I'll ask here since I never got an answer, is a E10K good enough for AKG K702/K712? And if so which of these headphones do I buy?
>>106325192>>106321728>>106325705>>106325192>Jcally JM12Hell no man, that thing is rated at only 27mW@32ohm (K702s are 64ohm, so you get 13.5mW instead of 27mW). On top of that manufacturers like that lie through their teeth about power output - expect 25%+ less power.>E10KNot really, the DAC part of it has it's issues and while the AMP is capable enough for most of the headphones, both "classic" Beyers and AKGs just need more than it can do. Mids will sound fine and loud but bass will be rolled off/silent and treble will be wonky/bad.Also it is out of production, if you are paying 80$ for it then DON'T BUY that shit. What is your budget for DAC/AMP? Do you consider second hand stuff? If you need to go super cheap then try to hunt for bugmens fx audio DAC X6 MKII, amazon used to have it for 65$ but I see it's out of stock now for brand new units, and only MUCH worse first gen is in stock. Avoid the first gen - it's quite bad and a waste of money.DAC part of it is somewhat noisy - but still less noisy than fiio E10K.And it has a fuckton of power available at the AMP side.https://www.amazon.com/FX-Audio-Bluetooth-Digital-Headphone-Pre-Amplifier/dp/B08HQFNX1Vhttps://www.audiophonics.fr/en/dac-with-volume/fx-audio-dac-x6-mkii-dac-headphone-amplifier-bluetooth-50-aptx-es9018-qcc3008-24bit-192khz-silver-p-14549.htmlChang bugmen still have it, albeit with a bump up in price https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006152848138.htmlAnother option would be to see if you can get for 100$ or less a second hand Fiio K5 Pro/Pro ESS. At that price it would be good, definitely better than fx audio. At 150$ or more it's not worth it.
>>106325724Well I already have the E10K I've had it for several years. But yeah maybe it's time to just upgrade it as well.
>>106325815Everything on DAC/AMP market is becoming ridiculously expensive tho.Back in the days I could easily find several AMPs/DAC+AMPs powerful enough for those headphones in 40$-60$ price range. Now it seems all the manufacturers phased out good cheap shit and force people into their upsells.Like, from "respectable" brands stuff with enough power from this peculiar headphone seems to sit at 200-250$, which is a lot.I run my pair off the xonar STX connected to external amp (cause it's internal amp is a beast power wise, but it sounds unbearably dry on the vocals and instruments due to AMP chip it uses, RCA line out doesn't suffer from it).I've even got a pocket portable amp that is powerful enough to drive them fully at high gain - Fiio A5, that was like 120$. Well guess what, not only you cannot get it anymore from Fiio, there is also no superseding replacement from it, neither from Fiio nor any other brand. This stuff simply doesn't exist anymore. I don't know why the fuck DAC/AMP market became to be like this.If you won't be able to get yourself something to replace E10K then don't bother with K702, on not powerful enough sources its treble becomes a complete ear grating/ear raping experience, and there will be no bass nor warmth to the sound.
>>106325970>from itfor it*
tell me about the yuin g1a & g2a, which one is better and how much better are they vs the ksc75? (which are 30€ here while the yuins are ~100 and ~50 respectively)already have an extra pair or two of yaxi pads and headbands in case the yuins need them and i don't mind overpaying even if they aren't twice/thrice as good for the price

cannot find yaxi comfort pads for k712's instock anywhere, will they randomly come into stock on their website at some point or are they discontinued? New replacement akg pads are £42 which I can find, but I've basically only seen yaxi pads shilled here and in other forums. My current pads are 5 years old and a little tired. bongistan citizen btw
>>106326141Open backs? Try out Senn HD560S (basically HD660S driver in HD5xx chassis) - they measure super flat (other open backs typically have bass sloping downwards from 100hz). They are 160ohm BUT like 104dB/mW so they should work fine on E10K.You might want to EQ them since FT1s are V shaped - boosted at bass, boosted at high treble.
>>106326129
>>106326269FT1 for comparison. If you want to EQ match them then on wangblows you can user something like EqualizerAPO with graphic EQ to work out 0-200hz range and 15khz area on HD560s to be closer to what you are used to on FT1s.
>>106326339>>106326269I've actually a pair of HD560S, they're my go to open backs actually. But you posting about them made me retry them and they sound great, which makes me wonder if I should replace the Fiio headphones or just see if I can get the amazon giftcard from the protection plan and put it toward something else.
>>106326385Having a pair of some closed backs is reserve can be handy I guess. It depends if you can get them replaced and how did the fail, ie. they failed internally in really short period of time I'd not trust that model personally. Hows their resell value compared to giftcards value? Replacement -> resale could be an option.
>>106326433The yoke on the right side of the headphone stopped working after less than 6 months. It won't hold any kind of adjustment at all. And I don't really want to get another pair of these if they can't last 6 months. You raise a good point about reselling them though.
>>106326433>>106326385Btw too bad you don't have anything capable of running K702s, it is very easy to get them to sound V shaped, and their V shape would be better than that of FT1s - say bass boost from 20hz to 100hz - without muddiness in 150-300hz range.Reversible bass flex port unlock mod doable on all K700 line models really makes them punch hard, and there's no need for any software EQ after it.>>106326458Someone wrote something in previous thread about DIY repair using a screw, have you seen it?
>>106326568I don't think I saw anything about a mod for the FT1.
>>106326589One anon typed this shit. Too bad no further elaboration was given.
>>106326611Yeah it's not the hinge that broke on mine. It's the part the actually slides up and down. I'm not even sure how it happened considering I usually adjust headphones once and then leave them be.
>>106326628Gotta be the chinesium manufacturing tolerances. Kinda shameful for Fiio since they make themselves to be a serious audio enthusiast brand.
>>106326642Yeah, I'm actually now wondering if my equipment should run Senny HD6XXs. They're on slight sale right now and if I can get the money from the protection plan maybe I could swing that. Or if I should put the money towards a better source and just use the HD560S
What would you guys recommend for someone looking to step up from the MDR-7506? Preferably open backs, don't require an amp, that will be used for PC and handheld gaming, as well as watching movies.
>>106326764If you can get past the HD600/650's infamous veil then sure. The bass on them isn't as good as on HD560S mind you but they have more warmth in mids. What I'm unsure is how much hit will their bass take on E10K - they are about the same as HD560S dB/mW wise - 103+, but have over a double input impedance - 350+ ohm.Still they work okay since dB/mW sensitivity is quite high, but there could be heavy bass roll off.
>>106326837>but there could be heavy bass roll off.Case in point - RTings had big drop down from 100hz on their rig.
>>106326837Yeah I could get those or I could get a new DAC/AMP. Thinking if I go with a new DAC/AMP, i might get a Fiio K11.
>>106326870At what price? I have seen bad opinions about noise floor of K11.If budget allows, look at Topping DX3 Pro+ (that plus in the name is important, non-plus is severely underpowered), ifi zen DAC 2/DAC 3 (first gen had almost no power on headphone out, they fixed it in 2 and 3), or ifi zen CAN (standalone amp, high power out).
>>106326960>Topping DX3 Pro+That'd probably do the job actually. I might go for that.
>>106327020DX3 Pro+ got actually really good fame to it's name alreadyhttps://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-dx3-pro-review-dac-headphone-amp.27148/There is one big annoyance tho - some of the controls are not present on the physical buttons, instead you will have to use the remote that it comes with... and one of those things is a low/high gain switch.Low gain should be called like IEM super low gain on this particular box. It's so low output power you wont be able to enjoy any full size headphones until you switch it to high gain. Also it's possible to mute output via pilot or something, as dumb as it sounds watch out of it. There's one kiketube goy who repairs industrial electronics, laptops and all kind of other pcbs, people were sending him random audio equipment as a challenge and he has received DX3 Pro+ with no headphone sound output. He spent 3 days desoldering and resoldering internal components, measuring them with oscilloscope, without fucking realizing (neither the goy who sent it to him) that it the output was muted via pilot... top fucking kek

>>106329336doesn't matter if it's the same or not, the hd560s is measurably the same, or arguably better
>>106329350Do the physical properties of the headphones not matter as well?
>>106329391very few. you have stuff like how you perceive with the build and comfort of the headphones that will have an effect on how you hear things, but if we're talking about the acoustics of a headphone, FR (and distortion in some cases) is the most important factor. the physical properties of a headphone will influence FR.

https://a.co/d/eL6PBSEAre these any good? Would Metal sound good on them?
>>106334113M1060 are not for everyone, check this https://forum.hifiguides.com/t/are-the-monoprice-1060s-not-a-worthy-upgrade-from-the-hifiman-he-4xx/2556No idea how metal would sound on them. In general for all-kind metal and rock you'd want something that has warmth in lower mids so that the guitars will sound nice. I know that most metalheads are happy with senns HD600 and their derivatives - they have rather a rolled off sub bass, but the mids have just enough warmth to make it nice. Try any of them out.
>>106334065So it would be a no-brainer to get the HD560s instead of the HD599SE if they're cheaper and better?
>>106334244I'll go with the HD6XX then. They were one of the candidates I was heavily considering anyway.
>>106334279Yeah. Usually HD560S cost more than HD599/SE(the SE is just color variant, no other changes)They sound different, HD599 is something between warm in lower mids and analytical in highs, HD560s leans towards "pure neutral".I personally find 599 to be muddy in upper bass/low mids, while their bass and sub bass is poor in its sound quality. There was some fag on kiketube that used 599 as daily drivers and compared them with 560S after a month of use but I can't find it anymore.
>>106325499Just turned on the Stax S3 for the first time and holy shit, coming from a life with 30 dollar plastic toys this is great. Feels like the music is originating from inside my head and yet I can distinguish individual instruments as well as their position and relative distanceThe bass also "hits pretty hard" which I thought wasn't as much of a thing for on-earsWish I had the lingo to express myself in a more sophisticated manner kek I also don't feel the cushions on my skin at all which I hope stays that way over the course of the day
Anyone here tried the ZMF Bokeh?
What's the current year's decent midrange (~200-250$) over-ear headset? I have a really bad luck with cables for everything and I break them very easily, so I'd like something with jack and bluetooth and low dependence on firmware. for music first and foremost (though I'm no audiophile), and occasional gayming capacity would be neat but not a priority. Good mic is not a priority either, I can always get separate one.I'm looking at Sony's WH-1000XM4B but opinions online vary wildly on it.
>>106335766Are you willing to give up Bluetooth? Wireless gaming is incredibly limited in acceptable options
>>106335855Yeah, I was tempted to try bluetooth because I constantly manage to bend cables in all the wrong ways and recabling is usually too expensive to make sense but it's not really a must.
>>106335855>>106335766If wireless is a must, get thesehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jHrwxGrwMMU
>>106332591>What exactly makes them good for this genre? I'm using HD560S right now and it sounds pretty alright to me.I had 5xx series before now 660S2. The overall quality of sound, speed of driver, sense of separation and tuning of these headphones making them fantastic for anything that has guitars/vocalists. They also have calm but extended treble so they won't pierce your eardrums in more intense metal slaps and also scales also very well with different sources (DACs, tubes)
How should I be plugging my headphones to my PC?The MB's audio port or should I use one of those USB-C dongles?
>>106335888For a wired, close back at that price range I would recommend the Fiio FT1. Then you can get the Meze boom mic if you need it for gaming, and you would still be within budget. Replacement cables are cheap, as it's standard dual 3.5mm, but the boom mic is quite expensive (but premium, better all around than any gaming headset).
>>106335914USB-C extender and the Apple Dongle. Better than any motherboard audio, and only $10
>>106335929I have this GraveAudio DA06 I got in an Ali bundle a couple of years ago that I never used.Is it any good?
>>106335939That works too
>>106335888>recabling is usually too expensiveYou can get a decent cable for like 20 bucks. Unless you have Sennheiser and need their proprietary connectors. Then it's ogre because those cables are usually more expensive. Never buy the headphone manufacturer's cables because you'll just overspend.>>106335929This. Unless you use low sensitivity headphones that need more power there's no need for more than that dongle.>>106335898>speed of driverIt's the same driver type. it's not "faster">scales also very well with different sources660S2 is much easier to drive than HD600. "Scales well" is a meme by the DAC jew. A $1000 amp won't turn your headphones into an HE-1. All HD6X0 HPs have a more pronounced midrange compared to HD560s, that's true. But HD600 is still the best out of all all headphones in that line. HD660S2 is overpriced. An Aeon costs about as much and is superior.>>106331054It's decent but mine used to freeze once in a while and I had to replug it to fix that. Maybe just a bad unit. I returned it. >>106335011Enjoy your planars, anon. I had a similar experience going from gayming headphones to a SHP9500 many years ago.

>>106336341>they should be fine, yeah?Yes. Both k371 and shp9500 should get to over 110dB SPL out of the apple dongle, which is far louder than anyone should be listening anyway. Keep in mind I'm talking about the US version of the apple dongle since the EU version outputs only half the power due to EU laws. But even then it should still most likely be sufficient.>Also crab best girlBased
Thanks everyone for input. I was swayed by >>106335917 Partly because I've read up and apparently sound quality is really good for that price bracket. but also because I'm a techlet and that walnut looks really fucking nice. >>106338551Hopefully yours doesn't break in less than 6 months randomly like mine did.
why are koss headphones + yaxi pads shilled as comfort king? aren’t on-ears inherently uncomfortable?
>>106340051They weight fuck all and clamp fuck all. Add some puffy foam pads and they're barely even there.

Metal anon here. One more question before I setlle on the HD6XX as my next headphone. Would the DT 990 be worth considering? And also is there any difference between the 80 and 150 Ohm versions?

why do so many wireless 'phones sound like poopoo straight from the anus
>>106341480>metalWhy are you letting 4chan and R*ddit deprive you of sub-bass and clarity? The 6XX series are grainy and have no soundstage. It's just a meme propagated by updoot bots and Dankpods on Youtube. Leave it in the 90s. If you actually go to a metal concert, you'd know it doesn't sound like a veiled mess with no lows or highs.
>>106342032What open back headphone would you recommend for this genre then?
>>106341580Tuned for the average normalfag so as much bass as possible. Wired headphones nowadays are mostly used by people who care about audio so tuning is better.>>106341480I don't fully agree with >>106342032 but it's true HD6XX have no subbass and you can't add a whole lot because of bass distortion. I don't know your budget but a planar would work better for metal. LCD-2C or Aeon RT/X are both solid options. If that's too expensive then Verum One or HE400SE. Chinkfiman has dogshit QC but that model in particular sounds pretty good and isn't too expensive.
My last two pairs of headphones literally got cancer and disintegrated on my desk so i want something that will last me a long time. Would something like MDR-7506 for 105€ be good?
>>106342090I was actually considering either the Sundara or HE-5XX on the planar side. I just don't know if my e10k can make them shine.
>>106342118I don't know about the HE-5XX since I've never tried it. I think it's based on their Deva so it's probably not great. Sundara is one of their best models since it's fully metal so won't fall apart as easily. E10K outputs 200 mW at 32 Ohms and Sundara needs over 300 to reach 94 dB SPL so it's true they might be underpowered running off of that.>>106342107More or less. But if long lasting is your number one priority something from Sennheiser might be a better idea. Unless you mean it's the earpads that disintegrated. Then maybe don't get Sennheiser.
>>106341480Been listening to a lot of boomer metal on HE-R9 lately, I can 100% recommend it for that
>>106342195Yeah no Sennheisers for me. One of the pairs that got cancer was HD599 and not the earpads but the headband
Huh, I thought my HE400SE were broke, but I just tested them and they still sound brand new. And they are good with Metal music, maybe even better than my HD560S headphones.

Does cable resistance matter on 'phones?
>>106346508No. I use some of the cheapest junk I could find for my 300 dollar headphones, it has no impact. The guys walking around with fat ass speaker wire are mentally ill.
>>106342580>>106342327It's hit-or-miss build quality wise with hifiman (and seemingly fiio too). The factory QC is poor and manufacturing tolerances are so over the place that you can receive either a pair that's gonna have it elements break within months of normal use, or a one that will be decent and last years. It's basically a lottery there.
>>106346508Unless said cables have immovable object tier of resistance, no and even then if you get enough volume from your amp/playback device with said cables it doesn't matter.
>>106346508As a rule of thumb, anything under 1/10th of the driver's impedance is gonna have zero effect.Once you start deliberately sticking fat resistors in there, you can get stuff like the HD600's midbass boost on high output impedance amps, depending on the headphones' impedance curve.

I just bought the Topping L30II because I heard there is no noise floor and I'm sick of that shit in all my other amps. I don't know too much about how it all works, but would is be possible to hook up a tube amp that I already own and use the L30II as a preamp or something (or other way round?), so I could potentially have the benefits of no noise + the tube amp distortion (if it's even real, I will test it). Is this how it works, or am I way off?
>>106348338>Its same type of driver but different design, it is faster than 660S and 600/650 while also having even lower distortionThe only difference between the 660S and S2 driver is a different voice coil, the driver isn't faster. And the THD of both is almost exactly the same. Sennheiser states as much on their website and measurements show it too. Picrel top is S2 and bottom is regular 660S. THD is only slightly lower on the S2. >Everything on this board is overpriced if its not a free giftIf someone can spend >$1500 on an OLED screen then they can and should at least get a competent headphone or speakers. $500 really isn't that excessive for something that will last 10 years or more.>Closed back planar with 404 not found dynamics and no punch with messed up tonality is the same price as 600 family seriesNigger where did I say to buy the closed back? Get the open back version. It has better treble compliance anyway. And the no dynamics meme is a thing because of retards running these off of a dongle or something when they need a desktop amplifier. These are among the hardest to drive planars. If you don't like the tonality just EQ. FR is fixable with software, THD isn't.>>WTF is this captcha jew tranny shitIt's gay as fuck, I know.>>106348385Sure, you can use it as a preamp. >>106348670>You'll get the tube amp distortion. If the tube amp is noisy then you won't get the benefit of no noise. If you want the increased bass you usually get from tube amps maybe use an impedance adapter instead.I guess what I mean is can I keep the volume of the tube amp at a point where it's not noisy and use the L30II to adjust the volume instead? Or if there's imperceptible noise with the tube amp, increasing the volume in any way will also amplify the noise which was previously imperceptible, to be perceptible?
>>106349073>can I keep the volume of the tube amp at a point where it's not noisy and use the L30II to adjust the volume insteadYes.if there's imperceptible noise with the tube amp, increasing the volume in any way will also amplify the noise which was previously imperceptible, to be perceptible?Possibly. But if you set the volume on the tube amp at the maximum amount you can without any noticeable noise then you can just use the Topping to adjust the volume. As long as the tube amp isn't noisy enough to create any hiss or anything like that at a volume you listen to usually there shouldn't be any issues. Depends on the impedance of the headphones you're plugging into it as well. As long as it's not something extremely low impedance you should be fine.
Thinking of buying a barely used smyth realiser (16 channel version) with DTS and dolby. Around $1800 USD. Thoughts anons? Also, is there a way to pirate the PRIRs from that 3dsoundshop website? Or just simply get them from another Smyth owner? It's crazy they are charging you that much for what is essentially just a software room EQ. Shit should be like $100 for all of it and even that seems overpriced. If I do end up getting some and if there is no DRM/traceability, I will of course share them on >>>/t/ or something. These audiophile boomers are insane.
>>106342051>>106342032I'm seconding this question. What headphone would you recommend for metal at arounda $300 usd budget?
>>106349873NTA but Verum One or MM-100. If you want an open back for metal it's better to get a planar magentic headphone since those usually don't have the bass roll off typical to open back dd headphones. There's also HE400SE you could EQ for good subbass but chinkfiman's QC is dogshit. Maybe FiiO FT1 Pro but that model in particular has design flaws and their headphones have a worse track record than their DACs when it comes to QC.
>>106350124My concern with a planar is I live in a very dusty area.
>>106350134Pretty much all planars have a filter protecting the driver so dust isn't a concern. It's electrostats that are more prone to dust damage but even those usually have dust filters as well. Koss electrostats notwithstanding. If you want dd then a closed back like HD620S would be fine. Just don't boost the bass too much or not at all, ideally.

Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered good back in the 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased for less than $900K by a Chinese company Edifier (whose primary market is cheap Chinese speakers and headphones) who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players. Hey guys, I'm looking for new headphones in the 200€ range to keep an eye on for when there are sales (the idea being to get them on sales for 150€ or cheaper depending on how big the sales is)It's mostly for watching videos, playing games, listening to music. I don't need wireless. I don't need a microphone either I don't have time to play comp games anymore. It would be a bonus if it comes from a brand where you can get buy official ear pads from them when they inevitably start peeling or wearing off.I just had 2 very bad experiences with sennheiser, the latest being with the game zero (which I'm looking to replace now).I don't have a DAC and would rather hear as many details as possible without being drowned by the bass. >>106378014The game zero are indeed built like shit and the earpads started completely peeling after a year. They still work but when trying to find official replacements (because off brand ones often change how stuff sounds) I couldn't find any because they just decided to discontinue the brand and sold it off. A friend of mine got the same model and his completely broke, the plastic is shit.Anyway thanks a lot for the recommendations I'll check rtings to read about them a little and add them to the list of sales tracking.Any other recommendations are welcome.
>>106325724>>106325970What a load of bullshit, I'm running dt 770 80 ohm and even Hifiman Ananda off E10K just fine>inb4 you're missing outI tried them on my friend's Fiio K5 DAC, same sound same shit

adx5000 slams and have a very transient sound who the fuck said they clip or distort in the treble and bass region? lolthey're good with everything and bakenigger is annoying
>>106379089isn't using avatars against the rules?
>>106379101maybe i forgot and i dont' care about avatarfagging i just really hate bakeshit and his smartassness lole
>>106379089>who the fuck said they clip or distort in the treble and bass region? lolMeasurements.>>106379101I don't attach kinogatari images to ALL of my posts so it doesn't count.>>106379123>just really hate bakeshitSo you have shit taste in media and audio equipment. Unfortunate.
>>106379746>Measurementsthe ebin measurements. sometimes you need your ears to demo them personally to summarize your final opinion, dipshit 00s borner kidalso they're boring if they don't distort that way. it gives 10 times texture to your music, the driver is definitely capable and generates a good sound. sounds better than anything beyerdynamic ever created, somehow even more capable than hd800s. as a dynamic headphone with actual functionable transparent soundsage, it delivers. something like arya only good for bass uses but QC is spooky and i will never own any hifiman shit product ever. focal clear have a huge fucking vocal issue, the ringing in the vocals sound like fucking realistic bells. wtf?also adx5000s did distort and clipped a lot but it's because their drivers are very exposed, their drivers extremely sensitive to dirt and hair; there is a reason why it does it so the driver could generate a big and amazing sound. it's fully ranged headphone with boosts for manufactured reason. it's sensitive because your ears are closer to the drivers and there isn't enough padding to the driver so it's very exposed to dirt and hair clipping. a foam cover fixes it and still leaves them dynamic (unique audio foams don't ask from where). tradesoffs tend to happen but that's just like any headphone expensive audiophool product out there. they have tradeoffs like quarks and strengths, and sometimes some of them excel at certain productivities. never heard them distort personally though that much, only hair causes issues. probably you want adx3000 if you want something boring and gay (true neutral). most of audio technica line out expensive headphones are shit, especially the closed back market are overpriced shit but adx5000 delivers. their open back line out is decent and sometimes delivers. if you're hairy get away from them.tl;dr: it's a adx5000 shill post, kiddo. adx5000 are stax but more fun

>>106380607>aliexpress driverslmao these aren't for sell and unique drivers made in japan, unique to audio technica. the ones you're talking about are the denon-likes microfiber diaphragm that were copied and shitted out
everything literally comes out with full bodied sound and precision without fatigue on adx5000, compared to true thin sounded shitholes, narrow sounding garbos and terribly tuned treble shitholes(not adx5000 i swear) headphones. stax you're next.
>>106380715is the stax in the room with us at the moment
Hear ye hear yeI'm in the market for new headphones. My HyperX Cloud 2's are literally being held together with parcel tape so I need a good replacement. I have made 2 really poor decisions lately with the Cloud S Alpha & the Cloud 3 both sounding like fucking dog shit so I need you to shill me your brand. Only requirement is it needs to sound good literally out the box like my Cloud 2's. Plug them in and enjoy without needing to fuck around with softwareOr maybe I just bite the bullet and gamble on a pair of so called "new" ones on ebay
what the fuck is hd505 and hd550?
>>106381656Did the headband sliders shatter? Known issue, if you've got access to a 3D printer and some M3 hardware there's this:https://www.printables.com/model/499953-stronger-beyerdynamic-headband-slider
>>106379964>>106380715I'm glad you enjoy them, anon. But I wouldn't ever buy something that distorts that much. Bass distortion is sometimes pleasant but that resonance in the treble is worrisome since it seems to affect the frequency response. There are completely distortionless headphones that cost 500-800 bucks. Something with this much distortion at that price point is unacceptable. I'm not a harmanfag so the frequency response being different is of no concern, some people might like that sort of tuning but the distortion peak in the treble shouldn't ever have been there. >>106381702>hd 505HD560s with less treble according to Sennheiser. Seems that's indeed the case.>hd550This one uses a different driver so it's more similar to HD620S in build. Also somewhat warm.>>106381656What's your budget? At a similar price point to Cloud 2s you can get an open back SHP9500 or a closed back ATH M20x.>>106380506No.
>>106380653>these aren't for sell they are if you take them out of the headphones
>>106382427can't hear your post over my comfy $100 yangyueshanghang store MDR-R10 clones
>>106382427>MOOOOM I NEED 500-800 DOLLAR HEADPHONES TO LISTEN TO MY VOCALOID SLOP WITH PERFECT FIDELITY
>>106385144yes
So I need to retire my current headphones, and need a good sub $200, open back and detachable cable option. So basically, I´m between the Phillips Fidelio X2HR and the Audio-Technica ATH-R50x. Thoughts?
>>106385144Correct.>he doesn't have a FLAC vocaloid song folderngmi
>>106385268Depends how much you like treble. R50x is brighter and X2HR has more bass. R50x distorts less but sounds worse stock. If you want to use them without EQ then X2HR would probably sound better and definitely be more comfortable.
>king crimson from tonepoet.fans on R2R dac, tubes and HE-R9feels good chartfags will never experience this
Please shill me the AR-H1I'm looking for cheap planars and I can get them second hand
>>106383368that headband is pretty good (you can buy it separately); significantly better than the LCD-2 headband clonesI still have to try the fake ZMF headband but the moderately annoying part is that I may have to replace the yokes since they only come in 110mm and my current favorite headphones require 100 (and no I won't use 5 nuts to fill the gap)
HD800S/HD600 with tubes are not a meme. Holy fuck, they mog everything I've ever heard. What other headphones are really good with tube amplifiers?
>>106387887what have you heard previously?
I want some comfy 3.5mm buds for retro gamingAlways remember Bose buds were comfiest (even if they didn't sound the best) But are these from eBay just gonna be Chinkshit?
>>106382427They dont distort as long as you dont listen to music extremely loud
>quad era-1 + sr-009 padsbros, even a year later and after a lot of back-and-forth between different pads, this combo sounds unreasonably detailed AND spacious AND unfatiguing AND tonally correct to methere's nothing left to do, you can't improve this. thank god I was able to solve headphones at last (speaking of god, I can hear him through my headphones)hopefully I don't go deaf in a few years due to having too much fun too often
>>106388208Isn't comfort really just based on the tips? For me that's pretty much always been the case, and I've been using the same shitty silicone tips I got with some KZ IEMs over 10 years ago. Nothing has ever completed the seal as good as them. Many IEMs I've bought came with up to 6 tips, and none of them worked well in my ear and sounded like complete shit compared to my one and onlys. Sad that it's so hard to get a decent fit.
>>106390212Yeah, my ears just don't fuck with round tipsI might just get these HyperX buds insteadAt least I can return them if they're dogshit
>>106388208Are you just plugging IEMs into a chinkheld? Get pretty much anything on Aliexpress.
>>106391013Nintendo DSi XL
>>106352945>>106352925is this why most japanese songs are so badly mixed?
>>106390230You can get tips separately, try foam tips, etc.
Considering the terrible state of headphones in 2025, does anyone know any consumer headphones from the 2000s or 2010s that are worth getting used? The Sennheiser Momentum (original) is on my list but it’s hard to find information about other brands. Not studio headphones, as I am not a studio technician.
>>106388208Final E1000 or E2000, whichever is cheaper, but the 2000 is bassier and has a softer cable. Max comfort and pleasant sound.
>>106391232>Sennheiser Momentum (original)the original over-ear version was my first pair of not terrible headphones everbeautifully made for the price, and quite lively. I eventually bought HD650 because of the similar FR but didn't find them to be a huge upgrade (and actually a downgrade in the bass department). the main thing to look out for with momentum 1 would be the size of the pads relative to your ears - they were exceptionally small, even the over-ear versionthat said, I don't think I would buy it again in 2025 - I'd just use kph40 on the go and planar open-backs when at home
I wish Sennheiser headphones sounded as good as the graph did.
>>106391454
>>106391540I'm glad your Sennheisers sound as good as your graph then.
I like neutral sound , should I get the hd550 or hd600 ? both are close to the same price in germany for me
>>106391724hd600 but 300€ is too much for them
>>106391735I see them sometimes around 230 euros refurbished , do you think it's still worth ? why the 600 not 550 ?
>>106391761that's the upper limit and already a bit much for headphones that excel at not being offensive and not really much else, but completely justifiable if you know that they're exactly what you wantwhy not the HD550 is because I haven't browsed /hpg/ in a while and haven't heard of it, but it's got 50 HD units less so...
>>106391803what do you recommend around that budget that doesn't have disgusting treble or too much bass?
>>106382427>distortion peak in the treble shouldn't ever have been thereit's there now and it sounds epic
>>106391895>that doesn't have disgusting treble or too much bassHD600 actually, but wait for other anons to chime in just in case, and take their advice instead of mine when they do
>>106391927yeah , I don't really follow headphones so maybe there's a better thing now that does the same thing or maybe the new 550 is better
>>106391895I got my used HD700 (eq'd) for about that much, not nearly as veiled as 600, 650, 550, 6XX, etc.
>>106389456Or use EQ. Or watch movies since those often have 10 dB increases for explosios and whatnot. But fair enough, at 80 dB the distortion is probably not that high.>>106391175Most studios in Japan use Sony headphones for mixing. MDR CD900ST are basically their go to for voice monitoring. >>106388208Comfort is based on the tips and the width of the part that goes in your ear. If you want max comfort get some small IEMs like Chu 2 or Truthear Gate and use foam tips. At least that way you get detachable cables.>>106391900Sure.>>106391895Aune AR5000. Maybe FT1 Pro but the Aune is better since it doesn't have retarded design flaws FT1 Pro has.>>106391989Those are good when EQ'd but without EQ it's a fucking torture device with that treble spike.
does anyone have the edifier w800bt set? I can't find any review for those. or should I just go for an older model?
