Will the S22 become the meta once androids locks down?
>Cheap as fuck
>Made to live forever
>Can do the basic phone needs (texting, maps and frogposting)
>Did I mention its cheap?
>Also has a removable battery
Inb4: "B-but I need to take pictures of everything I see, because I burned my neuros with porn and can't remember anything older than a week"
Buy a camera it will be better and cheaper than a phone with a good camera.
Inb4:"B-but muh phone games"
You are brown

I can't find a single picture of it with a broken display...

dude minimalistic does not equal good. When you want a phone that can only do 3 things you're shooting yourself in the foot to be a hipster
>>
>>106427354
it's a phone, I use it for phone calls

bought it two and a half years ago because I liked the design and honestly I needed to stop doomscrolling twitter at night, I sleep way better now

>PinePhone
>they don't know
It's over, sweeties. Pine was discontinued. Another L for us autists.

>A quick update concerning PinePhone Pro availability

>As some may have heard, the PinePhone Pro has indeed been discontinued. This is due to low sales and therefore no longer being viable for the PineStore to produce. Spare parts may continue to be produced for up to two years depending on how well sales go. If you still want one, at the end of this month refurbished PinePhone Pros will go on sale just like after the PineBook Pro was discontinued. So this will be your last chance to nab one.

>On the other hand, the PinePhone (A64) will continue to be sold for around two years. It is currently still selling well.

>As for the future of ARM products from the PineStore. It is not likely as the PineStore has moved focus onto RISC-V. This change can be seen looking at the recent product launches (Oz64, Star(/Pro)64 and Alpha One). There is also interest from the PineStore in being able to run LLMs locally on their SBCs with the Alpha One, powered by the StarPro64. (If you see this, I have edited this bit for clarity)

>And just a quick reminder that as the community we do not have knowledge about any future products. At this current point in time there is no currently known plans for a new PinePhone.

>And I think that's it, have a great rest of the week!

What apps are you even going to use once you are forced to use only the playstore?
Almost every app I have comes from f-droid and such stores. So if I am going yo be forced to use only the same 3 slop apps, I might as well go minimal with my phone

>Fairphone
>does not have a replaceable battery
Isn't that the big selling point? An easily accessible and replaceable battery?
Most of the complaints about the Fairphone 6 seem to be about the lack of a headphone jack, and no wireless charging.

It is pretty disappointing that Google has turned their Pixel developer phones into iPhone clones.

I've been using this for years now. The buttons double-triple-quadruple press randomly as it ages. There's a software fix developed by some indian guy, but it makes the buttons feel extremely slow and unresponsive (difficult to explain). It's a shame too - I enjoy everything else about it.

Still runs Android (Android Go, not sure if it'll face the same restrictions) and it apparently doesn't work in Australia outside of the Vodafone network. Seems awesome otherwise.
>>
>>106427551
mine does this out of the box
you can use an app with a multi press timer that keeps this from happening but mine also has the issue of the image on the phone being wrong despite being OEM, so i dont have the ability to control the hardware features of the numpad such as the dial tone sounds and vibration
so regardless of any audio setting, it vibrates and makes a dial tone sound every single time you press a key

but dont get me wrong, i still like it
it actually has a tolerable camera, pic related
its not gonna win any awards, but it manages to work fine to deposit checks with my banks mobile app
and that in a flip phone form factor is worth the keypad shenanigans imo

i bought that phone and it died after 2 weeks

I bought one a couple years ago for $45, i just looked on ebay and they are listed for over $100 for this piece of shit. The OS fucking sucks and does not utilize the buttons nearly as much as it should. The screen also is not a standard aspect ratio so apps all look fucked.

That's about when I bought mine, right after the company that makes them shut down there was a fire sale on them since they were aimed at enterprise use and need support for those kind of customers. Not something I use every day, the thing is a brick as far as size and weight go.
>>
>>106427237
having a good quality is a bit more than a superfluous luxury at this point. being able to attach pictures to messages is really useful in certain jobs and something htat people expect you to be able to do nowadays
>>
Maybe I just don't need a phone anymore
>>
>>106427237
I've got one and it's sort of a pain in the ass
>half-assed keyboard support (everything works exactly how you expect it not to)
>won't charge with USB C PD chargers, needs a USB A to USB C cable
>can't support my FLIR camera (app only supports proper Android but that one's the app's fault, unless there's some underlying Android Go reason, so kind of a null point)
I just use it for emulating J2ME games

Elderly people die or go into nursing homes and you can find their barely used dumb phones on facebook marketplace if you want a cheap button phone. I got one with 128gb micro sd support to use as an mp3 player since the usb-c to aux adapters kept breaking in my pocket.
They're shutting 3G off so I'll have to upgrade. I want a 4G flip phone with a headphone jack and 128gb micro sd support but I'm not sure they're selling any in my country yet. I've never owned a flip phone and they look cool so I'm going to keep an eye out for one.
I encourage everybody to buy a dumb phone. They're cheap enough that they're a good back up. Great for camping too. They act as redundancy and you can listen to music without feeling like you're draining your only connection to civilization. The 1000mah battery of mine can play music for 20+ hours, it's basically impossible to drain a power bank with it. I shut my main phone off and just use the button one unless I need to navigate or whatever.

anon... I don't know how to tell you this, but the company that manufactured CAT and other rugged phones went bankrupt early 2024.
