It's his kernel, you either do what he wants you to do to get your code in his tree or you get kicked like Kent did.
I don't accuse people of this very often but Kent really is one gigantic egotistical loser, he claims he values his users but don't actually do what's required to keep his filesystem in-tree, well now that it's no longer in-tree bcachefs gets to be as irrelevant as ZFS is on Linux.

it is still in the tree as of now, "Externally maintained" is a new status, it's not even in the definitions (line 11), and bcachefs is the only one marked as external:
