yeah it annoys me quite a bit as wellearlier today I went to youtube and started typing on the search bar before the page finished loading, and at some point it took the focus away from the search bar and started interpreting keystrokes as shortcuts on the home page instead, opening a random a video and making it full screen

Fixed sizing solves this. The banner and everything else on the page should be of fixed size and rendered blank immediately on first load, then filled with data as the client recieives it.
