what does xfce lack in the year of our holy lord 2025? what improvements does it need?
>>
>>106440433
AN option for independent workspaces per display
>>
It doesn't lack anything, it's perfect.
>>
>>106441171
this
>>
not xfce, but thunar
I'd like an option to have buttons for icon/list/details view on the toolbar. zoom in an out too.
I like to browse on my tv from the couch so keyboard is not always on my lap, hence I want buttons and not just keyboard shortcuts
Apart from that it's as close to perfection as is possible

Perhaps try to actually use Thunar, you might be pleasantly surprised to find they already have incorporated your desires.
Next time you find yourself able to use it, go to the View menu, select Configure Toolbar..., and then select ``icon/list/details view ... zoom in an out too''.

sex with xue

Oh, the Canadians have arrived, mEH.
>>
It's already perfect. Leave it alone.

HDR support (which requires Wayland support)

I want to buy an OLED monitor and am strongly considering trying out Hyprland
>>
>>106441969

fuck off tranny
>>
>>106440433
To be mainstream?
The enterprise level integrations that Gnome has, and KDE is partially implementing

To be okay for me at home?
It's okay, any new feature would add to ram consumption and bloat.
>>
Swap xfce4-panel with a better alternative like tint2, so I don't have to manually do it at each new device install
>>
>>106442018
you can do it yourself
>>
>>106442018
xfce4-panel is probably the thing that gives me the most trouble in XFCE.

Occasionally it would just stop showing window buttons on one screen, or there would be gaps between window buttons.
There's also the issue where the panel shows over fullscreened apps unless I set them to "always on top".
>>
>>106440433
Gridlless desktop and pinnable appllications to taskbar (as for windows). Other than that it's perfect.
>>
>>106441969
We have had Wayland support for a year buddy
>>
>>106442056
I tried it out recently and it didn't feel quite stable yet. Used labwc as compositor as suggested by archwiki.
>>
>>106442078
it's not fully featured and seamless yet
>>
>>106440433
dropping gnome dependencies and proper wayland support
>>
>>106441889
not in 4.18 it's not.. but thanks for the update I'm looking forward to it

You sure?
4.17.8
======
- Show `Configure Toolbar...` option on right-clicking toolbar items.
- Add built-in buttons for toolbar customization:
Search, Toggle,Reload, Zoom

I don't use the toolbar myself, but I am almost sure the Xfce/Thunar people have big brains, so I knew it had to be there somewhere even early on. Seems to be a little hidden for your version, for sure. Glad we found it for you so you don't have to risk breaking something through upgrade your version. If it works, don't break it. You are very welcome.

The position of a noborder game at my monitor's resolution starts vertically offset by the height of the default window decoration. How fix?
Also, I have to toggle always on top to make the window appear over xfce-panel. Is that to be expected?
>>
integrate all of devilspie's features into xfwm.
>>
Make search bar in the start menu search for files in documents and pictures etc
>>
Less dependence on GTK. I'd rather not pull in a ton of gnome faggotry just to use their panel.

For a full desktop environment though, its da best
>>
>>106440433
Better tiling
>>
>>106444363
just replace xfwm with i3
>>
>>106440433
Being able to open the start menu in the screen the mouse is when you press the windows button, and doing it so in the bar instead of where the mouse is.
Other than that, no other complains.

openXUSE
>>

Does it have thumbnails in the file picker?
>>
>>106445512
Yes, but they could be bigger

This is how it is when shitposting on 4chan.
I bet there is some setting somewhere to improve this but never found it.

Yikes, I think I will stay on gnome now that they fixed the file picker thumbnail bug after all those many years.
>>
>>106447807
It is indeed a better file picker.
>>
>>106447947
It's the only reason I use gnome, If Xfce had a file picker like that I would switch to it immediately.
>>

cute moot
