BSD isn't even one OS. FreeBSD has been basically the most corporate friendly and taken in the direction big donors want it to. NetBSD has been supported by basically one company (NetApp) + volunteers. OpenBSD core team members all appear to have money from OpenBSD-based products, or other means, it's the most dogfooded BSD by the dev team. Look at a Linux con, it's all Macbooks lol.
