>>106427673It's pretty hard to calculate really.I reinstalled linux around 3 times now, 2 because i got a faster storage (HD-> SATA SSD -> NVME SSD), and one because i was fucking retarded and symlinked the arch package repository folder to try to save space.On each time it took me around an hour to config it as i want, probably 2 hours on the first go because i had to google how to do everything, so in terms of raw lost of time i would say 4 hours.However, as i was in a HDD for most of this time, and i was (and am) using XFCE that makes the OS load significantly faster than windows 10 (say 30 seconds versus 2 minutes, there's time savings here.Given i'm using linux for 3 years, give or take and 2 of those were with HDD (720 days), that's roughly 18 hours less in terms of boots.Add 2 hours for the mandatory updates on Windows where you can't use your computer (assuming 10 updates), and well i lost around -20 hours of my life with linux.

I think the Linux Desktop is going to fail regardless. It would be better if someone makes a FLOSS desktop from scratch that normies can use.I think the issue with Linux is that its hard for normies to use and its pain for software developers to release client based software on Linux. If someone makes a FLOSS desktop OS that eliminates those issues then it would replace Windows or if Linux fixes those issues than Linux would replace Windows.But knowing Linux fags I doubt that they would listen and fix those issues.
