considering android is now closed source, what are the graphene os devs going to do now? extend support for as long as possiible?
can't they make their own OS? it's in their name after all...
>>106441524That wouldn't make too much sense, as the Android compatibility is what makes it so nice, I can run all my apps while still having more security and privacy than just running stock. I can control app rights per App and actually disable them without the app stopping to work, unlike with the stock OS.If they just go the way of all the other OSs like Ubuntu Touch or all the Linux versions that exist, my fucking banking app doesn't work there, so for me at least that isn't an option.
They have to make an actual phone to get up to date access to all the zero day fixes. As they have said in the past, not having that access by definition means their OS is now insecure ... any delay is completely unacceptable.

>>106442478The poster in the thread you linked is a linux phone esljeet that thinks his ancient phone with PostmarketOS is more secure than GOS. He is also frustrated that GOS gets more donations than his tinkertroon trash. Start posting pajeet memes and watch him mald.

>>106441508Android isn't and never will be closed source. Google stopped publishing the device trees which is an annoyance but not a show stopper, they are actively working on support for the Pixel 10 right now.>>106441524a hard fork would be a tremendous amount of unwarranted effort.
