Him and Bruce Perens are the only ones that ever sued or were sued over anything GPL related (defending the GPL). Once they're gone the GPL is dead. It allready is since lawsuits often take 10 years and companies feel they can simply outlast them. No GPL suit ever went to final decision. Everything you read about online about "gpl lawsuits" is actually things like the artistic license and other BSD like licenses.Companies do "close legal analysis" and come to the conclusion there is no enforcement. Which is why RedHat (IBM / US Govt) copied Grsecurity's scheme. Notice: RedHat itself owns 50 percent of the linux kernel code; and the linux kernel is possibly a Joint Work; each owner of a Joint Work can license it out however they wish: they do not need permission from the other owners. That doesn't apply to Grsecurity though since none of their work was ever accepted into linux as far as anyone knows.
