no actually its -o "%(title).200B [%(id)s].%(ext)s" and its up to you what to trim and what not to trim. long filenames are a filesystem and operating system limitation not yt-dlp. besides, you can just write the infojfson files that include the filename and tags, etc.

for yt-dlp you just put the options in the config file

for gallery-dl its a little more tricky but also uses the config file. you gotta write a few lines to enable the metadata postprocessor

it defaults to extractors that have problems with mpv like speed throttling, unable to seek, short link invalidation time, and also break often requiring frequent updates
in my own youtube client i dont use yt-dlp and specifically default to extractors that work well with mpv
