It is real, but the actual problem is, that "psychosis" is supposed to be seen as something negative.

So we have a technology which is capable to induce psychosis. Who are psychotics? They are people who reject "common sense", they reject the established "truth" of society. This is the only reason, why society hates "psychotics".
