I really like Loeliger's Threaded Interpretive Languages as a supplement for understanding compilers and languages.I'd recommend you figure out a project you want to work on and start working on it. Accept that you will make mistakes because you're learning and just get to it.

Not to follow the guide, get to some abstract skill level, or get recognition by us know-it-all anons on imageboards. No guide will teach you the realities of a job, many of which have nothing to do with your coding skill, and frankly more to do with either communication skills (in the comfier workplaces) or obedience and politics (in the less comfy workplaces). Coding skill starts to matter only if you're working on the bigger problems, which you won't for many years to come.
