Very very early versions of mint were just ubuntu with some binaries and configs replaced with custom versions not packaged in package manager.
Mint devs had their update manager with "safery ratings" for every known package because otherwise apt-get update had a high chance to brick entire system.

Apparently they removed the "danger levels" back in 2019
I sure hope it's because they actually got rid of dangerous hacks (or made sure the hacks are in pinned packages) rather than just lost manpower to verify upstream compatibility.

I tried to install Lutris on mint right now, english and native versions. Downloading the native one would literally brick my computer it said.

Kinda regret installing it. You guys sure this is the right one for beginners?

Fuck no. Never was. It's linux for tricking normalfags and elderly people into trying linux.
If you want something actually for beginners willing to learn and experiment try ubuntu mate.

Satanic and FPBP

Because it looks just like a real user friendly OS. But it is not.
Back in my day we had a meme distro called Lindows for the same purpose.

so theyre using someone else's packages and checking if they work how is that 'breaking using built in app manager'.

this is no different than the ubuntu devs probably testing the packages in the ubuntu repository when they get new versions
