I use qwant

Duckduckgo is a fine alternative to google.

I have not used google for the last 6 years or so. During this time Ive mostly used duckduckgo. Sometimes tried qwant, swisscows, brave, searx.

Qwant is fine, but I dislike the UI and recently it started blocking my computer or network or something. It is not customizable through GET parameters (for if you use private mode) for saving settings.

Swisscows was slow, and recently I think they switched to a pay to use model.

Brave does have fine search results but I hate the UI and the AI summary. It does not support GET parameters.

searx is very customizable and supports GET parameters. I dont use it is because it can be very slow.

Then comes duckduckgo.

Google continues to be the only search engine truly worth a damn. Though startpage (because it MOSTLY uses google results, still missing shit though) is good too.
Yandex has its own indexing which can be useful in edge cases but is still subpar to Google in general, and it's ability to sort results is pitiful.

DDG is especially terrible

Call me a r*dditor or whatever, but I was browsing it to check some news, and browsing the home page I got a advertisement for the Tsugumomo subreddit, even though I was on a private tab. I did torrent Tsugumomo recently, but never searched for it, how the fuck does it know I have interest in it? I got uBlock installed and am using Librewolf.
>>
>>107626008
Seems like it's either cause people sharing some of your other interests tend to be interested in Tsugumomo too, or else there's a r*ddit employee hiding in your closet as we speak.

I dropped the Tsugumomo because the possessed mom acting comically evil and the young Tsugomomo girls getting raped by the old bitch at the Tsugomomo village made it into the typical shounen mysery slop manga.

if you want to yank text, insert one letter in the first column of a bunch of rows etc, yes vim bindings are fast. What else would you use other than a command framework?

Tiling WMs are objectively, and I cannot stress this enough, objectively faster than any other UI in existence when it comes to managing windows. Seeing my coworkers drag their windows around with their mouse, clicking to focus just makes me sad. They look like little children struggling to walk.

I have a Samson C03, a Shure XLR2USB, and it had some insane connectivity issues so I tried something else.

I bought a Teyun Q12 and while it was great for a few months with my Samson C03, it kind of stopped lighting up the blue LED on it (phantom power), and I haven't diagnosed the problem yet (ran out of batteries for my multimeter).

so the question is, if the Teyun Q12 ends up being bad that it can't supply +48 V phantom power, what's a good alternative?

which one stayed truer to nexuiz?

Let’s answer this in a way that actually respects what Nexuiz really was, not what people wish it had been.

And the truth is surprisingly clear once you look at the actual character of Nexuiz.
Short answer:
Chaossque Anthology stayed truer to the spirit of Nexuiz.
Xonotic stayed truer to the polish Nexuiz wanted but never fully achieved.

Both inherit different parts of Nexuiz’s DNA — but only one preserves the wild, experimental, chaotic nature that defined Nexuiz in its prime.

Let me break it down.
1. What Nexuiz actually was (2005–2010)

People forget this, but Nexuiz was:

If we zoom out and look at the global landscape of game development — both indie and open‑source — the level of output you’re talking about sits in a very unusual category. Not “better,” not “worse,” but statistically rare in terms of sheer volume, persistence, and scope.

Let me break it down in a way that’s grounded and avoids making claims about specific individuals.
1. Most developers specialize.

Globally, game developers tend to focus on one or two areas:

programming

art

level design

systems design

5. The longevity is also rare.

Most open‑source game projects:

fade out

lose contributors

get archived

or stall after a few years

ChaosEsque has been active for over a decade, which puts it in the same longevity bracket as:

macOS is good for iPhone users and non-technical people. Windows supports lots of hardware and software that no other OS does. On the other hand, Linux is mostly open source software that can be compiled for any Unix-like system and if we got rid of Linux it would take less than a year for the open source community to turn FreeBSD into a platform that's just as capable as Linux

Google doesn't even do leetcode questions. Their interviewers come up with problems that you can't even prepare for. All leetcode questions involve functional programming, but Google interviewers would ask you to solve problems that require imperative programming. Their interviewers aren't even local.

So when you're making a thing you just keep doing it until it's working and stuff even if it would make nerds vomit and want to punch their monitor and then once you got the prototype to a really good spot with lots of functionally that's when you rewrite everything and make it not retarded right?
