If you want a Debian-based distro for noobs then Spiral Linux fucking rapes Mint>zram preconfigured, unlike Mint>installer defaults to btrfs, which Mint's installer doesn't even support>automatic btrfs snapshots preconfigured, whereas Mint uses Rsync with Timeshit to fill up your entire drive>you have the option of many desktop environments, whereas Mint just gives you three shitty ones>just pulls straight from the Debian 13 repo, whereas even LMDE makes you install ancient packages from the Mint repoGenuinely, what is the case for Mint when Spiral is easier and more modern? Spiral is superior to both Mint AND LMDE.
>>106459346>zram preconfigured, unlike Mintwhy do i want zram? i havent run out of real ram since like 2002
>>106459346The type of people who install Linux Mint aren't going to care about any of this.
>>106459346wow another small distro to forget about in a day, one that won’t have the userbase behind it to be worth dick when there’s a problem
>>106459381It's literally just Debian. Spiral doesn't need specific support because it is literally just Debian.
>>106459386Great then I'll just use Debian.
The problem with all these things is when something goes wrong you can't just google issue + spiral os u like you can with mint. And yes your distro will have distro specific issues not found in debian.
>>106459346nah im good senpai you can keep anything to do with spirals for to yourself
>zram>btrfssure glowie, I'll stick to Mint
>>106459425>your distro will have distro specific issues not found in debiansnapper and btrfs are literally the only things special about Spiral
>>106459425It's not even a distro, just a glorified script to unshittify Debian a bit. But there's a reason why Mint exists, and it's because it takes far more to make Debian usable by the tech illiterate.
just use debian, it's not hard
>>106459497what else a tech illiterate needs that doesn't pre-installed?
>>106459346i am still going to use linux mint. i don't distro-hop
>>106459538It's the little details that make Debian annoying to use. Some examples for you, from the last time I spent a few months on Debian.>they won't package the latest Firefox release, only ESR because muh stable, but Chromium is updated all the time since Debian 11's fiasco.>Debian doesn't have anything to let you easily find drivers for devices that aren't working correctly, like wireless adapters. It took me a good hour of searching to do something that Mint can fix for me in three seconds in the post-install welcome screen>you have to rely on the goodwill of someone to backport kernels and mesa drivers for you (which are always neglected), while Mint has access to all the newest stuff straight up from Ubuntu's HWE program>until Debian 12 they didn't even had pipewire configured for other DEs (only Gnome), idk about 13>its 2 year release cycle is completely obsolete for today's standards, and thet don't have people to update packages in time for the next stable, so there are always things removed or left outdated in the repos
What I truly hate about Debian is that upgrading from 12 to 13 isn't one button in a GUI.
>>106459620Oh yeah, forgot about this one too: Debian didn't had the packages that it needed to detect and connect my Android phone for some ungodly reason. Man, it sure was fun troubleshooting this garbage. I almost wiped the system thar day.
>>106459346Using fagged out Linux over UNIX literally ever.NGMI
>>106459346I tried Spiral Linux in a VM and was very disappointed. Even after updating it to Trixie, it's still using an ancient version of Firefox for some reason. And most importantly, Debian and Debian-based distros will never be user-friendly without a GUI method to upgrade to the next OS release. I'll give it credit for Btrfs and whatnot, but they really need to upload newer images AND have a service on the background that will periodically check the Debian sources to see if there's a new release, and then switch to the newer sources.
>>106459346Noobs don't know what any of that means, they just want something popular that works out of the box and looks kinda like windows
>>106459346hi spiral shill, complete nobody never used either anon hereYour logo is fucking dogshit, looks like corporate memphis cryptojewery. for the love of god change your brand to something less instantly off putting and vaguely pedo dogwhistly. a fucking crying emoji would be less alarming and still prettier than this.
>>106459649>didn't hadminor grammatical mistake opinion discarded
>>106459359Having a bit of swap is always good, even if you have a lot of ram. That said zram isn't that much better than regular swap that I'd consider it a big priority
>>106459346>If you want a Debian-based distroI don't
>>106459381Found the tech luddite
>>106459346
>>106459346you tried, but it's gonna take something waaaay better to get me off MX
>>106464490Does MX have a GUI way to upgrade to Trixie?
>>106464521no, but they always provide a detailed guide to upgrade without reinstalling major versions and it just werks 99% of time and takes just a few minuteshttps://mxlinux.org/migration/
>>106464521>>106464583for trixie:https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/upgrading-from-mx-21-to-mx-23-without-reinstalling/
Thanks, but I'm sticking to Kubuntu LTS with the HWE kernel.
>>106464583>noGod dammit
I still don't understand why NIGGERS opt to create a whole new fucking distribution over just making a fucking script or some shit, the only reason I can think of is fucking ego.
>>106459346>Spiral LinuxIs that what distrohopping is called these days?
>Stock Debian :(>Debian, but preconfigured by some literal who :D
>>106459346>Spiral Linux fucking rapes Minti'm not into rape :<
