Why do they still teach the OSI model in university networking classes? The session and presentation layers are never used.
>>106416236>Why do they learn you how to count and do basic arithmetics when calculators exist and will be used.
>>106416271TCP is literally layer 4 and layer 5 at the same time, only retards use udp. layer 6 is done at the application level these days
>>106416289>TCP is literally layer 4 and layer 5 at the same time, only retards use udp. layer 6 is done at the application level these daysThere is also the historical reason to it.And you are probably right to point that's why they also teach you about the tcp/ip model.
>>106416289>only retards use udpIt's dead useful in some applications, but you need to be real careful. You know that shit that people say about packets getting lost, duplicated, or reordered? It's totally true. Seen all of them in deployed systems.
Idk but if you take a look on Glassdoor companies often still ask about the OSI model for sysadmin and higher level tech support job interviews
