What is /g/ opinion on a mixed monitor set up? Or should I just get two flats and two curves?
>>106454144just get 1 flat monitor op
>>106454151I can't go back to just one
>>106454144I have a setup with two flats and another with two curved. I think the quality of the panel makes a much bigger difference than the shape. I really don't prefer one over the other. the only time I would recommend a specific shape is a curve for an ultra wide monitor.
>>106454144I have a curved center setup and two flats, one on each side. One is 16:9 and the other oriented 9:16. It's quite nice.
>>106454144just use one flat monitor and be done with it troon, you wont get jackshit done when your little sissy brain has tiktok or 4chan sissy hypno constantly playing on left monitor.
>>106454300>>106454369Thanks anons. I never used a curve ones, so I don't want it to be jarring, if I set it up as one curved + one flat.
>>106454144I've always had the same issue with multiple curved monitors. There is a visible band that runs vertical in the center.
>>106454408God bless Canada
I have both.I mostly use my flat IPS because I need the color accuracy (video editing). Sometimes I use the curved to play. Really wished I could use a curved for both. It's very easy to notice how the edges of a flat screen do need the curve to compensate for optics after using curved and going back to flat. But sadly the only way to get good color in a curved display is to spend a lot on OLED.
>>106454144You don't mix monitor, at all, to begin with.one good monitor >>>> two monitors > one bad monitorA lot of my colleagues/userbase are provided with a laptop, a USB dock, and an external display. Most actually choose to close the laptop's screen shut when plugged on the dock. That's how undesirable a mixed monitors setup actually is.Personnally, I use a 24" 4K display, both at work and at home. And eventually the PiP/PbP features if I really need to get an "extra monitor" (which basically never happen).Curved monitor are not inherently bad. But in practice they are overpriced. Which will in turn force one to sacrifice another -more useful- metric. Don't waste your money on them.
>>106454554any recommendations? I just want something decent that I can do while working at home, and streaming the occasional movies and watching jewtube videos. So a 4K would an overkill for my needs
>>106454210If you use 2 monitors for anything other than work you're a faggot
>>106454144Two of the exact same monitor, or a single big monitor
>>106454144>DFC + curvyWhy not?
>>106454144>Have you seen those warriors from hammerfell? They've got BIG CURVED MONITORS."
>>106454741I just go to whatever hardware store is in the vicinity, and buy whatever 4K is on sale at the moment. As for the size of the screen :A good rule of thumb is that it should be roughly equal to the distance you plan to sit apart from it.So, if your desk is 26" deep, you should go for a 22~26" screen. The brand does not matter. The tech (IPS/LCD/Plasma:...) doesn't matter.
>>106454964dafuq is a DFC supposed to be?
>>106454408Don't worry about mixing curved with non.I had flat for forever. My employer renewed my office budget and I didn't need anything so I blew it on a curved one. I repositioned my flat monitors as side monitors. You can mix and match. It works fine. And the flat to curved experience is pretty organic. The curve is pretty organic and subtle. I don't think about it much.
>>106454144Curved are nice for gaming and nothing else. If you're using your PC for productivity you're much better off having a multi-display setup so you can turn off monitors you aren't using. On a curved screen you're going to end up using the workspace in front of you most of the time and totally ignoring the edges. However, 1 is better than 2 and 3 is better than one or two. If you only have two you end up using one as a primary and then your neck starts to hurt from looking over to the secondary. If you go for three you can buy a nice one as a primary and the secondaries you can get on sale.
>>106455558thanks anon>>106455575thanks, mate. That was what I was primary concern with. I wasn't sure if they would be a noticeable adjustment period if I were to get a curved. I would use the curve for mostly media, and any wagecucking will done on the flat.
>>106455738yeah it would be primary for entertainment and media. I just want to stream movies, sports and answer the occasional emails, whereas the flat would be primary wagecucking
>>106454144The best setup is two horizontal and one vertical. The second best setup is 4 horizontal in a grid and one vertical on the side.Curved is gay use your mounting arms to angle flat monitors.
off-topic but for posterityI like to use dualmonitortool's cursor teleport feature. It quickly teleports the cursor between monitors so I don't have to drag it across 4000 pixels. It also lets me set up a soft border between the two monitors so you don't accidentally move the cursor from to the other.
I love my flat 32 inch 4k display its perfect. 32 inch curvecells are missing out on the extra vertical area and clarity
>>106454144once you go curve its annoying to adjust back into flat.
>>106454144Flat is justice.
>>106455741I switched to curved from flat. It was also a 21:9 from a 16:9.Learning to use screen real estate efficiently was an adjustment. Also if you do FPS games, stay with 16:9 in game. But for any work tasks or other media consumption, you can just use curved and you'll be fine. There isn't really an "adjustment"I use my monitor for both personal and wageslaving. I work from home though and they aren't pissy about personal use shit like monitors.
