/dpt/ - Daily Programming ThreadWelcome to the Daily Programming Thread. What are you working on, /g/?Previous thread: >>107575071
>>107646279You know, fuck it. I'm going to do it in C, because Goblint-CIL is in OCaml -- which is far more popular than SML, and still, it's unknown. If I write it in C, it would be more portable. So, for all the difficulties, I'm just going to use the one true metaprogramming method of code generation.I'm already using an S-Expression data description language (INU, has schemas, too!) for generation of several faculties.Let's use codegen for EVERTHING.And by 'everything' I basically mean, for example, the data flow engine. You gotta see Goblint-CIL to see what I mean.
>>107646158Concerning what I wrote, I only had in mind the UBs that concerns arithmetic and bitwise operations. That's the UBs that should be gone imo. But I concede that the other UBs for things like NULL dereference make sense (for a C-like language) and you can't really avoid it except with a super strong type system like ATS's or with implicit NULLs checks, bound checks, etc..
>>107644666Very nice. What's your editor/ide setup? I was able to install esp-idf and get some examples running but I'm wondering if I should use arduino ide to start.
>>107646158>UB exists because C is anemic.holy autismo retarddereferencing a number is UB in C, ok?because a valid pointer is supposed to be emitted by malloc for ex.but when you write an os, youre implementing malloc and youre working with numbers as pointers.which is UB. but the whole OS is built on thatUB is deterministic, and it only means "hasnt been defined in the standard"dont talk about c, anon, you know shit from fuckyour autism makes it so that any amount of fuzziness confuses youand since youre a retard, you start hating what you dont understand instead of upgrading your knowledge.
>>107646158>>107646573also>hurr durr use ATSdid you only look up what that is?its an experimental/research languageits not something youre supposed to be using outside of academic pursuitsyou heard a fancy name and you repeat it around like a namedrop or somethingwithout even paying attention to the actual thing.thats autism, everyonea serious mental handicap.
Is .NET better than Java nowadays
>>107646620No.
I like how a stick of RAM costs 2000 bucks now.Thank you, anons. Thank you for this shit.I guess I will never build another computer. But that's they you guys planned it. First you make people dependent on tech, then you remove the tech.also fuck you with the new, more tedious captcha.Everything goes in the wrong direction. Scan your face and pay 2k to post on 4chan am I right?
>>107620821>Thank you, anons. Thank you for this shit. You are welcome.>I guess I will never build another computer.Unless you are going to die in the next 3 years. You are going to have to wait out the storm.>But that's they you guys planned it. First you make people dependent on tech, then you remove the tech.Nothing stops you form building a ram factory in I assume Binland.>also fuck you with the new, more tedious captcha.Man you must have a very low IQ. Explains why you are blaming >>>/g/ for this.
>>107641270And once again, proof Americans have the attention span of a goldfish. I saw this coming form a mile away, I build a PC pre trump or have till he is out of the white house. If it isn't a direct economic war it's his policies, running electronic prices to the roof.People called me crazy for this. I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!!
>>107622870I went early-adopter for the first time 2 years ago, got 64 Gb of DDR5. Blessed decision.
>>107624705Ai need to die
Be honest please, should I bite the bullet and spend some 400€ for 32gb of decent ddr5 ram now cause it'll only go up in the next 1-2 years or not?I hate it but I'd rather pay 400 for it now than 600 for the same thing soon.
>Almost 2026>Still not one Mini-LED with glossy finish on the marketDo monitor manufacturers hate money?>Get an OLEDSorry I don't want>Image retention>Burn in (that even with prevention is inevitable 2-3 years down the road)>Hiding taskbar>Pixel shifting>Fucked up text fringing>Adware pop ups every 4 hours that turns the monitor off for 5 minutes and if you decline ONCE you void warranty>Insane VRR flicker if you can't maintain 200+ FPS consistent>Twice the price
I had a QD-OLED monitor for a bit over a year (15 months or so)-No text fringing that can be noticed unless I take a camera and zoom in really hard-No burn in present-Never hid any taskbars on wangblows or linux-Browsing for several hours a day, in fact I'm playing less and less vidya-Pixel shifting on the lowest setting, so pretty much hard to tell-No flicker as long as I keep framerates somewhat consistent-Panel protect every 24h as opposed to 4
I'm looking for a new monitor and honestly it's hard not to just buy an OLED at this point. I was looking at miniLED but it just looks like shit.
>>107626196Burn in has been a solved issue for years.>>107640560>>107640560>>107640560
>>107626196>Fucked up text fringingnot anymore>LG Display unveils world’s first 240Hz RGB stripe OLED panelhttps://www.lgcorp.com/media/release/29720
Even if burn-in is real, why people so afraid of it? Burn-in means non-uniform colors. Just like with LCD not from the factory but after several years.
You know what means
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/california-other-states-sue-trump-180446923.htmlCali and a bunch of other states suing Trump, arguing it's unfair they cannot import shipping containers full of Indians anymore.
>>107641767Why in the fuck would they need them? Nobody, not even google, is hiring programmers and software engineers any longer. Lawyers, programmers, IT consultants, software architects,... - that's all completely gone. They must be planning to use them to accelerate datacenter construction, but jeets can't build anything of high quality, it's going to be a massive failure.
>>107645821google will get assfucked when all their stuff fails like microsoft. they're both zombies. I do like the AI mode in the google search bar, but that's cause noone else indexes the internet as fast so far. all their other products are absolute trash and you should never get trapped in their ecosystem. degoogle.
>>107641901Because they paid for it.

I already miss windows xp and windows 95 and frutigger GUI.
>>107646479Hey guys it's OP again, here's a photo of me. I never actually used 95 or XP. Also I love cock. Thanks
>>107646479Already? Just 25 years after the fact?wow.
Frutiger aero is too bright and overbearing.Modern design too flat and dull, and honestly is depressing if anything.late 90s early 2000s aesthetic though... THIS is perfect.Shiny and fun and detailed, but not too maximalist to the point you wanna lobotomize yourself.
>>107638232aren't these called metalheart renders or something? i wish there was a place where i could find a ton of them. i think i remember seeing a bunch in a 4chan thread years ago, on a different board
>>107639624Back then? shit. I immediately turned off xps new look. You couldn't customize any of the colors out of the box unless you turned off xps tits

>>107638467What is this retarded schizo babble? I was expecting an analysis of the aethetics of futiger aero but it endep being a rant against discord. It reads like an essay I would write when I was 15 years old. The author is a fucking retard.

Shitty artificial candy is not a uniquely US problem and there's a thousand shops where you can buy good candy just like every other country.
>>107626322Not everyone is a fatfuck amerimutt who's in tune with the lore of fucking snacks.
I keep telling myself faggot you are a grown man, earning big salary, be a man and not a kid anymore and buy a good respectable automatic watch but this thing that looks like a kids toy I have on my wrist is pure perfection of engineering and utility and usability
>>107646189>Once you touch a titanium watch you will never wear steel again.Once you see how easily titanium scratches, you'll never wear titanium again. I know it's not the titanium scratching, it's the oxide, but still, same shit. Looks like crap, and you can't have a nice mirror finish to match the dial.Lume is superior to LED. Modern lume easily lasts all night, I can see mine at 6am in the dark.
how do I un-wristlet myself?
>>107646256>Once you see how easily titanium scratches,It's true, but it feels so fucking good to wear I accept the scratches and wear it anyway. After all a steel watch scratches too, even if it's slower. I work with my hand and i keep banging my wrists on things, I scratch steel, i dent sapphire, I even managed to gouge the DLC coating. Don't care about the watch, it's just a bracelet, care about yourself and how you feel wearing it.
>>107646189how is your shit even remotely better than OPyour functionalities are bloat and unneededanalog+digital quarts is a pathetic and embarrasing thing to wearits cheapest looking combo and unclassy to boot
>>107646458>how is your shit even remotely better than OPI have the OP's watch and I heard the people tell me it looks like a happy meal toy. >your functionalities are bloat and unneededIt's good to have the timer for cooking and world time to check the anime releases and NYSE opening.>analog+digital quarts is a pathetic and embarrasing thing to wearI work in irregular shifts so I NEED the day and date, without that I literally lose track of time. As for the looks, at least it's actual metal and has a crazy shining sunburst dial.>its cheapest looking combo and unclassy to bootIt's classier than a full digital watch, yet has all of the functionality plus solar charging, looks like a decent sports watch, and wears like nothing else.
Share comfy software that can't be found anywhere else but on Windows, software whose minimal dependencies allow compatibility with versions of Windows as old as XP.I'll start with Miranda NG.>multi-protocol instant messaging client>IRC, Jabber, Telegram, Disc*rd etcetera>multi-document interface>extensible through plugins>free as in freedom>compatible with XP
What about XnView>>107644675
Virtual CD, virtual burner software. Written by surly Germans. Lets you burn anything to an ISO including music CDs.https://www.virtualcd-online.com/
>>107643482It's literally a feature of Windows installer, you can even make a CD with them, it's IN the ISO.

Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.Useful links>TWS IEM reviews: www.scarbir.com/>Guide: csg-guide.neocities.org/>Wiki: https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Chink_Shit_General>What headphones/earbuds should I buy?>>>/g/iemg>I want a cheap smartphone what should I buy?>>>/g/spg/>I want to buy some sort of emulation device>>>/vr/hhg/Comment too long. >>107640087nothing has really changed, the chinks figured out a way to bypass the fees by just shipping items in bulk instead of individual packages.prices have genuinely barely been impacted.>>107644029all computer fans are chinkshit already, it's a completely globalized product.your best bet is refurbished ones direct from brands on ebay or something.i have had good results from buying "damaged" water coolers and just taking the fans, they are usually completely unused and the radiators were just damaged in shipping. sometimes it's just completely cosmetic and you can get a full AIO water cooler for peanuts.
I want a "smart" thermostat, but seems like they all are rather dumb, having their "smarts" in the cloud. And fuck that shit.Does Chang offer a smart thermostat that works offline? I just wanna program some stuff like >heat up to 23° from 0600 to 0700>stay at 18° from 0700 to 1700>heat up to 24° from 1700 to 2200>cool down to 16° from 2200 to 0600and a>gimme full power nao!!!button.Wouldn't mind doing that shit with a d-pad on the thermostat or per app and bluetooth, if it's an open standard and I could use some FOSS app on my PC, should the phone app stop being supported.
>>107644029I buy fans directly from Arctic on eBay. Their open box shit was cheaper than Ali last time I checked.>>107644351It's nice to wake up to good news for once.
how are these Jginyue motherboards? Anyone here use them before? They have great value for the price, half of what the big 4 costs
Asking here for now since /mkg/ is dead (it's chinkshit related anyway)Do you guys know of any Redragon keyboard models that are 5-pin (or anything besides Outemu) compatible? This is the only "reputable" brand that I can find cheap-ish models locally, most other stuff end up costing considerably more because of customs
