i think the most frustrating thing about linux is not just that things don't work
it's that they SOMETIMES, SUDDENLY, and RANDOMLY cease to work
yesterday everything was fine, today i wake up and the entire Bluetooth app is missing. like it's listed as installed in the software manager, but not searchable in the apps list
how?
aren't computers deterministic? such that in order to have randomness, you have to specifically and explicitly introduce entropy by taking photographs of lava lamps and all this other shit?
how can something work on one boot but not on the other. where does randomness come from?!

>use updooting distro that has no testing and is worked on by 50 devs who have no access to diagnostic and telemetry data, while even fucking microsoft and apple dont dare make a updooting distro and use stable point releases despite having 500000000000000 devs and 500000000000000000000 people contributing telemetry data for troubleshooting bugs
>be surprised linux is buggy
just use lts you fucking retards, there's a reason smaller projects stick to LTS, it's compatibility, stability, reliability. imagine not using blender LTS and linux-lts, just fucking lol
>>
>>106454226
i didn't update!
well whatever im gonna try bazzite now
>>
>>106454155
loonix is great if your time is worthless

this

>things that never happened
windows doe...
>>
>>106454155
deterministic does not mean something isn't chaotic
computers are very complex and so there's many ways that things can go wrong
double pendulums are deterministic and yet they can be extremely sensitive to small changes in their starting parameters
>>
>>106454394
linux doesnt auto update until you set it up to do so
OP is full of shit
>>
>>106454400
He didn't say his computer updated. I've seen exactly what he's talking about, which is why I dont use Linux as my daily driver.
>>
>>106454420
except it never happened
and now im fairly certain youre samefagging op

at least try to make your flameposting believable

I've dealt with your faggot kind for decades whenever I attempted to use Linux officially and you all say the same cope everytime.
>>
>>106454458
ah, so youre saying you broke something
ok

bc i didnt reinstall since ~2 years now
and last time i turned my computer off was 48 days ago
loonix doesnt brick itself
the user bricks it. or updates
theres is just no other option
>>
>>106454471
obviously i did not suggest that some malevolent demon entered my computer and messed my shit up
distro is linux mint, i don't think i updated the whole thing. i did install things yesterday and maybe possibly one of them installed something on startup that caused something else to happen.
i did not mess with bluetooth or audio at all

my point still stands
Why is the whole app missing? it's not even errors when connecting to headphones, the whole thing is just gone. Why is it designed this way?
>>
>>106454471
nothing you said proves me wrong, faggot
>>
>>106454551
yeah so it DIDNT break itself
either bc what you installed was shit
or because you did something wrong

>it's not even errors when connecting to headphones
have you checked?
bc 99.99% of the time you wont get a pop up, youre gonna have to look up what happened in journalctl for example

yes, its not windows. its loonix. you have to deal with shit in the CLI and be very careful what you do and when
>>
>>106454592
you still don't understand
you must think you're very smart for explaining the basics of linux to me and all these other truisms
but you don't understand my point and that's fine
>>
>>106454604
i understand your point very well
>wah why isnt it windozz
bc it isnt. bc its loonix
>>
Nice op
>>
>>106454612
that's not what i said and that isn't my point at all
i also never mentioned windows once. for all you know i might prefer mac instead
it appears you just want to fight against some pre-configured strawman, templated from Random /g/ NPCs: exhibit 12837: disgruntled windows user not understand linux
rather than actually engage with me (the person) in the conversation on the topic at hand
and that's fine

A recent kernel update destroyed x220 wifi. Took about a week for it to be fixed, sure, with some help reporting the problem and about 4 lost hours, but it's over now.
>>
>>106454155
As you allude to, it comes from hardware. The bluetooth hardware, being physical, experiences degradation over time. This degradation leads it to interface differently with the linux driver. This change causes linux to no longer understand it, see it as a different device, etc. So now the bluetooth app is disabled. The root cause of the issue, as per usual, is shitty hardware.

>>106454226
Confusingly, retards like this will give you exactly the wrong advice. Updating the entire stack, from kernel to de, is the most likely way to fix your issue.
>>
>>106454629
i engaged you
you said it auto bricked
turns out it didnt

dont try to retreat
take ownership of your retardation, slimy faggot
>>
i feel so bad for all the poorfags who cannot afford a silicon macbook... you get the best OS possible... UNIX based, stable, performant. Linux trannies here boast not having reinstalled their OS in 2 years like it's an accomplishment ROFL. I still have a macbook pro from 2014 that works like the day i got it. Also, i rice the shit out of it so
>iToddler only uses it for x
is not valid.

brownest most technologically illiterate retard on the planet award
>>
personally, that sounds like a skill issue to me
also, bluetooth is spyware
>>
>>106454704
If there are bugs, they are more likely fixed in recent versions. Wincucks cannot comprehend the idea of software not getting progressively worse over time.

The way it defies my expectations is what gets me. I sort of expect stuff not to work on Linux, so when something does work it can often genuinely upset me more than if it didn't.
>>
>>106454155
In these cases, the problem is either:
>driver issue because old/buggy kernel
or
>your hardware is not properly supported in any kernel
If you use, for example, laptop models that Canonical recommends on their website, or hardware from companies like System76 or Tuxedo, you will guaranteed never have the type of bluetooth issue you described (or any other random hardware issue... because, let's face it, when it comes to software issues, Windows has plenty of those)
>>
>>106454749
you do realize that every new version will introduce new bugs? how does your brown high school drop out brain even work? what do you think happens when people fix a bug and add a new feature? do you think it's a constant progression of more goodness added? it's a scale of good going plus? are you fucking retarded? the only thing that changes is that you'll have bugs that people won't know to workaround or account for when making programs that interact with your program as a dependancy, and you'll have potentially horrific outcomes, like what often times happens on meme distros like opensuse or arch
>>
>>106454155
>aren't computers deterministic?
Were you dropped on your head as a teenager?
>>
>>106454761
Your upset comes because linux shouldnt be having shit breaking to begin with.
>>
>>106454778
>what do you think happens when people fix a bug and add a new feature?
the new feature may have bugs in it. Sometimes new features cause bugs in existing features, but usually they don't. When they do, these bugs are usually trivial to fix.
>personal attacks, insults
good job bobby, here's a star
