So far i've been using AI as a language tutor for couple of weeks and holy shit. The productivity is insane, No real life tutor bullshit, Explains everything when you ask specific questions. It's just amazing. i know it's still not AGI and just processes data but productivity it gives you in education is insane. I've legit learnt more things in 2 weeks than whole semester in college.
It's great for being a summariser and explainer of information that's well understood and known. Anything out in the weeds and it will start making shit up and not telling you that it did. They are unable to produce tokens saying that they don't know.
>>106434946I used it to cram/review for college as well. I don't know if the tech is amazing or the college education is shit, but fuck it we take those.
>>106434972I think it's somewhere between. College education is just dogshit in every way but tech isn't that good yet.
>>106434946Yeah, except once you put it to practice you're going to realize that piece of shit never told you when you were wrong, you didn't learn fuckall and you're going to get laughed at.But you're going to go in there confidence and gusto, and experience the worst moment of your life.Well deserved.
>>106434971The problem here is that it will act like it knows well things that it actually doesn't, thus misleading and making the one who questions loose tons of time understanding badly explain theory or straight false information, in those cases it completely sucks
>>106434971>>106435049>>106435630Unless you're like a linguist studying the latest cutting edge slang popping up in the underground cultures of whatever language you're learning, this isn't an issue. Or you're learning some dead language that 100 people in the world know.By the time you exhaust the LLM knowledge and move on to stuff that it doesn't know and will hallucinate on, you will have been fluent enough to be engaging with actual works and speaking with actual speakers of the language loooong ago.
>>106434946What language are you trying to learn and what model are you using to study?
>>106435049No one cares if you make mistakes speaking a language that's not your own
>>106436696Fake. Im ESL and when someone points out that I made a mistake I feel bad.
Language is one of the tasks it performs best at, even though it's not on the level of a translator, and you obviously need classes or a tutor to learn the language.I used it for math and reached the limits of its knowledge when asking questions about advanced stats (basically graduate-level), it's kind of pathetic because the AI would have access to articles I don't.
The good side is exactly that, the bad side, and this is the majority, I guess, is the amount of drooling baboons using AI to cheat, which will in turn get them out of university without knowing shit from shinola. The planet's IQ will drop another 20 points and God knows what will be the long term effects of having these retards fooling around.
>>106436718To be fair, it was trained using chegg answers so if you have a math problem from a textbook, it's likely that it will give you the correct answer.
>>106436746It's advanced enough not to be taught in a textbook.
>>106436696Except they do when it doesn't fucking compile.
>>106436924Well I guess they could use math papers as training material.
>>106436706>Im ESLWe can tell by the reading comprehension.
I've used it for trying to learn Serbian. It sucks dick. AI is a meme. The one thing it's supposed to actually be good at it doesn't do well.
>>106436958Im a person, thus, the "no one cares" is fake. I care.
>>106436670Not OP, I've been using it for German. Stock ChatGPT, which performed great. Gemini was like pulling teeth, it just said what concepts I should learn, without listing or summarizing them.
>>106436966Feed the >>106435049 sentence to AI and ask it to explain it to you, then think how you responded to the post, and me.
>>106435049Cope>>106435630For learning a language you'd have to get to a very advanced level before the model started having hallucinations. Unless it's a less common language or hasn't been trained on yet.
>sar pls embrace enshittification it can relay books and manuals for sub 120 iqs sarNo.
>>106436613There are over 20 million cebuano speakers but llms are incapable of teaching it because the only text theyve been trained on is scripture
>>106436959pushi mi kurac
