You hate the internet and smartphones, not computers.

Sometimes i wonder, what if we artificially restricted internet speeds to 3mbps? Just as an experiment to see how society would react.

I am actually pursueing a career in construction or some sort of trade. I'm competing with an army of cheap polish people but that's that price to pay I guess.

I just need to buy a house. Somewhere outside the city with a lower than average mortgage. Then I can downgrade my job to something with less stress and less money.

You really think norms are gonna do all that?

I both hate and love my 'puter. On one hand, technology and the internet have seeped their way into almost all facets of modern life, so you NEED to interact with it for a lot of things, and people who would've otherwise never bothered with it are now everywhere. But then I find some cool software or game and I realize why I threw away my life for this stuff. What I'm trying to get at anony, is that fuck it we ball.

>>106455660
You could make bank setting that shit up for people though.

Lately, I've taken to hanging out in the woods and writing python shit for my calculator. It's max comfy.
I've also got an airgapped desktop so I can pretend I'm programming in the 90s.

You don't hate computers, you hate normie techslop dystopia. Welcome aboard.
>>
I hate computers so much that I love them.
>>
>>106459783
nah u guys saying this are misunderstanding the underlying points.
why does the normie net suck in the first place?
well because hyper socializing in a virtual reality thats all fake is going to make anyone toxic.
its not an issue of retards are on the internet, but the internet makes people retarded.
>I HATE THAT NOONE FUCKING GOES OUT ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY'D RATHER TALK ON DISCORD
example. thats an issue that the internet/computers caused but it effects him IRL and now its rarer to see young people actually walking around town, for potential chitchat
>>
>>106455464
you don't hate computers.
you hate modern software and its utilization in bureaucratic shit
>>
>>106460319
>you hate modern software and its utilization in bureaucratic shit
so you hate when computers are used as computers, for computer things (communication)
but its not a computer issue
it doesnt make much sense to me fren
>>
>>106460344
heres a theorhetical exercise we can do.
say there is no internet, but theres still smartphones and computers right.
but on these devices its just a hyper simulation, it mimicks an entire different world and feels completely real, buts its not. its all 1's and 0's
so in this scenario, no internet exist, but this device exists.
people are still going to massively escape into this device, and get lost, and never want to engage with reality and the real world again, because thats way more challenging and the device gives you instant reward whenever you wish.
the issue in this scenario, is the device, the computer, the technology. and not retards people social on the internet.

>for computer things
computers were primarily designed to function as complex calculators, their first use was to calculate ballistic or logistics tables during World WWII
then they developed communication protocols to transfer information between academic campuses.
none of this is intended to create interaction between the individual and institutions or organizations such as health facilities or banks.

david foster wallace wrote extensively about this kind of thing and the "death of sincerity". before even smartphones were a thing and the internet had wide adoption. he could see how perfect it would be to use everyone's base, and carnal instincts against them.

>DAVID
>Because the technology is just gonna get better and better. And it's gonna get easier and easier, and more and more convenient, and more and more pleasurable, to be alone with images on a screen, given to us by people who do not love us but want our money. Which is fine. In low doses. But if that's the basic main staple of your diet? You're gonna die. In a meaningful way, you're going to die.
>>
>>106455464
you don't hate computers.
you hate your life.
>>
>>106460530
computers have taken over our lives so your point is meaningless.
and if you think you dont hate your life youre wrong because no one that loved themselves would just post a mean snarky useless comment

Soon you'd have to get the app to clock in. Which means you'll need a smart phone. Which means you'll need to activate location. Which means everything you do and everywhere you go will now be recorded and scrutinized. Have fun while you can!
