You can tell who actually use their computers based on uptime alone, not to mention the hardware used.
Every single one of these threads usually ends up with more than half the posters being fucking posers that show off some VM or some shitty old laptop they never fucking use.

I'm lying this is just my router/proxy/firewall...

It started as a fork of Kiss Linux replacing the init with systemd, but after a while I just setup my own repo still using the kiss package manager. Most packages are based on lfs/arch. I've been working on it for a few years already but just sporadically when I feel the itch for Linux. I used to have troubles bootstrapping the distro again after not touching it for a while (new glibc/GCC toolchain) but this time I just used jhalfs( automated lfs build script) to get a clean base to build my rootsfs.

>>106435498
Not him, but if you don't want to leave your computer running 24/7, why not just suspend it when you're not using it?
>>
I have used this system, and when I went to update it, the DE was deleted
>>
>>106436580
Suspend still uses power, which is worse in terms of cost and component wear.

Suspending is also worse for battery life in regards to laptops. Are you going to leave it unplugged and have low/no battery by the time you open it back up? (Which fucks your long term battery life) Or are you going to leave it plugged in to overcharge? (Which also fucks your long term battery life). Or you could turn it off and get the best of both worlds.

Suspend also maintains state, so any memory leaks or bugs due to extended use can affect you, whereas shutting down makes that less likely. Preserving state eternally alao means you are manually responsible for closing unnecessary processes. Shutting down frees your from process bloat by starting fresh every time.

And unless you're running Windows, starting up is going to take only slightly longer than recovering from a suspend. It's not like you have to wait 15 minutes for a mandatory update if you shut down.

never heard of that of that file. I only know about /etc/os-release because of terminus (wanted to know how it identified the OS).

I am unsure which is the oldest standard, or if it is simply a Debian based file, but I find it strange that they have always been different when I inspect them.

>>
>>106439498
so terminus is the name of an iOS terminal emulator and a font? interesting. Apparently the one you brought up is the older standard. os-release is the newer one. I've always just used uname -a

The iOS terminal emulator is named after the font, I am sure of it. ;3
I do remember lsb-release being a thing 20 years ago, but I was ignorant of os-release until just recently. I always used uname as well, but meme'd
uname -rms

>>106439582

How come?
>>
>>106439636
it's using the usb output. neither hdmi nor displayport can do 4k120 on this GPU. Sure, I have a 4090 on my other computer that can do that over hdmi, but I have this old 2080 TI that still works. But it requires this stupid adapter cable.
