according to picrel in that specific benchmark it's around the same performance just more VRAM. With AI, more VRAM is always better. Overflowing into system RAM when you don't have enough VRAM is what makes things end up taking significantly longer. Have more space to work in properly (VRAM) and things will get done quicker.

if you can pick up a used 3090 in your area for the equivalent of around 700 to 800usd then that definitely be the best for training. AI has propped up the value of those old cards so pretty hard. Heck, even 4090 owners are still able to sell those GPUs now and get back almost 90% of the original price they paid, it's pretty insane.
