KDE adds hard dependency on SystemD and drops FreeBSDKDE is now following GNOME.
>>107995554>How has systemd made my life worse? It may never make your life worse. But consider the possibility that someone comes up with something better than systemd. If it gets mass adoption, countless amounts of software will be stuck on systemd for no real good reason.Linux is meant to empower users. A basic way to do that is to make software that can easily adapt to other environments. Being stuck on systemd very much goes against that philosophy.
>>107995653>But consider the possibility that someone comes up with something better than systemdthis is a very good pointeven if someone managed to make a better init system it would be dead in the water unless it could seamlessly emulate systemd shit and be essentially a drop-in replacement
the thing we said would happen is happening

Do I need swap space if I have 32GB of RAM?
Yeah. There are programs that use it to store configurations and other small bits of data, if you disable it you have random application crashes and other obscure shit because nobody tests against obscure configurations since literally every single machine has a page+swapfile. never disable it.
>>107978735YES. Windows is an ancient beast of fuckery and convolution, and the only way I got it to stop being a fucking pissbaby with my 64GB of RAM was to give it 10GB-20GB of fake hypothetical virtual memory just to hypothetically play around with, because it spazzes the fuck out if it doesn't have any.
>>107993724I'm not well versed in this topic but I'm pretty sure its because Linux is often used in servers.
>>107996139yeah I had the same experience and wound up setting a static size of 16-32gb.

It's okay if you fail, but you have to try. For example, I want to jailbreak my Smart TV so I can block ads on JewTube with it, without having to connect to a PiHole. This is a pretty basic thing. A more advanced thing is if you take a more modern IPad or Android and attain root/jailbreak. Bonus point multiplier x1000 if you root an Android that has a locked bootloader. Maybe you want to siterip pornos and get past paywall on a website. Go fucking learn some Javascript, and fire up the console until you pwn the site.

>>107995863>gps jammerAre you 12? Same way you build any jammer. GPS uses some wavelenght radio waves right? Any wave can be flooded with noise. Just search for the perfectly legal specs of what wavelength it uses (it will probably have some FCC warning "so make sure your ham radio never sends noise in these wavelengths or you'll fuck up the GPSerinos), and build a transmitter that does send loud shit on that frequency so the receptors can't hear the actual signal.Fucking brainlets.

>>107995752>If i remember right rooting a sony phone fucks with the camera.Unlocking the bootloader and flashing another OS has nothing to do with rooting, first of all.Second, it's likely the stock camera app has balancing/ up-scaling (after effect) features that the AOSP camera doesn't.
>>107995779AOSP doesn't use the camera DRM keys. That's the problem. Due to not using the DRM keys, Sony's proprietary but necessary image processing algorithms like noise reduction can't be used and image quality suffers, particularly in low light environments.
