So this is the power of modern electronics...

how do i prevent this if i want a 5090?
>>1064250991. Be lucky2. Don't be unlucky
>>106425099buy a 4080 instead
>PeNYsLel
>>106424881And old electronics.
>>106425099Just don't buy a 5090. Get a 4090 if you need the performance. The 5090 is just a shit product pushed to extremes to get a bit more performance out of an architecture with no real improvements on a process with no real improvements over the predecessor. That's why the GPU is fat as fuck and uses 600W. Presumably by the time the 6090 is out, it will be a far superior product on an improved process and as such it will not be forced into the extreme compromises the 5090 is forced into.
>>106424881I mean, they wanted power. They just didn't get it in the form they wanted.
>redditorFake and gay.
>>106425099Contact NVIDIA support to obtain exact instructions for the magic dance, required for their hardware to work properly.
>>106425311>He thinks we're getting a 6090
>>106425311>he didn't look at the 4k benchmarksYeah tell me how I know
>>106425363Yeah it's definitely coming in a year or 2. Rubin is on-schedule for mass production in the 2nd half of 2026 last I read.
>>106425377I looked at them, what point do you think you're making? Under 25% perf boost gen-on-gen is extremely bad in general, when you consider that this is 25% that comes at the expense of 125W extra it's just complete and utter garbage. There has been no architectural improvement and no perf / W improvement between Ada and Blackwell, NVIDIA could not figure out how to make it faster beyond just adding moar GPU and moar power to it. RTX 5000 is just a very bad GPU generation, like I said the 5090 especially is pushed to absolute extremes in order to squeeze out some sort of perf lead over the 4090 and even then they can't even manage 25%. Horrible, horrible product.
>>1064253116090 will cost $6,090.
Capacitor fail. Solder in a new one. I think I revived my old monitor 10 times by replacing the feeble fuckers
>>106425504>24% difference between 4080 super and 4090god fucking dammit
>one person's card has a capacitor explode>5090s HAVE A CAPACITOR EXPLODING PROBLEMCapacitors are also really easy to replace and don't cause that much damage to the card.
>>106425099Buy a 5070 and stops paying more than the MSRP of GTX 1080 Ti ($700) for one.
>>106425311>Just don't buy a 5090.Don't buy the 5090 reference board.Get the Astral:https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-rtx-5090-astral/5.htmlIt can detect if each pin is working properly.
Capacitors suck
>>106425099 Of course, this could all be a one off event - any piece of hardware can a have a bad cap. I wouldn't be too worried until there's a pattern of behavior or a known design flaw. That said, the brands and models have some variation between them, sometimes significant, in build quality and other features. Unless prices get shitcanned again thanks to the new Sept 1st tariffs, last I checked a month or so ago it generally goes like >5090 FE - $2000Ultra rare and hard to find especially at the price. The FE is the base model but its also the only one that even kinda sorta sells at the original price anymore and its a good choice overall, on the same level as many of the mid grade AIBs or better, IF you can find one for the price >5090 AIB, $2800-3600 Almost everything else was stupidly expensive. There are multiple tiers of cards even within a single manufacturer, and some manufacturers have a better reputation than others. To put it succinctly, if you're going to buy any AIB and have the option, then >5090 Asus Astral (or the brand new Matrix)is probably your best bet. Astral has its own pin detection as >>106427655 mentions and thus power monitoring.. I'm actually wondering if there's any Linux based or FOSS utilities that can tap into the same monitoring that is done on Asus GPU Tweak III, that detects every pin's amperage and if anything is amiss. It won't fix every potential issue but if you're worried about a 5090 it seems to have the best features, build quality etc
>>106424881For something so expensive, they should be using solid state capacitors instead of electrolytics. They're cheaping out on capacitors.
>>106424881>card worth thousdands of dollars>you're still left with picking between AIB with the basic slop they put on their cheapest cards or pay $1000 for the premum versions that are actually only $100 of improvements in superior parts and heatsink designsThis just shouldnt be allowed once you have GPUs over $2000 that are known to be exceeding tolerance limits. Waterblock enjoyers can get fucked and pay a little extra if they wanna replace things.
>>106425311Aren't they horribly overpriced now new and horribly ran through by now if used?
>>106426848
>>106424881has the jews gone too far this time?
>>106424881who cares, 99% of "tech savvy" system builders dont even know what a capacitor does nor have any knowledge how to design and build a simple RC circuit. IT has become the playground for idiots.
>>106424881>buyeded the cheapest PSU starter pack
>>106429083that cat humping him lol
>>106425311lole 5090s are the only cards that can actually run a high res VR headset
