A web developer should not call themselves an "engineer", no matter if they're working on the frontend or backend. Neither should mobile developers. The only people who can have such a title are those who actually build the technologies that the web developers and everybody uses. I.e. the language architects and engineers, people building browsers, operating systems, compilers, etc.If we think in the physical world, construction workers aren't considered engineers when they assemble bridges. No. They follow the guidance of the engineers, just like developers follow the specs created by *real* engineers. If you call yourself a "software engineer", but you're a web developer, I immediately assume you're a fucking retard. I don't give a fuck if you're programming in C# or Java. You're building CRUD applications. You're not an engineer, pretentious twat.
All software is CRUD. Web dev is kind of insufferable though.
