i tend to use 1 when i'm editing files or using a browser because i want to see my desktop and because i don't like it when a program's UI takes up space in my peripheral vision

>If you're interested in the specifics as to what Windows collects from your machine, you can actually download Diagnostic Data Viewer from Windows Store, which provides full insight into telemetry data, unencrypted.

>Anyone who has actually looked into diagnostic data & telemetry will tell you that it's absolutely nothing to be worried about. The ones who say Windows is spying on everything you do spread unwarranted FUD that has been proven incorrect again and again.

>it's absolutely nothing to be worried about
The problem there is that's not for you to decide, it's for me to decide. Forcing it into machines, on by default, not warning the user, obfuscating it as much as possible and making the user have to look up guides and fight their own computer at length just to turn this shit off because you know full well they'd never choose to have it, is all the reason needed to be firmly against it.

Microsoft is legally obligated to scan for CP for anything that uses its service, even something "fully offline" probably touches your microsoft account at some point. even "privacy conscious" Apple was going to do cp scanning until someone showed how easy it was to spoof

I like being able to customize the browser and re-arrange everything, and I like that it has a functional, classic user interface that isn't dumbed down like Chrome and other browsers trying to be like Chrome like Firefox lately. You can even get it to look like Netscape if you want.

Its lack of Rust code, being lightweight and easy on memory, and relatively simple codebase compared to Chrome makes it ideal for backporting to older systems. Arctic Fox is based on Pale Moon and runs on old versions of Mac OS X. roytam1's New Moon runs on Windows XP and Windows 2000 via KernelEx. I'm pretty sure it can also run on Windows 98/Me via KernelEx but this would require installing a series of KernelEx extensions, C++ Redistributable 2008, DLL's from Windows XP, and editing the config file to point to XP DLL's. I haven't got New Moon to run on Windows Me yet but that's something I want to try eventually.

Remember how people always said Windows dominates the PC market because practically every new PC comes with it preinstalled? In India many people buy last-generation used PCs, and online sellers often preinstall those with Ubuntu because they don't have to dick around with Windows editions and matching the license that the machine originally came with or risk being raided by Microsoft. Normies make up the majority of users, and they will just use whatever OS their computer comes with.

I could guarantee that all of those zoomers are pasting their code into online compilation websites; that is if they actually bother to build their shit - of course, they probably can't run the output on their cucked goypads anyway.

They always had some kind of mystique. The Unix workstation that didn't become a meme. The one that was just a workhorse for whoever got to work with them. But maybe that's the difference. I never worked with them. To you it was just a shitty tool. For me it's something I wish I could have known.
