Applying epoxy to RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read-Only Memory) is generally not recommended for several reasons:

1. **Heat Dissipation**: Both RAM and ROM generate heat during operation, and covering them with epoxy can impede their ability to dissipate heat. This could lead to overheating and potential damage to the components.

2. **Electrical Insulation**: Epoxy acts as an insulator, which means it could interfere with the electrical connections necessary for RAM and ROM to function properly.

3. **Irreversibility**: Once epoxy is applied and cured, it is very difficult to remove without damaging the underlying components. This makes any repair or upgrade impossible without replacing the entire component.

4. **Practicality**: There are no practical benefits to encasing RAM or ROM in epoxy for typical use cases. While epoxy can be used to ruggedize electronics for specific industrial applications, this is not common for consumer-grade RAM and ROM[1][4].

Therefore, it is not safe or advisable to put epoxy on RAM or ROM unless there is a specific need for ruggedization and the potential risks are mitigated through careful engineering.

Applying epoxy to RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read-Only Memory) can be considered safe under certain conditions and is sometimes even beneficial for specific scenarios:

Physical Protection: Epoxy creates a solid, protective layer around RAM and ROM chips, shielding them from dust, moisture, and physical impacts. This can significantly increase durability, especially in rugged environments such as industrial machinery or military applications.

Vibration Resistance: In systems exposed to constant movement or vibration, epoxy helps keep the components firmly in place. This reduces the risk of microfractures or dislodged solder joints, which can lead to data corruption or hardware failure.

Environmental Sealing: By fully encapsulating the memory modules, epoxy can protect against corrosion caused by humidity or chemical exposure. This is particularly valuable in marine, aerospace, or outdoor electronic applications where conditions can be harsh.

Longevity: Properly applied epoxy can prolong the operational lifespan of RAM and ROM by creating a barrier against contaminants and minimizing wear over time. This approach is commonly used in sealed electronics for mission-critical systems[2][3].

While epoxy application requires precision to avoid shorting connectors or interfering with thermal management, modern high-performance epoxy resins are designed to be thermally conductive and electrically safe, mitigating these concerns. When using such specialized products, the process becomes both practical and advantageous for certain high-reliability environments[1][4].

I envy them so much. I have to wake up early, lick corpo boots and they smugly tell me that if I'm so smart, why aren't I rich like them who went for business and law instead of engineering. >The answer is how you play your cards
Depending on your business's scale, you can hold the server admin passwords and can create a complex system that leans on you as it's fulcrum. Every day your "preventing cyber attacks" and "boosting digital workplace productivity" simply by existing.
>Think you might get fired?
Well, the systems acting up... Who knows what might happen if you weren't there to help?
>Asked to train a younger employee?
Oops looks like they messed up again. Guess they just didn't listen to your complex routing instructions. They weren't cut out for it.

You have a lot more power then you might think. Suck up to them, sure. But make your own super hero moments. At the end of the day, when the network goes down and the printers jam they need you, not the other way around.
>>
>>106403473
But how can you stand them smugly telling you they're superior because they are human resources?
>>
>>106403498
The answer is that they want the illusion of power. They need validation, because it makes them feel like they are on top. Give it to them, use it to take more real social power. Ask them about how they preform their job and keep pumping up their ego.
>Wow! I would have never thought of that, you really are a good judge of character. I guess that's why you hired me! Haha.
Once you have their friendship, start coding. HR's got a boss as well and if they don't have a serious relationship they can play you can easily out automate them. The boss will gladly toss them (and you) out if they can get a younger and cheaper model in. So make their job easy, so easy a child could do it and in when the next round of "budget cuts" come in you might have a good opening.

>That's super tough. Paper work can really be such a pain. I want to let you in on a little secret. I'm designing a program to do paperwork automatically. Would you like to help me test it out?
Remember you are the foundation. No computers? No company. So make backdoors, set up a house of cards that leans on you. When the guy above you looks at his team and asks.
>What can I really afford to lose?
He will always look the other way.
>>
>>106404011
Let's say you get fired.
Start contracting, depending on your city you can charge an upwards of $125 an hour for doing the same thing you are now. Once your company starts struggling to stay above water with the system you designed they will come back. That's just peachy, because now you've "grown up".

I've seen entire offices rip out all of their computers and replace them entirely because they couldn't pay their IT at $280/hr. If you milk it right, you can really build a good long term relationship.
>B-but ethics! My feelings
McAfee is installed into nearly every windows 11 system by default and turns off your computers default firewall when uninstalled. Doctors and Lawyers leave X-Box programs and thousands of Facebook memes downloaded on their work computers because they don't know what you do. Knowledge is power.

I ignore the cert faggots, those are dicksuckers for the government or glowies. A real hacker, old school is the guy who has an inordinate knowledge of a system (usually computer system or network) and can create or modify it beyond the designs, usually breaking compliance or correct usage laws.
Captain Crunch was one, using his skill with telephone networks to make them his bitches. Mitnick too although he was more of a "human hacker" given his proclivity to use social engineering rather than raw code.
Richard Stallman and Linus are hackers too given their coding skill and the things they have created.

>Is he still alive?!?
From what I can see, he is still alive and kicking. And I think he fits your definition, in that SWEET-16 took remarkable insight. Too often I hear compiler writers grunt out that compilers are always superior to assembly programmers. And I ask them how many compilers would gain enough insight to design, form and insert a virtual processor to optimize the program. mostly, they don't even understand the question.
He was also one of the early Blue Box users and allegedly production of those financed Apple in the early days.

Same problems in other countries, here is a couple of horror stories from Norway:
https://www.forsvarsforeningen.no/nyheter/kritisk-sambandssystem-i-marinen-utviklet-av-russiske-programmerere/
So a joint Naval VHF radio system that slso links to shore stations and aircrafts was developed with Russians residing in St. Petersburg. What could possibly go wrong?
And it is not as if the Navy really understands anything:
https://www.kode24.no/artikkel/nrk-leverandor-til-forsvaret-hadde-utviklere-i-russland/237194
Here, the head of the Norwegian Cyber Defence states that there were no risks since the system was not connected to the Internet. Supposedly any others on that frequency would not breach the system. It is as if he has never heard of backdoors.

And it doesn't end there, for the rinde never ends:
https://www.forsvarsforeningen.no/nyheter/generatorer-til-ukraina-skulle-sendes-med-skip-med-russisk-kaptein/
Here, generators were secretly shipped to Ukraine. The problem was that in seberal cases the captains and crew of the ships were Russians.

Long story short, there is a total collapse in thinking.

I2P is the better solution here. Torrenting hurts the Tor network but I2P was designed for torrenting and P2P connections.

so It works the same with magnet and torrent files?
All I download is anime/manga and other related stuff, wanted extra privacy for doujins as I want to hoard some artists stuff
>>
>>106416813
I2P is a different network, if you find some random clear net torrent you won't be able to download it via I2P. In cases in which a torrent is simply not available in I2P you could use a VPN instead.
>>
>>106416913
I2P allows to have backports so you could go through I2P, connect to a torrent and tunnel the download through it

I'm a brainlet when it comes to networks. Shouldn't it be impossible to connect to the clearnet via I2P?

They are Desktop Environments, they have their own set of services and own browsers but nothing inherently safer from one or the other.
Both had some exploits done in the past but otherwise, use whichever you prefer, that is not going to be your main source of issues,
>>
>>106430573
Sure. Gnome has a disastrous approach to bugs that may be security related:
https://www.jwz.org/doc/cadt.html
You could mine the old closed but unfixed bugs for security holes, perhaps sell those to your favourite three letter agency, unless they have done the same thing already, of course.
KDE is slightly better but there are groups within KDE that are simply bat crazy. I am thinking in particular about Kmail and Akonadi. Those too are ripe for security audits.
>>
>>106430537
>>106430573
On Fedora I assume GNOME and KDE Plasma are equivalent in security terms, because I think Fedora updates both of them with security patches equally. So pick the one you prefer.

On Ubuntu it would be different I think, because GNOME is in their "main" repo, while Plasma is in their "universe" repo. I think this means you might not get all security updates for Plasma unless you enable Ubuntu Pro (free on 5 computers for personal use). So if you were to use Ubuntu with Plasma then I would recommend enabling Pro.

>>
>>106441033
Who cares about other people
>governments enforcing ID verification to view certain websites
I think what might be a good idea is a law requiring ISPs to verify a person's age, if they want to view adult content. ISPs already have adult content filters to appeal to parents.

So if you start a broadband plan or a mobile data plan, you have to prove to your ISP that you're 18 if you want to view adult material. This means you only have to verify your age once (rather than with tons of websites). And it also means you don't have to give your info to a shady porn company.

Since Android is going to shit real soon, how are emulators for Android?
Can they hide the fact they are an emulator to a decent extent, to the point that actually useful things like banking apps cannot see it?
I'm fully expecting it to be a no, but I can dream.
I'm considering de-googling but without banking apps that's a very big no-no.
I know I can keep a shit-device around purely for banking, but that's a pain.

I'd go to the point of writing a fuzzy noise generator to feed virtual sensors if need be, already did before when making bots for various things to avoid detection.

Ever watched Serial Experiments Lain? This is who I aspire to be!
>>
>>106444580
Actually, I have not surprisingly.
My friend was obsessed with it and I never got around to watching it, then I went on a massive hiatus from anime in 2013 and never got back in to it yet. (hell, not just anime, damn near all media, gaming was the only one that survived)

I had some glasses I wanted to make that had passive "360 degree vision" and an XR display built in to it.
The passive coming from lenses designed specifically to redirect light from the back, sides and in between all around to the front of the head in to a compressed view above my vision.
While fiber optics could be used, it couldn't be as pretty as a solid sheet of glass, or as consistent.
The augmented part would actually come with a helmet that has an antenna grid on it for EM triangulation and navigation (AKA passive radar)

It would be bulky and ugly as shit, but it would be pretty neat if designed the right way.
Costly as fuck though and I have nowhere near the money or time to do shit like that.
Maybe I should go join mil research.
>>
>>106444742
>It would be bulky and ugly as shit, but it would be pretty neat if designed the right way.
Hell, I think ugly and bulky has its charm too. It has that "prototype" feeling that is missing in those "sleek modern" curvy designs that I find boring as shit nowadays.
You sound like you work for the gov or are a glowie. But good luck in your endeavors
>>
>>106444783
kek I do don't I?
Unironically I wanted to build the idea for them but ill health fucked me over and I focused on things more for me.
The passive radar helmet used a cube with antennas at each corner, but the top square was rotated 45 degrees around, so it made a bunch of triangles for a massive increase in perceptive ability by sampling in different grids compared to the perfect cube which is honestly fine, but there's less useful configurations and there's some issues with interference and weak spots that produce noisier signal overall.
You'd think I was some pro at signals processing, but that is far from the truth, I just know enough to know how waves work and how to reliably design geometry to take advantage of that.
Funny, I just asked some AI models to see what they thought about it, cube vs cube with top rotated 45, all said the 45 version for similar reasons I just said and more so. Neat, I'm not completely retarded

I haven't even done step 1, which is the residential proxy. Where do I even start or what should I prioritize first? I'd like to have some things like a Facebook account to connect with friends/family but I already got suspended from that shithole once because I have a dynamic IP and they want my face (not giving it to them) so what's the next step to not being an online hermit but having something resembling privacy?

I've noticed that 4chan-X's filename anonymization feature usually propels the filename into the literal future timestamp wise.

This is really exploitable and retarded, in the sense of fingerprinting. You can just look at each file which has future-date unix timestamps relative to the time it was posted and work your inference from there.

Just sat down and redpilled myself on this. Any thoughts?

Oh trust me, I'm going nowhere near Android for my own tablet. Years back I considered it, but the increasingly locked down APIs, fuck that noise.
You actually nailed what I am intent on doing though - dual panel design, detachable.
The high-spec panel will be one of the Frameworks (originally was a beefy SBC), the low-spec one will be a weaker Pi-like or maybe Arduino, depends if I can get it running an e-ink touchscreen, networking and storage easily.
The detachable 3rd panel notPhone will definitely be a Pi-like SBC, a weaker board wouldn't cut it there in any capacity. This will actually be the most complex of the 3, I've not even remotely planned any of it in-depth.

I've made my own interfaces for shit before so have plenty of experience in making nice functional UIs.
Although admittedly much of that was Windows focused, I've been slowly porting some of my shit over to Python to make it as universal as possible, with checks for OS just in case I ever did change shit down the line, or wanted to make some interfaces between different stuff I own.
Friend has a 3D printer so I can (ab)use him for stuffs.

End goal being a neat package no thicker than my old tablet + cases width x2.
So roughly 1.5 inch upper boundary. Anything thinner is a bonus, but only to a point, fuck thin-shit, give me thick ass bodies with FEATURES.
The notPhone will be a big decider on width.
If I go above that I have failed and I will promptly headbutt a train.
>>
>>106451580
Do you have a drawing. I am having some problems imagining what you are trying to do.
>>
>>106451602
I don't have it on me right now, can post it later at some point.
Just imagine a dual-screen tablet, one half color screen, one half e-ink.
The e-ink side has a slot at the back where the 3rd notphone slots in and can essentially act like one of those mini screens you saw on the backs of some phones where they could show you notifications when the whole thing is closed over.
I designed it to replace a bunch of things, namely netbook, tablet and e-reader, but also add even more so on top.
The notPhone was a later addition to add a few ideas I wanted, mainly being able to be out in remote areas and still have a connection to the internet if I wanted, as well as an actual DIY phone that I had control over. Hence why it lacks a lot of specific details fleshed out.

The e-ink side can act as a separate board or a slave board to the color panel, becoming an input device for it. Equally a mixed mode where top half is separate, bottom half input device for color panel.
Input mode being stylus-capable touchscreen, specifically one that is good for detecting pressure AND angle, but that's a low priority.
But I am an artist so at worst I can get a separate small graphics tablet purely for this.
All of them can be detached and all hardware features will have dip switches to physically turn them on and off. (radios, cameras, sensors, etc.)

tl;dr dream portable computer project that is a pipedream and a half but I really want to do sooner rather than later but moneymoneymoney

Do most sites even maintain RSS these days?
I know quite a few sites dropped them because it meant people weren't viewing ads, and some trying to inject ads in to the feeds.

On a related note, this is why I have been trying to write a script that can analyse a webpage and create stylable CSS that doesn't give a shit about library-bloat HTML spam but instead rely on some smart heuristics of what content is being searched for and trying to find a logical parent that contains all of those elements.
Say for example, trying to find tweets in Twitter from one version of the page to a new version, if site changed structure, run scan on page, get new selectors, sorted.
Saves having to do that shit manually.
Most distinct sections of a webpage typically follow the same general layout and information, so it shouldn't be too hard to do.
In fact I could go even further, that layout part, I could take that literally as in coordinates in the actual webpage itself, like how a 4chan name and post number is physically above the blockquote that contains the post.
Being able to scrape webpages easily with this would be rather nice.
And yes, I know there are some features of extensions to do this for some pages, I will be checking in to those too.

Not those that only care about shoving retard ads down your throat. RSS is still alive and well in some specialized newspapers and federated social media.
