Stalin's new favourite distro it seems
>>
Valid crashout, "gaming" distros are a meme.
>>
Those are problems you can have with any distro. I personally have an issue with bazzite and aurora because they intentionally remove older images, which means if you're two images behind in updates, you can just get stuck and no longer be able to update.
>>
sounds like user error, I have a minipc and steamdeck running it, no compatibility issues, less crashes than my main rig running fedora kde and both crash less and run better than the w*ndows dogshit I use at work.

but also what the fuck is with this niggers voice accent? It sounds like a cartoon character with a huge voice crack.

Not sure if this is a valid crashout though or user error
>>
>>106423489
You only have to chose from:
>Red Hat/Fedora
>Debian/Ubuntu
>Arch Linux
>openSUSE
Everything else is based off one of these distros and is made by retards for retards.
>>
>>106423598
anything is possible
I know several people over 100 IQ who have tried or use Bazzite and have not reported these issues. Then again I use KDE not gnome and he claimed two of his crashes were gnome related. The only crashes I've had were two softlocks related to general Linux/proton issues. I've used it on and off for over a year now.
>>
>>106423489
>gnome
don't they use kde?
>>
>>106423683
they apperently have entirely different disk images for each DE that sometimes use a entirely different branch of bazzite because there that retarded. I cant imagine debugging that shit.

What do "gaming distros" like Bazzite have over general distros like Mint, Ubuntu or Fedora?
>>
>>106424336
Preconfigured. Simple as that.
Bazzite offers the atomic/immutable system on top.
Yes you can get the same results by doing it yourself, but why bother when perfect Distors like Cachy exist
>>
>>106423489
>AMDGPU crashes
ya, you get use to it. either you learn to build your kernel from source, put in some debug statements, learn to read printk stack traces and try and fix it yourself or you stay like a bitchy cuck on some old ass kernel that sucks.
>>
>>106424024
has nothing to do with DE and everything to do with AMDGPU being dogshit code.
the Asahi Linux tranny was 100% right to call out the whole DRM/KMS stack as niggerlicious and needing to be rewritten (in Rust)

My sequential digits say otherwise.

I was giving it a shot on my main rig and while I've had few if any problems, I've quickly realized immutable distros are absolutely not for me. You feel so fucking locked down compared to a regular linux distro, kinda kills the purpose IMO.
>>
>>106423673
Replace ubuntu with mint
>>
>>106424336
Main guy here who made that video.

Im on another pc and I saw this on /g/ because a friend told me. never expected it to end up here

>>106424336
I use bazzite because I have a miniled monitor.
However if I want true blacks I have to enable HDR, not in game although I can and it will still produce true blacks like in cyberpunk(Although for alot of games I feel like HDR looks like someone put a white sheet over the image) but via steams hdr setting.

I mainly used it because I did not want to use a command like on pop os previously and then plug in my bluetooth devices via wired because they then all get disconnected and then reconnect them every time I wanted to game in order to take advantage of my monitor. But now I regret it.

>>106424444
And yet the so called "outdated" and "bad" pop os not only had all my controllers work perfectly out of the box but also never crashed on my amd gpu.
>>
>>106423489
Just use Fedora. Bazzite is just Fedora Kinoite/silverblue with some shit and a ugly logo on it.
>>
>>106424336
Bazzite just installs fedora atomic with some scripts.
>>
>>106424951
I used it because it had hdr support that I didnt need to use a command for and also reconnect all my bluetooth devices with, I can just open game mode and hdr will work. Its really important because my miniled monitor only displays true blacks and color when in hdr mode, and on normal desktop mode it produces a very obvious slight flicker when doing stuff on one color backgrounds like a code editor. I still love it and use it everywhere because hdr it makes my monitor display the games in a extremely beatiful quailty that is a shit ton better than my lcd panel.
>>
Don't even watch the video for this. "I had to run an entire f-disk or whatever they call it" Man if you can't remember a super basic and common Linux command, maybe Linux isn't for you.
>>
>>106425231
fsck but it was not fsck it was some other command specifc to the filesystem called btrfsck and I think there was another its been awhile.

but also how the fuck do you pronounce fsck, it was a quick reaction but when talking irl you don't pause to think about how to pronounce something you just use the next best thing.

Retard
>>
>>106425263
>The command fsck can be pronounced in several ways, but the most definitive pronunciations are "fisk" or "f-sick"

Ok well if I acutally said that than no one would have known what I meant because well no one uses that acroynm and i doubt weve ever been in a situation where we had to say a disk repair command outloud instead of just typing it

>>
>>106425785
look I did not want to use bazzite but read this ok. I was to broke to afford a OLED and really wanted HDR
>>106424913
^^^^^^^^^

but besides the bugs I acutally like gnome design wise, dont know just use to it, I like its alt tab system with alt ` and i like its file manager. I think the icons in kde are extremely fucking ugly. Im not saying Gnome is perfect or that its amazing. But to be honest I consider the idea of calling a DE amazing or calling a operating system "Perfect" kinda autistic. Even a bad DE or bad distro you can still get work done at the same rate just fine as long as its not something where everything crashes every 7 minutes and software still supports it. Theres very little time saved in finding perfection, if anything you lose more time searching for perfection, Thats why I abandoned i3 and dwm, all that perfection barely saved me any time and if anything I lost more time configuring the damn thing than ill ever gain back.
If you look at most professional software devs that are not celeberties you will see there using the standard built in desktop and very little acutual customization. At least the employed ones are. Not so much the unemployed
>>
>>106423489
>lost MONTHS of work across various programs
>due to a DE crash
I call complete and utter bullshit, or this mongoloid doesn't realize he should occasionally press Ctrl+S just in case.
>>
>>106425881
Look sometimes you expect your computer to work and not randomly crash. So sometimes you don't save it because you expect your operating system of doing the bare minimum of working enough to keep your document open. But obviously my expectations were to high
>>
>>106425881
And what DE would crash so bad that switching TTYS would not even work?
>>
>>106425900
>Look sometimes you expect your computer to work and not randomly crash.
So you work for days/weeks/months on end without ever saving your work at all? Sounds like a you problem, retard. What if a power surge happens? What if your motherboard burns out? You just drive down the highway without wearing your seatbelt because "Well, I just expect my car to not get into accidents"? Fuck you, it makes me so angry to know that I have to share a world with mouth breathers like you.

>>106425919
Even IF you could somehow imagine that the system can glitch badly enough that the only fix is to fully reinstall it, that wouldn't overwrite the /home partition or whichever other volume might be used to save media files/documents produced by Blender/FLStudio or other programs. The only way this shit happens is if an absolute drooling retard is using that computer, which seems to be the case.
>>
>>106425974
No not weeks typically like 5-6 hours but COMBINED to all the projects of stuff I lost yeah it comes down to months.

No I did not lose any data not yet at least. I was able to revive my computer from emergency mode by using btrfs.
>>
>>106425996
by losing data I mean like file corruption.
>>
>seething retard uses bleeding edge distro with known buggy drivers.
>watches goyslop
>Apes the restart button when he's not using a CoW filesystem and complains of corrupted file
>didn't even try to ssh or use a serial console to debug
I don't know what to tell you OP. only advice I can give you is ready my meme arrows.
Stop using ext4 or xfs and use btrfs.
Get a laptop or something so you can ssh and debug. 99% of the time you can recover the system by restarting the display manager or you can SAFELY REBOOT from ssh or serial console. Also consider using an "old stable" distro, but don't be surprised if it still gets fucked up because the GPU drivers for AMD are unstable as fuck no matter what. I literally have a crash every other month and I'm on an RX 6950 XT
>>
I am using btrfs tho. this distro uses it?

ive never had gpu crashes on pop os or really any gpu issues on pop. At most ive had audio issues with my monitors speakers but thats it.
>>
>>106426385
>>
bumping cuz I hate this tranny distro as well
>>
>>106423489
Take your fucking meds and stick to good distros like debian or gentoo.
You installed a distro that is made with beta quality software and with extra untested gayming components, you shouldn't expect it to be stable

Bazzite is for portable gaming PCs and DIY Steam machines, not general computing. If you're trying to use Bazzite for general computing, you're an idiot.
>>
>>106427358
I know but I didnt expect it to crash every 10 minutes
>>
>>106427811
They offer a Desktop version, and a Handheld version. I still think it's shit but just sayin'.
>>
>>106429391
so if bazzite is shit by that logic every linux distro is shit because its using the same packages as others LMAO
>>
>>106423489
Arch doesn't have this problem
>>
>including my blender project I was working on, music I was making in flstudio
My understanding of Bazzite is that it's SteamOS with somewhat broader GPU compatibility. It's something you might install on an HTPC used for gaming and movies.
I hear it's pretty good for that. It seems like a wholly inappropriate choice for working on projects.
>>
>>106424913
What does bazzite do for HDR that you can't get on any fairly up-to-date distro? HDR has been in KDE for a while now
>>
>>106423673
Install Gentoo.

gnome moment
>>
I have bazzite on 3 different systems and it's generally extremely good. Never had any issues with controller support. I'm using the old Xbox 360 wireless adapter, newer chinese controllers and even Bluetooth ones on occasion although it's pretty laggy. I assume if a controller supports xinput it should be fine. One system is a new 8060s system, another is a hacked together framework mobo with a 5070xt egpu and the last is an Rog ally. It's not 100% perfect but issues are few and far between. Probably the worst issue I've had is wifi support on the ally being too unstable for streaming although I was able to troubleshoot it and get it to behave better by disabling the power saving features for the Wi-Fi. Honestly it sounds like that guy is experiencing hardware failure.
>>
>>106423659

I know it’s petty but I don’t listen to people who can’t write proper English. And Linux is trash regardless, I use Windows 11.

Bazzite works perfectly on my machine. Sorry that you're too incompetent to use a distro literally made to be retarded-proof, anon.
>>

any good diagnostics software. My pc does not have diagnostics built into it(yeah im not fucking joking)

Alright ill try memtest86+ and post the results

anyways in the meantime why don't we take a poll. Do you guys think its gnome being a piece of shit, or my hardware being fucked.
>>
>>106436073
>Do you guys think its gnome being a piece of shit
Higher chance then not
>>
>>106436679
most likely. But I mean gnome never did this shit on pop os for me
>>
>>106423489
it's a meme. immutable meme just slightly increases security at the cost of not many annoyances.
>>
>>106437210
Why is having fewer annoyances a cost? Do you intentionally use bad operating systems?
>>
>>106438150
I meant the opposite.
>>
>>106438150
handcuffing yourself just creates more issues in the longrun.
