My Youtube experience has only gotten better over the years. I only need one extension, TamperMonkey Beta, and I am able to tweak my experience to suit my needs.

Just use yt-local, retard.

not sure what videos you're watching that need that many, i have ublock origin and sponsorblock and that covers it for me

>logged in to a fucking proprietary browser with Google account
>uBlock CuckLite
>closed-source Tampermonkey donationware
>Stylus even though you can do this with uBlock Origin and user script addon anyway
>logged in to a fucking Youtube with Google account, pressing like button
You are so brain damaged slave tier normie zoomer holy shit.

>open source librewolf offline/locally (no sync, no account and if you are retarded zoomer normie, you can enable cookies, drm etc.)
>easy to use librewolf.overrides.cfg
>open source uBlock Origin offline/locally (user scripts and styles through this, if you are retarded, you can still use open source Greasemonkey)
>redirect to libre front ends user script, open in MPV etc.
>open source keepassxc offline/locally
>open source betterbird RSS offline/locally (I already have my calendar, contacts, email anyway, all offline/locally)

Sometimes I wonder why we even have /g/ anymore. Moderators are 20% FBI, spamming anti-FOSS propaganda and people don't even care after this was known after 4chan hack. People are being ok with proprietary software and defend propriteray corporations as their masters that makes you baby duck cuck slave. People advertising things like macOS, Windows, Brave, iPhone, Steam, Spotify, UEFI, being ok with proprietary firmware, loving Cloudflare (while they talk shit about open source alternatives) etc.

looks nice but I'd prefer it as a userscript, we all know jewgle and kikezilla love to ban "problematic" extensions by labeling them "malware" without proof
>>
>>106442045
yeah most of the changes I have are being done through scripts or ublock (hiding the shitty join/thanks button, removing the custom logo pandering they do, etc.)
For some things I wanted to do I couldn't find any scripts though (at least that worked according to my liking), which is annoying cuz I'd rather just have a bunch of scripts over both scripts and extensions.

I've got 30+ extensions and several userscripts and about half of them are for YouTube alone. Start bloatmaxxing bro.
>>
>>106439615
I don't use yt that often but usually if I'm drunk I'll listen some music. So, there's some strange changes, for example playlists are difficult to see and often when playlist ends it'll just switch to something else... It's basically malware at this point. It does things behind your back.
I'd use invidious or piped but seems like they're permanently broken at this point.
It's better to just torrent your stuff although convenience is still tempting.
>>
>>106442803
Playlists are mandatory now, you click a song and it generates a playlist. I have it beaten with the Redirector extension for now, but it still requires refreshing the tab from time to time.

I'm not gonna make a separate thread, but I want to vent here. I hate the fact that YouTube keeps fucking with the UI and destroying every video/channel blocking extension. I tend to browse YouTube without logging in and I don't want to remove recommendations entirely, but I do hate the fact that it promotes some of the most annoying people on planet Earth.

There was a greasyfork script called Block YouTube Users that worked for a while, but now it's broken again. And none of the BlockTube-style extensions work even though some of them were recently updated. I will never watch ads, I will never pay for Premium. Fuck YouTube and the Stockholm Syndrome they caused the entire Internet.
>>
There is a simple solution for Youtube problems: uBlock Origin on Firefox.
>>
Just download the videos you want to watch and use your favorite video player to watch them. If you really want to use a website (to read the description, comments, etc) then use Invidious. For subscruptions, use an rss client. There's literally no reason to use the official youtube website.
>muh recommendations
anon, why?
>>
is there a way to measure part of side loading using most ram and time?
i feel like youtube takes 3 seconds to load.
can you set parts to delay loading so the video loads first or skip sidebar recomendations or comments.
>>
>>106442997
Read the thread.
>>
>>106443016
>anon, why?
I have spent years training the YouTube algorithm. Of course, YouTube changed it on their side and made it dogshit again, but for a couple of years it was working so well that it was ruining my life.
>>
>listen to some audiobook on YT on my old ipad
>feels like there is a commercial every 2 minutes at times
>>
>>106439615
I use one and it works fine with no ads for me
>>
>>106443114
I'm not familiar with iPads, but can't you install Brave on it? From what another anon said on here, Firefox extensions might not work because of Apple's retardation, but Brave (or maybe even Vivaldi) should have adblocking built-in.
>>
>>106443127
>>106442997
Ads are only part of the problem (and a non-issue for anyone with 2 brain cells). You don't use it enough if you don't know about all the other stuff like the forced translations. Which is probably for the best if you don't use it that much, to be fair, I'm addicted to it.
>>
>>106439615

What even is the use case for a youtube client on your desktop? You rely on the features whoever made the client built in, with no way of writing your own or getting the hundreds of scripts made for the site.
>>
>>106443016
Is there a way to download a long playlist with yt-dlp without youtube blocking you?
>>
>>106443661
Most people don't need a billion different options or scripts. They want a clean interface, perhaps the ability to select resolution, maybe download videos and no ads.
>>

Is there anything that will make the recommendations not suck? I've noticed that they barely even show you recommendations related to what you're watching while you have a video open, they just show the same recommendations on your main page. But if you watch one or two videos on a topic, a third of the recommendations on your main recommendations page turn into that topic.
>>
>>106445070
Yeah, they fucked up the algorithm. It used to work quite well for a while, now it's filled with garbage. I don't know anything that will fix it, but the usual advice is to always rely more on your own searches, as the algorithm will adjust to them in part. But it's far from perfect, the slop won't stop.

Reporting back. It would require a huge community to make it work, so far it recommends even worse slop on the front page and nothing at all anywhere else. To compare this extension as it is to dogshit would be an insult to canine poopoo.

i'm struggling to think of the type of person who needs this
>>
>>106452229
Give us some details, what browser or alt frontend are you using? Are you downloading the videos in any form or have done so in the past? Whether it's mvp or yt-dlp or whatever? Do you use a VPN? Are you connected to an uncommon DNS? Do you use any extensions that might affect YouTube?
>>
>>106452250
I remember asking another anon about it in a different thread and he said that it does more than comment searches, but I don't remember what to save my life. I think it allowed transcript searches as well or something like that.
>>
>>106452265
>I think it allowed transcript searches as well or something like that.
why do you need an extension for this. you can just show transcript and ctrl+f
>>
>>106452257
I use Brave and I did download a few videos with a video downloader, normally when I downloaded a lot of videos it would block me for a little while in the downloader, like 30 mins or an hour and then I could download again, I try to keep the download speed pretty slow to stay discrete. But now it's blocking me in the browser I hope it goes again, I'll try another browser.
>>
>>106452270
True. Although that transcript interface is awful, I prefer to copy the transcript into a text editor and search it there. I can understand why someone who uses this stuff frequently would want an extension, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.
>>
>>106452295
Try another browser just to be sure. Although this stuff is usually blocked at an IP level. I managed to get blocked just for scrolling through my subscriptions, but admittedly I have several thousand of them because of a project I'm working on. Thankfully, I have access to dynamic IPs so it only took a minute to unplug my router and plug it back in.
>>
>>106452356
I tried with Edge and it still didn't work. If it doesn't clear up soon I guess I'll have to sign in from now on but then how long until they screw me over again and start asking for a phone number or some shit, I'm so sick of the internet
>>
>>106452356
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it started to work again, guess it was on a timeout

>>106452600

It doesn't always show up for me. Maybe it's something the channel owner can toggle, I don't know. YouTube constantly fucks with the UI, you can never tell what's causing what.

You keep using Youtube. In case you haven't noticed: They don't care at all how many extensions you install, as long as you keep using it.

The answer, and something I've been doing. Every time I see a video I like: I steal it and put it on Odyssee under a private playlist. Then I never have to look at Youtube for it again. I also tag it so other people don't have to look at Youtube to find it.

Does anyone have a solution for disabling playlist auto-play when the video is not available because of copyright/regional restrictions/captcha? Some scripts work for the first two but none of the ones I tried fix the last problem, I think it's because they use the player "frame" with the auto-play button but it doesn't exist when the whole thing gets replaced by captcha.
