Linux Mint's user base is all boomers who want an old version of Windows and would be better off actually using an old version of Windows but they bought into "muh security" or another vague belief about why Linux is better even though they have no interest in actually learning the Linux way of doing things and just want everything to work as it did in Windows XP. At least with Ubuntu you learn the Linux way of doing things and the OS is grounded in the Linux philosophy even though it holds your hands through a lot of things. Half of Mint's user base, on the other hands, would be terrified of doing as little as the most basic of stuff in the terminal. Mint has no purpose of existence rather than cater to people who would probably be better off using Windows XP because that's what they actually want.

Can I take my current raid 5 storage pool in truenas and change it to raid 0 while keeping the data intact?I need more space but really don't wanna have to start fresh and copy everything back.
>>107658213anon my disks all have stickers with their serial numbers on them.also, if it's the wrong disk you just put the right one back, it's not like the array magically breaks the moment you remove a necessary disk
>>107660928I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info.
>>107654550>a mathematical certainty that another disk will have an URE during rebuild and nuke your dataThis is one of the most stupid myths going around in the "storage" community. Do you really think you can't read all the data off a drive without it failing? Like is this what you actually believe, that you cannot read all the data stored on a perfectly functioning HDD? Have you ever tried to do exactly that? Have you ever tried to issue a SMART long self-test, which basically has the drive verify that it can read across its entire capacity?I've had arrays doing monthly full scans for nearing a decade and the stupid things never fail to read unless the drives are actually bad and dying (if you see this happen, it's time to replace the drive because some more serious failure mode is likely near).>>107654812So you just pull out a disk at random, while your computer is turned on and your array is mounted, no less?
>>107654440RAID5 for redundancy AND speed.
>>107660950That wouldn't work for me, the drives are in sleds. And there isn't enough room on the spine of the sled to put a sticker because of the lever arm. Also the air holes need to be clear.I once tried to wrap stickers around the lever arms, but they just fell off.

The scrollbar got fucked up. It's become harder to touch it to scroll. Posts displayed on screen don't match with what the scrollbar tells you, which is evident if you post, get a (You), or use filters that highlight posts. The release version has a brighter colored section at the center of the scrollbar that shows posts from the current screen which got removed. Currently the scrollbar seems to use where it is in the thread's location to show posts, e.g at the top of a thread it uses the top portion of the bar, at the middle of the thread it uses the center part, and at the bottom of the thread it uses the bottom part. This may not be obvious on shorter threads but on longer threads like on /vg/ it's easy to spot.
My Laptop‘s bios doesn’t let me disable VMD, so I can’t change to Linux, is there any way around this?
>>107660804I think the only way is to get hdd. Ssd automatically gets VMD.
>>107660899get sata to m2 adapter and install ngff ssd?
>>107660776would this help?"If your laptop's BIOS won't let you disable VMD, it often means you need to enter "Advanced Mode" (F7) or use a hidden key combo like Right Ctrl + Right Shift + Alt + F2, then find the setting under System Agent > VMD Setup, or your manufacturer (HP, Acer) might hide it, requiring you to load Intel RST drivers during Windows installation or update your BIOS for new options"

>Nvidia plans to start its cuts by targeting its RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 Ti. Targeting the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB makes sense, as this GPU has the same amount of memory as an RTX 5080, a much more expensive GPU. The same is true for the RTX 5070 Ti. It’s memory could also be used for more profitable RTX 5080 GPUs.
>>107658099Guess I better get a 5070ti while I still can. My EVGA 2080 super's fan control is fucked after updating my drivers (only one fan spins), can't even open Precision X1 anymore.I was really trying to save up for other shit. But I can't fucking play games with only 1 fan running, and I can't play any newer games without driver updates.
