Coreboot? The old wiki was fine, but it's depreciated and I don't remember the old link for it to look through it via the wayback machine.
