microsoft doesn't have anyone that can fix this mess, all they have is their investment in openai, a jeet ai slop loving ceo, tens of thousands of jeet employees and boomer shareholders that see line going up despite the enshittification of the os

Not a zoomer, sorry. Started with Windows 98 SE. Used Windows XP for much longer than even 7. While it's true that we had a lot of bluescreens early, you are exagerrating. It was rock solid later, and I've used it on one of my computers until like 2015. There was no point using anything else than x86 version with only 4GB of RAM computer.

I'm 29, so fuck off.
I use Windows 10/Linux nowadays and do banking on mobile.
But security is truly a meme, and only uneducated retard that has no idea about networking fears the non-existing boogeyman. There is no boogeyman that portscans PCs over network. There is no port to scan, because you are not directly connected to the internet. Fucking retard. You must deliberately want to be hacked to be hacked nowadays. The only way to "get hacked" is to download malware that will send data outside from your computer and one must be a retard to fall for this. I've only seen boomers falling for these "attachments" in mails and running files with "hidden extensions". The only proper option in a browser for saving files is "ask where to save each time" and if someone allows automatic opening, that's user error - skill issue.

My first pc was a gigantic dell box running a 386 and windows 3.1 with a big ass crt on top of it my first games were wolfenstine math blaster reader rabbit and the og top down / sidescroller duke nukem it was a freakin puzzle shooting platformer, i was blown away by computers then one day microsoft flight sim and alone in the dark came out and it was like a mind fuckgasm.

I am regularly amazed that we pretend folders are the right way to organise files. They’re entirely arbitrary. Every competent file system ignores them to its best ability. Why can’t I have a file in two folders? Why does one have to be a “reference”? Why can’t I filter for files that exist in 3 folders with X extension?

We’ve been played for absolute fools.

What? Are you saying its feasible for a normal non-neet human to do a booru style tagging system on everything they might want?
AI can already tag images somewhat competently, we don't need "agi" for that. I'm also not talking about system files or anything of the sort, just things like images, videos and audio , which are the things that would benefit the most from having a more "human" way of interacting with (tags).
About energy, again, a 8b model already does a decent job tagging most images, I don't take it'll take more than 5 years to achieve a more-than-good-enough-for-99%-of-usecases small model.

>Are you saying its feasible for a normal non-neet human to do a booru style tagging system on everything they might want?
The precise opposite.

>we don't need "agi" for that.
No. But when it arrives, good luck convincing it to retain it.

>I'm also not talking about system files or anything of the sort, just things like images, videos and audio
Because you're a fucktard.
What the file is, or is in it, really shouldn't matter to a filing system. Data is data.

>About energy, again,
You *again* failed to consider the energy draw, per unit, just in maintaining the tag cloud to the filing system. Not even using this to retrieve tangible data for use, just existing.
You also failed to scale that energy draw up across all units in the field to start working out how many extra power stations would be needed to make this madness a reality.

Is Windows NT a good kernel trapped in a shitty OS?
>>
>>107694722
They were and are both shit.
>>
>>107694722
Windows doesn't even really differentiate between the kernel and OS, the kernels version number is even always the same as the OS build number.
>>
>>107694722
They where both good at least for the time.
The NT kernel is solid.
Win32 is solid as well, however it need modernization that isn't let's just hack WinRT into it and UWP.
We need a fresh take on Win32 call it Win64.

Are you using x11 or something? Fractional scaling works fine for me on KDE
>>
>>107690422
No it doesn't. It's an experimental flag that fucks up a lot of legacy apps.
>>
>>107690422
You have it backwards. GTK is known for not supporting real fractional scaling and not planning to. The GNOME project in particular is the source of all these "there are no fractional pixels" retards. What the toolkit does is render at a way bigger scale than you need, then do a fast bitmap downsample. This is more computationally expensive than real fractional scaling and it ruins font antialiasing.

we need a gpl v4/lgpl v4/agpl v4 with clauses on ai training
and a gpl v2.5 with the same but no tivoization clauses

any model trained on this code must only produce code licensed as GPL or a compatible copy left license

would solve corpo use of ai honestly

It’s a derivation of the work imo. My opinion’s correctness will be determined by upcoming lawsuits involving artists/music against these AI companies. The same ruling would also apply to derivatives of GPL licensed code. The only case where this wouldn’t apply is if the work wasn’t a derivative and it had never been trained on the work at all. Given the nature of token predictors, this situation would be unlikely, however.
>>
>>107692463
Obviously, but that's not a problem that can be solved by updating the license.
>>
>>107691230
You already can't incorporate ChatGPT code into GPL projects, because ChatGPT introduces restrictions on outputs, where you have to obey the law. What one should use a computer is a matter for democratic societies elected by universal suffrage, to legislate on what people aught to use computers for.
