came acroos this through twitter, DJ_Dave is a producer that makes her music entirely through code, mostly from github, i dont know why i refuse to believe she came across this alone, im sure a nerd put her up for it and used her to promote their product or something, but is this gonna kill DAW users?

Can't think of a single pop singer type that uses decks. fuckin shaq DJs, anybody can do it, but the world of electronic and bass music is comprised of producers that play their own shit live, or hardly play at all. The DJs playing other people's music are mostly buying or trading .wav files and sure some people reach directly out to the producer for dubplates and such but a DJ that doesn't produce their own shit is never gonna play one producer's music exclusively, that would be horrid and ruin their appeal. sure, lots of girls mix it's easy to learn, just gotta be able to count to four, but the people who only mix are trying to play music from lots of different artists and put together a set that carries the energy fluidly between different tracks. People ghost produce in hip hop, pop music, country, any mainstream stuff all the time for sure, but if you're "ghost producing" electronic music for some A-list DJ wtf are you doing, seize the day motherfucker. I've seen squeaky swirly glasses type guys throw a banger set and get swarmed by chicks when they're done. it seems contradictory but at the same time, "you" as a DJ are not the focus, it's about the musical energy and flow and visuals. You're just some dork dweebing out over some star trek looking bullshit to most normalfags, and only people in the scene really appreciate the artistry of a good set. half my friends can mix. my girlfriend can mix, it's easy, if you can produce why the fuck wouldn't you mix your own shit
